The dictator has purged his intelligence services, including sending spy chief Sergei Beseda to prison.
I have no idea whether this is true or not. Some other sites also claim that Putin has fired a number of FSB intelligence people and placed som of them in prison for failing to provide him with accurate intelligence about what was going on in Ukraine before the invasion, and failing in their promise to destabilize the Ukrainian government before the invasion. I think it would be in character for Putin to fire and even arrest his own officials if he believes they have let him and Russia down and screwed up. He has done this before.
As for his fearing a possible coup against him, that is also possible because he is a suspicious man. but I think that a coup is extremely unlikely. The Russian military and most government people are loyal to him, because they consider him a tough, decisive “tsar” who gets things done. They felt the same way about Stalin. Stalin was a very suspicious man and always feared a possible coup against him. But he needn’t have worried. Nearly everyone in the Soviet government and military admired Stalin for his decisiveness and toughness, and none thought there was anyone else who could be an equally tough boss.
Strong, aven dictatorial rulers are always popular in Russia. Those consider weak and indecisive have a way of being overthrown. Russians want a strong guy to rule them, not a weak or indecisive guy. Nicholas II was overthrown not because he was espcially cruel, but because nearly everyone thought he was weak, indecisive and incompetent.
Pentagon Spokesman John Kirby on. BBC referred to the ruthless aggression of Russia and this was in Donbass. Now some people do not know but the people in Donbass are Russians and had to declare Independence from Ukraine for a very important reason – Ukrainian Fascists aka the Army were murdering them. So I admire the Russian lady here and I detest the Brit liar, I detest totally his deceit, but we need a different way of answering which I’ll outline later.
