ZOA Investigates Anti-Zionist, JVP Offshoot ‘Congregation’

Tzedek Chicago’s Address Is a P.O. Box. It Previously Described Its Core Value as “Non-Zionism.”

By Morton A. Klein and Elizabeth Berney, Esq., ZOA

(APRIL 7, 2022 / JNS) At first, it seems like a cruel April Fool’s joke when a “congregation” misleadingly named “Tzedek Chicago” officially and “proudly” announced last week that it was adopting “anti-Zionism” as its “core value.” Palestinian Arab terrorists murdered 11 innocent Jews, Druze, Christians and Ukrainians in Israel the same week, and were threatening and planning more terror. Jews in synagogues throughout the world were mourning and offering heartfelt prayers for the well-being of Israel and her people. Why, then, was a supposed Chicago congregation siding with, and giving aid and comfort to, the murderers of innocent fellow Jews and others?

Since we had never previously heard of this “congregation,” we decided to investigate. It turns out that Tzedek Chicago is essentially an anti-Israel political group, an offshoot of Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) that distorts and omits the essence of Judaism—the Jewish people’s 2,000 years of prayers for “Next Year in Jerusalem!”

Tzedek Chicago’s address is a P.O. box. A Twitter contributor noted that the group’s sole live event in March was a 30-minute meeting in a church basement. “Anti-Zionism” is actually nothing new for Tzedek Chicago. It previously described its same “core value” as “non-Zionism.” Its Israel-bashing website repeatedly defames Jews and Israel, and relies on hyperlinks to vicious anti-Israel defamation groups B’TselemHuman Rights Watch (HRW); and JVP.

Tzedek Chicago was founded in 2016 by Reconstructionist Rabbi Brant Rosen, who is a leader of some of the worst anti-Israel organizations. Rosen simultaneously works as the Midwest regional director for the virulently anti-Israel American Friends Service Committee (AFSC). He also co-founded and co-chairs the Israel-hating JVP “rabbinical council.” These anti-Zionist groups are leading promoters of anti-Israel boycotts, divestment and sanctions, and every imaginable calumny against Israel and the indigenous Jewish people living in the Jewish state.

In addition, Rosen founded “Jewish Fast for Gaza” to protest against the weapons blockade that prevents Hamas from obtaining even more missiles with which to murder innocent Jews. What soullessness and insanity impels a supposed rabbi to side with Hamas, which is dedicated to murdering every Jewish man, woman and child throughout the world?

  1. @SEBASTIEN-

I understand your attitudes. But you are surely aware that it was that the 1960s and 70s are regarded as the decades in which the World went mad. and irreparably changed the focus of young people. Instability since then has become the new norm. We are now so sated with new events, horrific or wonderful as they may be, which cause at most a mere stir, soon to subside.

One thing Seb. (You should be in the Guinness Book of World Records (if that’s what it’s called).

Your second last sentence amounted to 53 words. which would need circular breathing (like a reed instrument player) to effectively read it aloud. Only kidding.

I know about your background, which you recounted before, but sometimes forget. To me, beep breathing, holding for a few seconds, and then exhaling slowly, has the same effect. Relaxing.

Why the hell did they have to wear turbans…affectations,,,?? to looks “different”….??

  2. @Edgar I don’t take the converts among them seriously as Jews but these tendencies were founded by actual Jews. I’m secular. To me, conversion isnonsense. I’m Jewish because all of ky ancestors were Jewish and it shows so I am a target and I can no more change that than I can change my species. But, you gave me the impression you don’t know if these tendencies which i dislike for their non or anti-Zionism and which like all Western religion, I am indifferent to on the merits because I had a New Age upbringing and to me spirituality is silent Buddhist meditation, Hindu chants and yoga. The New York I came of age in in the 70s, was filled with turbaned Jews in Ashrams.

  3. @SEDASTIEN-

I don’t know where you’re going with your attempt to re-educate me.

My wife was first converted to Judaism in a budding Reform congregation which borrowed a “Reconstructionist” “synagogue” on Oak Street in Vancouver. That was the first I’d heard of them, now just 50 years ago. I haven’t given them a single thought since. The Rabbi, who was Orthodox, but could only get the Reform job, explained all about “re-constructionists”, to satisfy the curiosity of his convert class. I sat in,

I care nothing for them, don’t regard them as Jews in the true sense. You do, SO we differ. No harm.

(The next week, after the Reform conversion (including a Mikvah) my wife had an orthodox conversion at Sha’ara Tzedek in Seattle, previously arranged.. We were married in Israel.).

Writers’ license- A “reconstructionist” for goodness sake. What is that ??? Don’t answer, I know what it is. Not a Jew Jew. but with past family Jewish connections. I knew all about Brant Rosen years ago already. No point in mouthing off against him. We can’t do anything about it. They’ve known about him for years. But only now dig him up again as a “news” item.

I felt more like burning off a few feelings about the weakness that Israel showed with the “tourists” on 3 month visas who refused to board the planes back to the US. On the contrary the govt allowed more “tourists” in.

Always wrankled, because they were black the weaklings were afraid to be called racists. . The govt persecutes religious Jews but gave these criminals the permission to dig in, and procreate with polygamous relationships. Like cancer. …and the Bedouins.

I know Seb it has nothing to do with the article. Strictly, should have been on Chit-chat. am still compos mentis. so don’t be concerned.

  5. @SEBASTIEN-

Possibly it may be looked into further and find that they are “messianic” mashuggenas, and not Jews at all. The very name arouses suspicion.

Didn’t the Black “Hebrews”, the ones that burrowed themselves into the Negev, originate from Chicago criminal circles. I read that they don’t regard Jews are real Jews but that the only real Jews are black..

They are all crazy, but the kind of crazy by which they make money.
