Jordan’s stability: strategic overview – VERY INFORMATIVE

T. Belman. If you want to understand Jordan, this discussion is indispensable.
The participants argue that Jordan’s stability is very important to all its neighbors particularly Israel
At the same time it points our the threats to that stability.

They argue that Jordan is a supporter of the two state solution and thus a friend of the Palestinians in Israel. They ignore that advocates of the two state solution are perpetuating the conflict. Jordan takes this position in order to prevent Jordan becoming the Palestinian state. i.e, they want Palestine to be created west of the river, not east of it.

Thus these experts are at odds with the Jordan Option.
– Palestinians represent about 75% of the population of 9 million and they are marginalized by the current regime.
– The Palestinians argue that the King is robbing the country of its wealth making it a debtor nation.
– That the people are very poor and have no future.
– That the Palestinians will do a better job at running the country for the people and that they will make a more stable Jordan

  1. @ Ted Belman:
    Your concepts have interest.

The real question is the execution of the concepts by people who have the finances, ability and power! So far this is not visible.

  2. @ Bear Klein:
I agree but we have taken that into account.

Instead of building industrial parks in Area C, we should build them in Jordan.
Instead of UNRWA being responsible to provide for refugees in Gaza and J&S, health care, education and Social Security, UNRWA should be cancelled and Jordan should provide it for all refugees who emigrate to Jordan.

In addition, we believe that with the influx of Palestinians to Jordan, Jordan should build a million person City using Palestinian labour.

These are just some of our ideas.

  3. It would be great from my perspective ir the Arabs of Jerusalem, Judea/Samaria would emigrate elsewhere. Will they go to Jordan? Jordan is so poor with such high unemployment. Why would they go there in large numbers?

Do people move to places where the job prospects and living standards are worse than they live now? I do not think so.

So unless something changes the situation in Jordan, the Jordan option is not really viable.
