| As I said during the event, “If criticism of Israel isn’t anti-Semitic, then we must be able to speak about anti-Semitism without imposing criticism of Israel on the discussion.”
During our conversation, Peter endorsed the mission of End Jew Hatred and agreed that there is a systemic problem of anti-Semitism — and that it must come to an end. He said:
“I will certainly say that I support the effort of trying to combat Jew-hatred as much as possible, of course. How could I not? I’m a Jew. I’m not only a Jew, I’m visible as a Jew in a lot of my life. Of course I’m concerned . . . my children go to a Jewish day school which has barricades against potential people trying to come in. I go to a synagogue which has armed guards. Of course I want to End Jew Hatred. It would be insane for me not to.”
The Jewish people are being targeted with violence, bigotry, and discrimination. It does not matter if you are right-wing or left-wing, democrat or conservative, or so-called “pro-Israel” or “anti-Zionist” — Jews are being targeted around the world for being Jewish. The End Jew Hatred movement provides a platform for Jewish people to come together, despite differing opinions or politics, and coalesce around one message: Jew-hatred is wrong, there is systemic Jew-hatred in both western and eastern cultures, and we must unify to defeat Jew-hatred during our lifetime. Not especally. I was referrng to Jews in general. I was in Israel for 14 years and don’r rlcall ever meeting a Reform” Jew. They were just Jews , presumably of all shapes colours and varying attachment to Judaism. I never hear varieties of adherence even discussed , except a brief few words on the the extreme ultra religious sect in Jerusalem, in Mea Shirim. I was brought there by my very religious , but very nice elder cousin to buy a new talls and tephillin.
They are regarded as crazy by the vast majority, and I think they are right.

The professor is wrong about Jew hated in the East and in the West.
Jew hatred exists in Christian and Muslim worlds.
There is no Jew hatred among Hindus, Buddhists, Taoist.
Hindu Indians love Jews and Israel.
Non-Muslim Chinese have positive opinion about Jews.
So do the Japanese in general.
He preaches unity but his role is to divide us.

I just realized the only thing that was different when I was a boy. Israel-bashers were a marginalized lunatic fringe without a mass audience. Leftists had not completed the “March Through The Institutions”, Israel was our ally against the Communist blocs, Muslims had not poured into the country, and there was no internet. I think promoting Israel’s virtues and achievements helps. China does the same thing, here. But, the handwriting may be on the wall. The future may only lie in Israel.
Antisemites always quote Jews who defame Israel. Who is he to preach? And, just who is he preaching to? What possible solutions can come out of such an event?
All this conference does is confer legitimacy on Beinart. I fail to see how any sort of positive solution could come of preaching to the choir, here, about what the problem is in part. The Lawfare Project mainly defends Israel and Jews who are victimized by Pro-Palestinian hooligans on campuses, in particular SJP . Would Beinart sign onto any of that?

Asian-Americans are being attacked for being wrongly associated with China. No amount of education will change how adults think today and it’s debatable whether it will have more impact on tomorrow’s adults than the other social influences in their lives, such as family, church, etc. There is way more antisemitism today than there was when I was growing up in the 60s and 70s, and there was no Holocaust education. There were no Holocaust museums. I didn’t even know about it until I was 10 when my father, a survivor, himself, told me his story. I remember having a surreal debate with a slightly older non-Jewish boy I knew when we were both sometime before I turned 9 about who the worst tyrants in history were and he said the Germans and I said the British because I had just learned about the American Revolution and the Boston Tea Party and I was mad as hell about it and – wait for it – I had never heard of the Germans.

Yes, what you say is very true. I agree that Israel’s performance weakens the haters of Jews but will NEVER weaken the Hate for Jews.
The American Jews, as a whole do not relise just how important to them, the mere existence of Israel is. They only way they will find out will be a very painful one for them. So the stronger Israel is, the better for us all.
My opinion has always been, and expecially since my personal experiences and those of others whom I respect, is that 50-60% of Israel’s public is at best, mediocre, or rotten to their cores, and the country is really kept going anf increasing in strength by about a dedicated 20%.

I agree with you the existence of Israel does nothing for the Jew hater who will not stop hating Jews.
I am simply mean Zionism is the answer for Jews. Jews do not have a better answer. Israel is not perfect but its existence as a home for any Jew who needs or wants its as a home is the best solution for Jews.
The strength of Israel and its’ permanence weakens the haters of Jews and Israel.

BEAR- The existence of Israel matters nothing to a Jew hater. Has it not been long shown ,over and pver, by skilled psychologists and other mental disorder experts, that Jew-Hate is a completely irrational hatred. many people who “hate” Jews may have never even met a Jew.
All Israel does is give a sense of pride to the harried Jew, and a refuge, but nothing much to alter Jew-hate. It merely includes “Zionism”, and extends to Israel also because that’s where Jews are….unless that hatred was only skin deep. Even a hater can admire the skill of an enemy whilst hating the fact that he possesses it.
Even the Arab countries tumbling over themselves -metaphorically-, to make alliances with Israel, are not doing it for “Jew-Love”. They are Muslims and have had Jew-Hate deeply instilled in them from birth. They are merely pragmatic.
There is NO solution to Jew-Hate, except through a certain, very stringent and diligent kind of education, both in the schools, CHURCHES, playing fields, literature and expecially HOMES. (I’ve missed out a few places)
And in what century do you think this is going to occur. And for how many generations before a “pure strain” emerges. ????
The stupid Jew or Jew with his head in the sand does not realize that Israel is the answer to Jew hatred. It is the home for all Jews who want it.
