  1. @ GreatWhiteNortherner: I agree. All this talk about the Insurrection Act is an urban legend. President Trump once threatened to invoke the insurrection act to supress the insurrections in Portland and Seattle. But he never followed up on this threat. To the best of my knowledge, the Insurrection Act has never actually been invoked by any American president except Lincoln, was forced to invoke it in 1861 when the Sourthern secession occurred. President Jefferson persuaded Congress to adopt it 1807 after former vice president Aaron Burr made an unsuccessful attempt to seize the Western territories of the United States west of the Missisippi and declare himself Emperor. But Burr’s plot quickly fizzled out.As a result, Jefferson never had to invoke the act.

I understand why many people can’t accept that Trump lost the election, albeit because of election fraud, and Biden has succeeded him as President, even though his election was of dubious legality. But that is no reason to believe in fantasies of a miraculous overthrow of Biden and a restoration of Trump by the military. The chairman of the joint chiefs and 100 other senior military officers have signed a declaration pledging their allegence to Biden, and Esper and other senior officers have confirmed this in a press conference.

Proponents of this fantasy don’t understand that the senior officers of the u.S. military are cut from the same cloth as the civilian bureaucrats, and for the most part share their establishment views and values.

The U.S. military is not and neveer has been an institution separate from the civilian government, and has never been willing and able to act independently of civilian authority. The wish of the founding fathers that the civilian authorities have control over the military has been followed for 240 years. And that is as it should be. It is unfortunate that the Democratic Party machine was able to persuade the state governments and Congress that Biden won the election. But that is what happened, and once Congress and the state governments with the majority of electors recognized Biden as the President, the military accepted their verdict.

I do believe that there is hope that the political situation can be turned around in 2021, 2022, and 2024 by peaceful but tough-minded and hard-fought electoral politics. It will be very difficult, but it can be done. However, if people sit back and expect the military to reinstate Trump, or think they can organize some sort of guerilla insurgency to overthrow Biden, then the DP machine will consolidate its power for decades.

  2. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me ____ — I’ve lost count.

Seriously, as much as I’d like to believe accountability and justice are coming why should anyone think that’s anything more than wishful thinking and that the military isn’t under the full control of the Biden administration, especially in light of recent statements by Christopher Miller and Ezra Cohen-Watnick about having been thrown under the bus? And let’s not forget Sebastian Gorka’s unequivocal statement BEFORE Jan 6 that Trump would not be invoking The Insurrection Act.

I realize the MSM has lost whatever credibility it still had on Nov 3, but just because we’re starved for the truth doesn’t mean we should trust unknown alternative news sources, including this latest one without long term track records of reliable reporting.

If the choice is between no hope and false hope I’ll take the former, adjust to the injustice and act accordingly, just like the Jewish people have had to do for centuries.
