Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich has demanded that Maricopa County freeze all materials related to the recently completed audit of the 2020 election ahead of his office preparing litigation and additional investigation.
The Election Integrity Unit within the AG’s office sent a letter on Monday to the Arizona Senate “requesting supporting documents from the report released last week,” according to a press release. “Additionally, the EIU asked Maricopa County to preserve all documents and data related to the 2020 election.”
“The EIU cannot comment on specific allegations until its review is complete,” the statement continued.
“The Arizona Senate’s report that was released on Friday raises some serious questions regarding the 2020 election,” Brnovich added in a statement of his own. “Arizonans can be assured our office will conduct a thorough review of the information we receive.”
Earlier, Brnovich vowed: “I will take all necessary actions that are supported by the evidence and where I have legal authority. Arizonans deserve to have their votes accurately counted and protected.”
Meanwhile, Assistant Attorney General Jennifer Wright noted in a letter to county election officials the AG’s office is anticipating “further investigation or litigation” after a review of the audit report, which was released a week ago.
“In light of our review, as well as the expectation the review may lead to further investigation or litigation, this letter is to provide notice to Maricopa County that a litigation hold should be in effect regarding all potentially relevant materials related to the 2020 General Election, as well as potentially relevant materials related to the 2020 Primary Election and 2020 Presidential Preference Election (combined referred to as ‘2020 Statewide Elections’),” said the letter.
“Wright lists some of the items to be preserved, including all of the ballots and envelopes as well as logs that the county refused to turn over to the auditors,” The Star-News Network reported.

Brnovich’s request to Maricopa County covers a broad range of documents, from hard paper copies to electronically stored information, election equipment used to administer the election, and video recordings of the vote count, as well as logs of visitors who entered buildings used to conduct the election.
In his letter to the state Senate, Brnovich requests unredacted copies of the report generated by Cyber Ninjas, though it does not address whether that would include signatures, names, and other identifying information that the firm blacked out to protect voter privacy. It requests evidence that backs up two of the subcontractors’ reports and interviews with those who compiled the reports.
A number of GOP candidates running next year for U.S. Senate seats have also questioned Arizona’s election results, though they appeared to show again that President Joe Biden won the county. They include Ohio Republican Party Chairwoman Jane Timken and former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens.
Former President Donald Trump has also regularly questioned the outcome of the presidential race in the Grand Canyon State.
“The audit has uncovered significant and undeniable evidence of FRAUD! Until we know how and why this happened, our Elections will never be secure. This is a major criminal event and should be investigated by the Attorney General immediately,” Trump claimed in a statement ahead of the release of the audit’s findings.
Other reports following the release of last week’s audit report noted that it confirmed what had already been determined — that Biden was the victor in the state.
“A months-long hand recount of Maricopa County’s 2020 vote confirmed that President Joe Biden won and the election was not “stolen” from former President Donald Trump, according to early versions of a report prepared for the Arizona Senate,” Arizona Central reported.
“The three-volume report by the Cyber Ninjas, the Senate’s lead contractor, includes results that show Trump lost by a wider margin than the county’s official election results. The data in the report also confirms that U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly won in the county,” the outlet added.
In a letter to Brnovich, Arizona Senate President Karen said last Friday she was concerned about “several items” and planned to forward the reports to his office in consideration of further investigation.

Additionally, he believes the AZ Attorney General was actually more aggressive than he had anticipated as demonstrated by his demand for the Senate to turn over all findings and evidence, not just that which was included in the AZ Senate report. He also noted that the Senate is demanding the Attorney General pursue threats made against the Audit team. Tore also revealed that the patents that Powell revealed recently were part of her affidavit in the Kracken lawsuit. My understanding is that many of the details that have come to light in recent months were included in her affidavid included in the Kracken lawsuit.
