Netanyahu & Gantz Save Israel from a Political Nightmare

T. Belman. Apparently there was a major trade off. Likud safeguarded the extention of sovereignty pursuant to the Trump Plan by giving up close to half the ministries to Gantz including Defense, Foreign  and Judicial.

Prime Minister Netanyahu succeeded in convincing Blue & White leader Benny Gantz to join an emergency coalition government and stop the dangerous political plan Gantz had put into action; relying on the anti-Israel Joint Arab list, with the assistance of the Supreme Court in damaging Israel’s democratic system.

Caroline Glick has a fabulous short analysis of the breakup of Blue & White and Benny Gantz’s agreement to join a coalition with Netanyahu. For her full analysis see the full interview below.

I have been extremely critical of Benny Gantz and his Blue & White party in their evil plan to form a government with the support of the anti-Israel Joint Arab list at the same time as damaging Israel’s democracy, hand in hand with the judicial establishment by allowing them to usurp the powers of Israel’s legislative branch, the Knesset. He ran three election campaigns focused on one promise – to get rid of Netanyahu from the Israeli political scene, it was called the “anything but Bibi” coalition, and he was willing do anything to accomplish it, even partnering with anti-Israel forces.

Literally seconds before Gantz would have been unable to turn back from implementing that plan, Netanyahu succeeded in convincing him to stop it. Instead, Gantz made the first correct political decision of his short political career and decided to join up with Netanyahu in forming an emergency government so that the State of Israel can finally have a government to properly deal with the coronavirus that is the most pressing issue our country faces. It was a bold move that he must be given credit for, while at the same time not forgiven for the horrendous plan he was almost successful in implementing.

As a result of his decision to join an emergency government with Netanyahu, two of his leadership partners in Blue & White split off from him and instead are taking their seats and heading to the opposition. Israel has a huge challenge in dealing with the coronavirus and the crippled economy due to the pandemic. We finally have a government, under the leadership of Netanyahu to do just that. Glick also is optimistic that this new government will move forward and apply sovereignty in areas of Judea & Samaria together with the approval of the Trump administration.

Now that the dream of Israel’s left to get rid of Netanyahu is dead, I wouldn’t be surprised if the leftist media together with the judicial establishment now push the investigation into Gantz’s failed company & also push for the lifting of the censorship on the Ashkenazi/Harpaz recordings. The media and judicial establishment have been covering for those two from the beginning of the first election until today when they were the big white hope to take down Netanyahu. Now that Gantz and Ashkenazi have joined with Bibi, the media and judicial establishment might not hide that information anymore. Revenge can be ugly.

  1. One of the trouble with Israeli government is that the head of Ministries are appointed as political perks instead of the most capable person available. I agree with the Israel doctors who would like the head of the Health Ministry to be a physician. Minimally a trained experienced Hospital Administrator.

Israeli doctors demand health minister be replaced by professional
In an open letter Netanyahu and Gantz, doctors lament years of neglect that left the country’s health care system at its lowest point during the time of coronavirus outbreak; sources say there are no plans to replace Litzman in the next government

  2. @ adamdalgliesh:
Trouble with you analogy is that power is equally shared but the right will have 61 MKs as Hauser, Hendel, are joining along with Gesher. So the left can not take over if it comes to a vote.

  3. “Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met Saturday night with Israel Resilience Chairman MK Benny Gantz and MK Gabi Ashkenazi, to discuss a unity government.

Under the agreement, Netanyahu is expected to serve a year and a half as prime minister, after which Gantz will replace him for another year and a half. Israel Resilience is expected to support a law which will allow Netanyahu to serve as Deputy Prime Minister and a member of Cabinet, despite the charges against him. Sources in Israel Resilience have said they will insist that Netanyahu not serve as a minister.

Israel Resilience is counting on each of its MKs receiving a ministerial position, while Likud will receive just ten portfolios under the deal.

Israel Resilience expects to receive the Foreign, Defense, Justice, and Communications ministries.

The main disagreements between the parties include Israel Resilience’s demand not to re-elect MK Yuli Edelstein (Likud) to his position as Knesset Speaker, due to the fact that he resigned the position due to the Supreme Court’s interference. However, the Likud refuses to back down from its demand to reinstate Edelstein, demanding that both that position and the Health Ministry remain in the hands of the right-wing bloc.

Channel 13 reported that the agreements between the sides include canceling the Kaminitz Law, which includes a series of legislative amendments to improve the government’s ability to deal with illegal construction and enable more effective enforcement of planning and construction laws.

Cancelation of the Kaminitz Law was a demand put forth by the Joint Arab List, in exchange for their support of Gantz’s candidacy for prime minister.”

Take note of the facts that a) the Gantz “Resilience” party will dominate the government, not the right-wing parties, b) while the Arab parties won’t actually be in the government, one of their key demands–to allow them to engage in illegal construction on Jewish-owned and state land–is part of the agreement, c) the three most important portfolios–Defense, Foreign Affirs, and the Justice–will all be in the hands of Resilience. This will allow Gantz to strike his desired “Munich” deal with the PLO and Haamas. Control of the Justice ministry will enable the trials of Netanyahu and the other rightwing ministers (LItzman, Deri and several others being investigated by the Mendelblit gang and the police) to go forward, while ending the investigation, begun by the interim chief prosecutor who will now be replaced, into Gantz’s fraudulent theft of 4 million shekels from the Defense department.

This deal is a Trojan Horse for a complete leftist takeover of the government.

  4. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Knesset Speaker Benny Gantz were to meet Saturday evening to discuss a unity government.

Both Likud and Israel Resilience say that as part of the unity government agreement, legislation will be drafted that will allow Netanyahu to remain interim prime minister and a member of the cabinet despite his criminal indictment and until a verdict is announced in his trial.

  5. TV: Hendel, Hauser aim to join coalition, which would give PM 61 right-wingers, marginalize Gantz

Blue and White MKs Zvi Hauser and Yoaz Hendel are planning to join Benny Gantz in a unity government led by Benjamin Netanyahu, Channel 12 reports.

According to the report, should the rightist lawmakers break off from the Telem faction within Blue and White and join a coalition, the government would have 61 lawmakers with right-wing views. (The 58 in the Likud, Yemina, Shas, United Torah Judaism bloc, plus Gesher’s Orly Levy-Abekasis and the two Telem MKs.) This means, it notes, that if Netanyahu seeks to advance annexation or other steps after the pandemic ends, Gantz would not be able to prevent it or break up the coalition.

As part of the negotiations, Netanyahu is seeking legislation saying that an acting prime minister under indictment can continue to serve, in order to ensure he can fill that role when his prime ministerial rotation with Gantz is slated to go into effect in the fall of 2021. Currently, ministers must resign if they face criminal charges, but the law does not explicitly refer to a prime minister.

  6. @ Bear Klein:

What their intention is, I propose, is, that if they join, they will band together with Gantz in a bloc, and be a large Trojan horse in the Govt- It may have been planned that way, because their open showing of personalized, directed, hatred for a whole year, doesn’t suddenly disappear overnight, it lasts a lifetime- and so they have instantly become “patriots”–

NO, I don’t believe this— I also don’t believe that Netanyahu NEEDED to cave in, and give them all the important, dominating Ministries;they will control everything/ He slipped up here-

The were desperate to get into government, and would have agreed to the sovereignty of the areas in any case, just to be in govt They saw their own “Party” was on the verge of shattering, and even with the Arab mamzerim, they hadn’t the votes; and had NO choice but to join/ They must have been taking polls around the clock, and saw that they were being blamed for the crisis, so Gantz began being concerned about the country and People, making platitudinous speeches, as if butter wouldn’t melt in his (coarse) mouth—

  7. Labor, Gesher consider joining Gantz in Netanyahu-led government
The expression of interest from both party leaders comes amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic facing the country, and following the split between the Israel Resilience party and Blue and White.

Levy-Abecassis noted her interest in joining a Netanyahu-led government, likely in a bid to receive the Health Ministry. The UTJ is likely to object to this. Perhaps she would be an upgrade.

As far as I am concerned Labor could stay out.
