The Left is an echo chamber. The Right thinks for itself.

T. Belman. Unlike the left and the elite who follow the WEF drummer, the rightwing activists and journalists use critical thinking to understand what is really happening. Our one commonality is that we do not trust the MSM because we have been lied to by them since they whitewashed Obama. We do independent thinking and critical research before drawing conclusions. Mostly we end up with the same opinions.

Here is Lara Logan’s famous clip.

Victor describes what Candace Owens has been saying from the beginning. I never read her tweet but it is exactly what I have been saying except with different words.

The Left fears and hates the intrepid Lara Logan

By Victor Sharpe, RENEW AMERICA    Mar 20/22

Many of us who daily scan the so-called mainstream media (MSM) know only too well how their vicious barbs are aimed at conservative writers, reporters, and talk show hosts, including such luminaries as Sebastian Gorka, Dennis Prager, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Tucker Carlson, Lars Larson, et al. With apologies for not mentioning the many other fine conservative hosts.

Among those who receive particularly egregious and venomous leftwing harangues is Lara Logan. For the Left, her sin? Exposing those media apparatchiks who are deeply mired in spewing Leftist, Socialist, Islamist, Marxist, and frankly anti-American falsehoods.

Ms. Logan was a former correspondent for CBS’s “60 Minutes” and later a contributor on Fox Nation’s “Lara Logan Has No Agenda.” She has opined on many occasions about the transformation of the media from what it was meant to be, with many journalists now blurring the lines between fact and opinion.

“They’re not journalists,” Logan has argued, “they’re political assassins, working on behalf of political operatives and propagandists. A lot of media entities are increasingly working hand in hand with Big Tech companies to shape narratives and public discourse.”

Lara Logan started her journalist career at the age of 19 in South Africa. She has been a war correspondent and has experienced horrific acts of violence and mob rule in many of the world’s most dangerous places. In particular, she personally was attacked by an Egyptian Muslim mob in Cairo who committed an unspeakable act upon her. Such are the perils for women reporters during times of war and violence. Which brings us to her own views on the reporting by sectors of the American press in the current Russian/Ukraine war.

Ms. Logan has called much of the news about Ukraine “misinformation.” She said, “…[W]e’ve never really seen anything like it. I mean, I’ve been covering wars now for 35 years and there’s so much more going on in Ukraine that nobody is talking about.” Her claim that “Crimea wanted to belong to Russia” has rattled many in the MSM.

She slammed the Ukrainian Nazi group, Azov Battalion, and explained that it is leaving a trail of death and destruction in eastern Ukraine. “This is why Crimea wanted to belong to Russia. According to our leaders, only a few Ukrainian troops are involved. That is not true.” Logan pointed out that Ukraine used to be a headquarters for the SS, and revealed more about the Azov-Battalion’s Nazi connections:

“I mean, you can find pictures of them online holding up the NATO flag and the swastika. And at the same time, their own emblem contains the black sun of the occult, which was a Nazi SS emblem.”

Logan went on to link the Ukrainian military to the Azov Battalion, stating that “throughout the Ukrainian military you can see that black sun of the occult on their body armor, even on the female soldiers who are paraded in front of the world as being such an example of Ukraine’s independence and spirit and nobility.”

Logan reports that the United States and its various intelligence agencies have been funding and arming the Nazis in Ukraine for a long time. “The CIA under Allen Dulles actually gave immunity from prosecution to the Nazis of Ukraine during the Nuremberg trials. So there’s a long history of the United States and our intelligence agencies funding and arming Nazis in Ukraine. These are not, like, new neo-Nazi groups that sprung up. These are the actual Nazis.

“What troubles me about the moment that we’re in is that we have such a selective and narrow reading of history. President Zelenskyy is not the only one whose ancestors suffered at the hands of the Nazis. I mean, look at Putin. How many relatives did he lose in the siege of St. Petersburg? People don’t know their history. I don’t need to defend Vladimir Putin. My job as a journalist is to try to understand what is the truth here?

“I don’t like being lied to. And we’re being lied to on an epic scale. Putin knew exactly what he was doing when he invaded Ukraine,” Logan explained. “He did not go directly to Kiev. Instead, Russia went to all those biolabs in the country. So we should not just believe our leaders. After all, they lied about Corona.”

Conservative pundit, Candace Owens, has now called out the growing xenophobia the Russian people have been facing in Western countries after the beginning of Moscow’s military offensive in Ukraine.

“Absolutely appalling the way Russians are being treated in America and abroad,” Owens said recently in a Twitter post. “That our leaders and government institutions are allowing for – and at times calling for – this discrimination following their global Black Lives Matter hysteria is quite telling.”

Owens ended her tweet by declaring, “Russian Lives Matter.” She has previously spoken out against the BLM movement. Last month, she drew criticism when she blamed the US government and its NATO allies for escalating tensions in Ukraine by breaking promises to Moscow and expanding onto Russia’s doorstep.

Russian expatriates in the US, Canada and Europe have faced increasing discrimination and hatred amid the Ukraine crisis, especially since President Vladimir Putin began a military offensive in the former Soviet republic on February 24. Police in Calgary this month launched an investigation after receiving reports of Russian residents being harassed online, and vandals splashed a Russian Orthodox church in the city with red paint.

Yet again we see what Lara Logan has pointed out in her own words, which is worth repeating.

“…“I don’t like being lied to. And we’re being lied to on an epic scale. Putin knew exactly what he was doing when he invaded Ukraine, Logan explained. “He did not go directly to Kiev. Instead, Russia went to all those biolabs in the country. So, we should not just believe our leaders. After all, they lied about Corona.”

  1. @Adam
You may call anyone who doesn’t condemn Putin as being pro-Kremlin or a Putin-lover. That is an ad hominem attack.
Just because I wrote that Putin’s demands before the invasion were reasonable and should be accepted does not make me a “Putin lover” though I may be but does make me a fair minded person.

Biden is our enemy in Israel, not Putin.

I see this as a choice of Ukraine v Russia. I side with Russia.

  2. @Peloni

I find the claim regarding the restructuring of the Azov Battallion quite unlikely.

I do too. Even if they tried to do what is alleged, I doubt people would rush to join.

I find the claim regarding the restructuring of the Azov Battallion quite unlikely. Azov has been the key element of the Ukrainian forces since 2014, when it first led the successful attacks in the Dombas, to the regret and deaths of too many innocents. They were then incorporated into the govt forces as the elite front line battalion and was built around the ethos of Nazi propaganda and values. It is this force that has commanded the respect and success for the Eastern Ukrainians as they successfully butchered and maimed their Western countrymen who were later supported by Russian mercenaries. But Bellingcat would have us believe amid this great contest between east and west, the halmark of the Western Ukrainain armed forces would strip this successful unit of its central theme while stationed in the field in active duty? Replacing the leadership would not remodel the battalion, and if this process began in 2019 as is reported by Bellingcat it could not have been completed in 2019 as presumed by Bellingcat. I have not heard this claim reported elsewhere, not by anyone, not even as the propaganda machines of Ukraine and Russia are each at a bubbling boil and the reports of the Nazi’s have been well established by reports from BBC, Larry Johnson and many others who I would not count as Russophile or fools. I do find the OSInt group to be an interesting group and I would be interested to see what they base this report on, but their intelligence of geocoding and face recognition provide certain facts while this report seems less certain and, IMHO, problematic on a logistical basis given the effect ripping the Nazi credo would have on this premiere battalion amid the ongoing war.

Regarding Mariupol, it has been in the possession of Azov for many years, I think since 2015. So these people living there are living under the protection of the Azov, and likely are employed by them and protected by them. Additionally, Azov controls this area, so I would not expect that the censorship in Ukraine at the front lines where Azov is surrounded, the reports are going to be less censored than they are elsewhere. The propaganda is rife in the media without being in a forward area cutoff from any retreat while under the failing control of a battle hardened battalion, which has a fairly venal reputation, not withstanding the claims made by Bellingcat. I do believe that the Russians have been covering the news from a Russian perspective, but this has to be presumed to be the case in Mariopol as well, if not more so given their current and ongoing state of disintegration of their long held position and success.

By the way, I have seen reports of people attesting to the atrocities of the Ukrainians, just not covered in the one narrative at a time press. Ted shares some, but they are plenty enough more. It is a very visceral contest that has been ongoing for 8yrs, and the status quo is in flux and, well, war is hell, so it would be a terribly unique situation should such reports not be reported from either side, especially with the propaganda machines in full gear.

Finally, I find it unfair to suggest that just because someone has a different interpretation of events, and the causes of this current crisis or the resulting consequences from it should paint them as a pro-Kremlin activist – no more than I would suggest that someone supporting the Bennett/Lapid govt, which has inordinately awarded immense gifts to the Brotherhood, was a pro-Brotherhood activist. In any event, I thought I should share my thoughts on these matters that you raised, such as they are.

  4. I’ve always greatly admired Lara, but I think she is 100 percent wrong on this issue.

In 2019, the expose and investigative jounalism site Bellingcat reported that the Azov battalion, although founded by pro-Nazis, had come under a new leadership that repudiated Nazism, antisemitism and fascism. The new leadership was energetically recruiting “ordinary” Ukrainians without Nazi or fascist ties. Bellingcat also reported that “probably” the majority of Azov members as of 2019 were no longer Nazis or fascists.

I haven’t seen or read anything to suggest that the Azov group has become more pro-Nazi and pro-fascist than it was in 2019.

It should be obvious to everyone that the people of Mariupol are terrified of the Russians, not the Azov battalion. Huge numbers of refugees have been escaping from beseiged Mariupul and heading towards areas still under the control of the Ukrainian government. Very few have fled to Russian-held territory.

Anyone who follows the eyewitness, on-the-spot reporting, the interviews with survivors of the Mariupol siege, the photographs of the destroyed buildings, now most buildings in the city, the soldiers digging mass graves to bury all the civilian dead, should know that it is the Russians who are destroying Mariupul and massacring their inhabitants, not eh Azov battalion. The Azov battalion fighters in Mariupol have been thoroughly integrated into the Ukrainian regular forces in Mariupul.

It is also remarkable how little actual evidence the pro-Putin news commentators have presented to justify their views. For example, few if any interviews with Ukrainians telling that they had been subjected to atrocities by Ukrainian soldiers, or have witnessed such atrocities. Few if any interviews with people claiming that their houses were blown up or bombed by Ukrainian soldiers or aircraft. On the other hand, hundreds of broadcast interviews with people who say their homes were destroyed and /or their relatives killed by Russian bombing and shelling, numerous photographs of Ukrainians huddling in bomb shelters to survive Russian bombing raids, etc. The pro-Putin commentators have rarely if ever even attempted to refute any of this evidence of Russian aggression and wrongdoing. They simply as us to to take their word for it that the Ukrainians are the baddies and the Russians the good guys.

The Russian press has presumably been covering the war from the Russian point of view. If the conservative commentators really believed the Russians were the good guys, they could find someone to translate the coverage on Russian TV and Radio, and reporting from Russian newspapers, and broadcast them. They could interview Russian journalists who have been covering the fighting on the ground to get their perspective. They could interview Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine and ask them what they have done, seen and heard. But they haven’t done any of this.
I can’t explain how so many well-informed and intelligent commentators on the right have been supporting the bad guys and opposing people who are heroically defending their national independence from a militarily superior foreign invader. Their failure to make any serious effort to back up their claims with evidence raises doubts in my mind as to whether their anti-Ukraine, pro-Kremlin stance is sincere, or if there are ulterior motives behind it.

THe most likely ulterior motive is their hatred of the DP-Biden-Harris government, which is largely justified. So they assume that anyone whom Biden denounces and villifies must be a good. Also that it is their duty to oppose anything and everything that Biden supports.

  5. @ stevenl As much as I enjoyed it, the arrival of Trump was only a bump in the road for the Left, as it marches on to victory.

The title of this article unintentionally explains why the Left is successful. The “echo chamber” is the reason for their strength. They march in lock-step, and they all say the same thing. It is their unity of action and message, whether they actually “think” or not, that gives them their strength. The Right on the other hand, is more like a bunch of lone rangers, (albeit with a similar perspective), who lack unity. This was the appeal of Trump. He was a unifying force for the Right, but he only lasted four years. The Left is not likely to let that happen again.

  6. The US elitocracy (elitocratic party) is a combo of Dinos and Rinos who have been controlling the country for many decades.
The arrival of Trump is changing this corrupt dynamic!
