Ted Belman. If India can do it so can Israel.
Indian Court tells gvmt to evict over 1 million indigenous from homes in public forest land who had ‘not met legal criterion to live there’.

India’s Supreme Court has ordered its government to evict a million people from their homes for the good of the country’s wildlife.
The Washington Post reported the ruling, issued Wednesday, concluded a decade-long case that pitted some of India’s most vulnerable citizens’ rights against the preservation of its forests.
The court told the government to evict over one million members of indigenous tribes from their homes in public forest land “because they had not met the legal criterion to live there”, reported the Post.
With over 700 tribal groups, India is home to over 100 million indigenous people. While forest land is legally controlled by the government, people have lived in these areas for centuries. The number of affected people is estimated to go up to 1.89 million when more states comply with the order.
Human Rights Watch acting Managing Director Nicholas Dawes wrote the ruling had “staggering” implications for India’s most marginalized.
They can demand all they like, so what? Of course “all things are possible”, but there is absolutely nothing in our current government’s DNA that makes this even a remote possibility. I’m not a Bibi fan but if he goes down this time the next government will give a plan such as this or anything resembling it even less chance. Can Israel do this? Factually perhaps, but in reality in today’s environment….not an iota of a chance….zip, nada, kloom.

The international community has been demanding that Israel evacuate nearly a million Jews from Yesh and Jerusalem — after they already evacuated 10,000 from Gaza.
Ted is right — Israel CAN do this; but if it’s Arabs that suffer, the international community will be up in arms. If Jews suffer, they will applaud.
All things are possible.
Seriously Ted? In what world do you live in? We passed up on the right time to do this long ago, and as Adam intimated, we are so scared of the int’l community’s reactions we have lost all semblance of sovereignty. Metal detectors? Golden Gate? Tons and tons of precious proof of our roots taken out in dump trucks…from our capitol city. I could go on and on….and on. Yet somehow you think suddenly Bibi has grown a pair, our Supreme Court has regained its’ appropriate place in the system, and/or that the world will turn a blind eye, as they seemingly will do with India’s actions.
Again……fantasyland.
Unfortunately, Ted, Israel cannot do what India apparently intends to do. The “International community” as well as its own “activist” Supreme Court insist that Israel play by much stricter rules than the rest of the world. Antisemitism? Yes. Reality? Yes.
