  1. Edgar
I have been reading this, again from NASA

    This article explains present crisis

To some, crossing the threshold of 400 ppm is a signal that we are now firmly seated in the “Anthropocene,” a human epoch where people are having major and lasting impacts on the planet. Because of the long lifetime of CO2, to others it means we are marching inexorably towards a “point of no return,” into territory that is unknown for the human race.

It is good because it is based on quite recent information.

  2. FELIX-

Shortsighted I may be, but I don’t see any blockbusting info from Ted’s single post on this page. As he says, ther eis nothing we can do about it. Aas for scientific tacts, NASA scientists say that we are just on thr “cusp of the warming phase, and should now be slowly descending into a cooling period which may last several thousands of years.

So NASA say, and who am I to dispute this. I cannot control the sunspots, nor the fossil fuels emissions from China and India. Not to forget Africa. You say that the last comparable time was 3 million years ago, but you give no link, not that I doubt you. I do not. You are a serious guy and I trust you.

  3. This post by Ted Belman has been like a thunderbolt against all sitting so cosy on this site. What now? I could sense the tremors of apprehension.

More and more the struggle is for science and correct analysis.

Vivarto has exposed the false data that Victor based his article on. Victor built a pipedream on false data.
In the same way the last optimistic claim by Adam is not backed up by any data.

They have technology to remove Co2 from the atmosphere but it is a technology that is impractical. Like Victor it is false data.

    To generalise

Perhaps we do not wish to face reality and seek to make fun in advance of reality. Perhaps that is a tendency.

If that is so we have to learn and be on guard.

Looking at the final hole of the PGA a person who did not follow golf would not understand

But if he knew the past it would not be a surprise he drove the drive into the creek and tragically it all ended.

It happened often in the past

The Co2 now sits at over 416 ppm.

And to understand what is in front no good looking over the past year. We have to look back three million years…to time of the hominid Lucy…to understand our reality WE GO BACK THREE MILLION YEARS TO FIND CO2 OVER 400

  4. I just also recalled that the May weather incident I mentioned with roofs collapsing etc. That I myself used to get up on my roof almost daily to shovel off accumulated snow. Because my house was completely wooden in structure with shake siding also, very old-fashioned with dormer windows, and already nearly 100 years old, one of the two oldest homes. in my city. If there might have been woodworm in the rafters, I’d be in trouble. Others in the street were doing the same, even with steeply pitched roofs. I recall that the aluminium ladder (just a foot too short to reach the roof.) slipped sideways one day when I was near the top, and only by grabbing the gutter did I save myself from a nasty fall.

We had icicles like 4-5 ft. stalactites all around the house. Most years we had NO snow at all.

I’d forgotten all about these things. It definitely was NOT global warming.!

  5. Adam has some things right but not the point that we have proven technology to remove Co2 on meaningful scale or will. No guarantee at all.

It has taken more than 250 years since the very modest beginnings of the industrial revolution in the mid eighteenth century for enough carbon-emitting machines to have a significant impact on the climate. But I think that this phenomenon has finally begun to occur. The huge increase in the number of gasoline-powered automobiles throughout the world is only one of many examples of carbon-emitting machines over the past 120 years. Deforestation, and the spead of asphalt over vast urban areas have also contributed to this phenomenon.

He is right here. Past changed took place very gradually over long time spans. But 120 years is the blink of an eye.

We are in danger of losing the Amazon. Forest being cleared to be replaced by cattle, soya and mining. Pure destruction for greed of money for a few. Old cultures ended. Murder of environmental activists. So those in power react.

Reader it is incomplete to just say that the sun heats the earth. Rather the sun heats the earth through the medium of the atmosphere. If we did not have the atmosphere with the gases called Greenhouse Gases then Earth would be at about Zero. But you can have too much of a good thing. That’s what has happened to us. We have been digging up historical CO2 and chucking it into the Atmosphere. Like adding an extra blanket. See The Keeling Curve. This is causing the earth to heat up, the poles to melt, and glaciers in higher altitudes to melt. The climate heats up. And it is us causing it. It can be nothing else.

Technically speaking we are in an ice age. The ice was still there. And it was a situation for 12,000 years that was most beneficial for living in.

Between say minus 1 and plus 1 in temperature.

All our human civilization have been built in this short time frame.

We are used to that and so are all the plants and animals.

Move us out of that and we begin to struggle. As in India now when people cannot sleep they may become desperate.

Can it be fixed? What I said we created the problem so we can fix it.

But will the vested interests of fossil fuels, of agriculture and others allow the change to happen. The Ukrainian NATO war is a sign they will not.

The power elites are very powerful and they keep pumping these false ideas we have seen in these posts into the minds of people, who then spread them around, each in their own individual way spreading disinformation and being against science.

The poorest and our creatures suffer now. So what’s the purpose of Zionism anyway if not being a guide to the world? Solve it!

  6. It is not in dispute that the earth has undergone numerous changes in climate in past centuries and millennia. For example, during the last 100,000 years the earth went through at least five ice ages, each of which was followed by a warmer period when the ice sheets melted and a larger area of the Northern hemisphere became inhabitable by humans. It is unlikely that human activity or technology caused these “pulsating” alternations of cold and warm wold climate periods. There was no certainly industrial revolution during this vast period of time. The human population was much smaller than it is now. The only human technology that might have caused some climate change was fire, since smoke from wood fires does release some Co2. But it is unlikely that fires built by primitive hander=gatherers to help them cook their meat could have caused such massive climate shifts.

There were also many shift’s in the eath’s climate that go back even further in time. For example, the three “dinosaur” epochs
( Jurassic first Cretacious third, and what is the name given to the iddle period?) were followed by the mammal-dominated world that has existed up to the present day. Since the beginning of the mammal era, temperature have on average been much cooler than during the dinosaus and pre-dinosaur epochs. Yet human beings had not even evolved during the 99% of so of these vast epochs, spanning several hundred million years.

This much said, I do believe that human technology is now contributing to a rise in global temperatures.

However, there is a vast array of technologies that could be used to slow global warming. Some of these technologies, such as carbon capture and hydroelectric power, already exist and could be adopted even today. Others require more R&D to .become practical. But that is almost certain to occur over the next 50 years, before global warming becomes a very serious problem. Most responsible scientists believe that is unlikely to occur until towards the end of this century. So there is no reason for the panicky talk that is so widespread in government agencies and the MSM.

  7. @Edgar In short, “when you’re hot you’re hot; when you’re not, you’re not.” By the way some of what you said is in the first George Carlin routine I posted.

  8. READER has something in his latest comment.

And here’s another thing we’ve all overlooked. I recall reading years ago that much volcanic action preceded and occurred during cooling periods of the earth. That the ash spread around the atmosphere and blocked out the cosmic rays which warm the earth.

Quite a lucid and probable partial explanation, along with sun spot activity et al.

Nothing that we are going to solve here.

  9. opinion based on science?

    Here it is:

    1) the Earth’s warming or cooling depends on the cycles of the Sun;

    2) each of the Earth’s warming or cooling cycle may last for thousands of years;

    3) we are now siting on the tip of a warming cycle which is going to start dipping back into a very long cooling cycle, i.e., an Ice Age;

    4) Russia is going to benefit from the stupidity of the West because it is going to have the fuel to keep its population warm;

    5) the global warming scare was designed to keep the developing countries from becoming competitive by reducing their supply of coal, oil, and gas and making them pay for the pollution they allegedly produce.

  10. The terrible irony lies in the notion that if the warming were certain and the potential was devastating and the cause was CO2, that govt could do anything beyond subsidizing special interests, while providing a pretense in solving something so complex and intricate as is claimed by this ongoing scam. Govt can’t solve the problems associated with delivering the mail or running the trains, yet govt is going to provide a path for solving a planetary crisis? Govt doesn’t solve problems, govt is the problem of every situation they move to ‘solve’. The solution is always poorly managed with the interests of politics and graft as the greater priorities involved in the “solution”.

How could this be any more clearly delineated when China and India are left to pollute the world with their carbon product and the Western world is left to wreck their economies towards this vision of zero carbon and increased costs. While the West buys the solar panels to reduce the carbon footprint, they pay China to produce these in their filthy carbon producing industrial plants, then ship them across the ocean in some carbon producing vessel, to ultimately produce a net increase in the carbon being produced.

If the world were coming to an end, no govt edict could save us from our fate. But equitable expectations from all nations regarding the suspected cause of this proposed incoming doom, would at least support the notion that what was being pursued might have a serious intent. No one can seriously suggest that the carbon produced by half the world is less hazardous than the other, and this leads to the recognition that this remedy to our 10yr time limit is being approached with the insincerity of some graft koolaid packaged as a science fiction tale remedy that is too silly to be taken seriously.

  12. HONEYBEE-

Do as others do….Blame it on Israel…!!

Some yeara go, on Vancouver Island, and I believe the whole West Coast, there were blizzards and very heavy snowfall in the middle of May. I recall the heavy snow shovelling to get my car in and out. It went on for a few weeks. A gift from the Arctic, I seem to recall.

    Roofs collapsed all over.

  13. Some accept that there is a conspiracy by immensely wealthy, immensely powerful entities who are causing Global warming. Their reasons are only speculative. We just don’t know.

I may have misread it, but I gathered that Felix suggested that it is so as to cause an immense transfer of wealth. (presumably from the rich to the poor, somewhat laudable if true??)

But I would confidently assume, that with all their wealth and power, that they have the most up-tp-date scientific gurus to consult with, and if THEY are continuing on their nefarious path, they must both feel safe, and have a reason.

More wealth…unlikely…More power…Hmmm. BUT, they live on the same planet as we, and would be subject to the same catastrophic fate so fervently prophesied by the Prophets of Doom. The Chinese, no fools they, are the biggest offenders.

We DO know, regardless of statistics and “damned lies”, that we, humanity, has no power to avert any coming disaster…that there have been a series of up and down global temperature changes throughout the eons, That species have come and gone, and that we can do nothing to halt or avert this natural cycle of life. (other than a few paltry “natural reserves”. that make us feel better)..

Every year or so, global climate change erupts on this site because of some fervent believer, who laments the coming catastrophe… (sometime in the next 100.1000 years I just saw one saying that the USA will vanish within 10 years…….???? mental storm….??, or sense of humour??).

During the Mini-Ice Age from 1300-1800 why is it that no one felt like this. THEIR apprehensions of the end of humanity had to do with the appearances of comets, and unusual patterns in the sky, actually natural phenomena.

So WHY, again, at THIS time is the crappy “carbon footprint” being touted.?? Trudeau is crazy about carbon footprints, but he’s not on this site..

Can it be, that the main activity, is to just pick a fight from all the ongoing international disturbances,, then dig in and enjoy the scrap !!!
This seems to provide some vicarious satisfaction.

The footprints that MOST scientists are interested in are those of long extinct dinosaurs.

Me, I just enjoy reading all the futile nonsense, aiming everywhere, and going nowhere.

  14. When Israel is overrun by people unable to live under unbearable heat some may look at this post and scorn your betrayal here.

  15. @B.Poster

It’s pretty near impossible to publicly question the theory of human caused climate change

Well, it is dangerous. You can get cancelled.

  16. Earth’s temperature has risen by 0.14° F (0.08° C) per decade since 1880, and the rate of warming over the past 40 years is more than twice that: 0.32° F (0.18° C) per decade since 1981. 2020 was the second-warmest year on record based on NOAA’s temperature data, and land areas were record warm.

This above from Ted is from the NOAA Report of 2020

Another way to see it are the highlights given:

    HIGHLIGHTS
Earth’s temperature has risen by 0.14° F (0.08° C) per decade since 1880, and the rate of warming over the past 40 years is more than twice that: 0.32° F (0.18° C) per decade since 1981.
2020 was the second-warmest year on record based on NOAA’s temperature data, and land areas were record warm.

Averaged across land and ocean, the 2020 surface temperature was 1.76° F (0.98° Celsius) warmer than the twentieth-century average of 57.0°F (13.9°C) and 2.14?F (1.19?C) warmer than the pre-industrial period (1880-1900).

Despite a late-year La Niña event that cooled a wide swath of the tropical Pacific Ocean, 2020 came just 0.04? Fahrenheit (0.02?Celsius) shy of tying 2016 for warmest year on record.

The 10 warmest years on record have occurred since 2005.
From 1900 to 1980 a new temperature record was set on average every 13.5 years; from 1981–2019, a new record was set every 3 years.

    https://www.climate.gov/news-features/understanding-climate/climate-change-global-temperature

    Morocco in May now

We just observed Morocco’s ?? hottest day in May in reliable recorded history: 45.7°C (114°F).

Extremely hot widely across Europe with many notable station records in several countries. https://t.co/vzb8IHfOdo

India and Pakistan great distress so hot at night the body cannot cool.

In relation to the Arctic. The biggest increase comes at the poles. In Arctic the great danger of runaway global warming or tipping point caused by libido effect also methane release. Tipping point is a term man loses control over warming.

The changes in the past covered periods of time hundreds of thousands of years. But this change is a hundred or two hundred years, the blink of an eyelid in geological time.

And the mini Ice age mentioned y , Edgar was not global and effected only part of Europe.

  17. @Ted Belman

The idea that it is a crisis, is bullshit.
The warming has indeed occurred and there is very little reason to think that it was caused by the increased CO2 concentration.
The CO2 concentration has been increasing steadily, however the warming has been significant in some decades, while in some decades there was a cooling or nothing.

  18. @FelixQuigley

The first thing to understand is that global warming is global. And it’s not a conspiracy. It’s real.

There is a gradual warming taking place. Ca. 1C over the last 140 years.
The 140 years prior to that there also was warming. We don’t know exactly how much, but 1C seems plausible.

There is no proof that the warming is caused by the CO2.
However whatever the cause, it is beneficial rather than harmful it extends the growing season in Europe, and many other places.
Increase of CO2 concentration is also beneficial it increases the crop productivity and overall greening of the Earth.

And yes it is true that CO2 has a mild greenhouse effect in laboratory conditions.
The contribution to the overall warming is insignificant and it is growing logarithmically in relation to concentration.

(for those unfamiliar with the term
Logarithmic is the inverse of Exponential meaning the more temperature increases the slower the growth)

  19. I am now trapped inside the house. Snowbound at the end of May by a foot or more of white fluff. Tell me again about Globel warming.

  20. “Based on science….” It’s pretty near impossible to publicly question the theory of human caused climate change and the government’s war against the oil and gas industry continues.

“Fossil fuels” are vital to the functioning of a modern nation. Good leadership will work to ensure that the nation and it’s citizens have access to a stable and reasonably priced supply of this.

Ted has pretty nuch nailed it. To the extent the climate may be changing, humans can’t stop it and the current war our government is waging on the oil and gas industry is counter productive on so many levels it’s hard to know where to begin.

  21. Ted it does not understand the horror of global warming. With runaway warming the earth becomes uninhabitable.

We have to begin by asking the most basic questions.

Such as the relationship between earth and its atmosphere

Otherwise we just make points in an argument.

The answer to my question is the atmosphere decided / decides all.

    It’s the interplay between

    EARTH

    ATMOSPHERE SURROUNDING EARTH

    SUN

That created conditions for a living earth BUT we are altering those conditions by burning fossil fuels

A certain amount of GHG in the atmosphere is good and necessary but there can be too much of a good thing

And since all that is scientifically true if man created this man CAN indeed fix it.

But there are big powerful interests who are very rich and who want to continue as usual.

And this is why this is such.a critical political issue reflected in the comments here influenced by an ignoramus like Trump!

And raised the issue how can we get across truthful knowledge.

  22. Between about 1300 and about 1800 there was a “mini-ice age”. It lasted for 500 years, but in the scheme of things was only a “mini”, Also during this period , there were periods lasting dozens of years where it heated up a bit, before relapsing.

To believe that we have any control of it, a carbon footprint..(how easily we invent catchy phrases) when it depends on Solar matters, is pretentious to the core. It is beyond human control. Scientific studies confirmed that if humanity worked on NO carbon emissions for i00 years, it would lessen the warming effect by about a tenth of one percent. This was disseminated knowledge only about 3 years ago.

Also the records show that the global warming has increased by 1/2 a Degree Celcius in the past 100 years. ALso that 90% of the world’s ice is at the Anctartic, of which 70% is FRESH water. And we KNOW that when ice MELTS the volume DECREASES.

  23. Let’s break this down.. I reject the idea that its total bullshit. This video is based on the premise that temperatures will rise.

I do not subscribe to the idea we can do anything about it. What is, is.

And should the temperatures continue to rise for the rest of the century , Russia and Canada with their great northern land mass wi9ll benefit. Does anyone dispute that?

  24. NASA scientists report that although the Antarctic glaciers are thinning, there has been a large snow and ice increase which more than compensates for the glacier losses. That it began 10,000 years ago, and for some years exceeded 112 billion tons yearly, later down to 62 bill. That it affects different areas of the Antarctic, and not it’s entirety……They were even able to determine the periods of such increases..

So “global warming”, as it’s called, can not be global. And anyway, it’s been long shown to be cyclic over thousands of years, and little or nothing to do with humanity. We have mini- ice ages in the middle of warming periods, and these are encompassed by larger ice ages, interspersed with further warming periods.

It’s only recently that humanity, because of scientific advances in technology and methodology, have even noticed it as being anything but …”just the weather”.

It’s just like medical diagnostic advances show that some people long regarded as “normal” are actually, for example,, “paranoiac’, to a greater or lesser degree…..

Even Miami Beach, long thought to be sinking, has now been shown not to.

  25. Can Peloni Vivarto and Poster give your opinion but this time your opinion based on science?

  26. @Vivarto

Global warming hysteria is total bullshit.

Well put. It is a financial scheme modeled around the premise of wealth transfer from nations who can be controlled by a sentimental narrative into the pockets of nations who are simply controlled.

  27. I’ve long suspected human caused climate change is the greatest scam ever foisted upon humanity. Nevertheless this is an interesting commentary.

Even without climate change Russia is in the best position of any major world power over the mid to long term. As for America, we have myriad of internal problems along with very powerful enemies arrayed against us. America’s continued existence beyond the next 10 years is problematic at best. I’m pretty sure Russian, Chinese, and allied leaders are grateful to whatever ever god(s) they believe in that they don’t have problems as severe as what America has.

The 21st century is going to be dominated by Russia, China, and those allied with them. Leadership needs to understand this reality and act accordingly.

  28. The first thing to understand is that global warming is global. And it’s not a conspiracy. It’s real.

Caused by use of Fossil Fuel especially since 1950 approx.

Fossil Fuel is Co2 locked up for aeons and then suddenly put into atmosphere.

We have known for 220 years it’s a warming gas.

The earth really is warming but can cause unpredictable weather that’s what can confuse.

Not one area is safe. Remember earth is a globe.

It really is the biggest worst possible thing.

(This video is so ignorant and so stupid – earth is one unified globe and there will be no winners and Israpundit must become a bastion of science)
