Here’s an exclusive in possible answer to your question. Haley quit now in order to allow some time to elapse between her ambassidorship and her next gig. She will be Trump’s ranning mate in 2020.
Both she and Trump hinted at this. She said she would be stumping for him and he said she could have any job she wanted.
Ambassador Haley did not sum “it all” up, in my book. A glaring exception is,
“Why did you resign at the time you did, especially since you “planned to do so” for six months? Why now, just before the election, when the eyes of the world are focused on Washington, President Trump and people close to him?
Another good question is,
“Why, Ambassador, if you support the President so much, did you adorn the last leg of the election campaign with headlines that call into question the ability of Mr. Trump and the Republicans to govern? They just won a great victory, in securing the seating of Justice Kavanaugh. They are ecstatic at this moment. Why have you burst the party balloons?
I am not a Washington insider, nor a New York insider, nor a politician, nor a member of the press, nor an academic in the field of politics; yet as an American, as a stakeholder in what goes on way over at the east end of my large country, I sense the need to try to come up with some sort of answer to the above questions.
There is also something I noticed: Just after President Trump finished praising Mrs. Haley, she made a few comments in which she went out of her way to praise the Trump family — and in particular, Jared Kushner, whom she described as a “hidden genius”.
Kushner did not get involved in the Kavanaugh hearings. He does not seem connected with Rod Rosenstein and the Russia investigation. He has been largely replaced by Mike Pompeo in Korea and even in China. He has little or nothing to do with border security, the “Me Too” movement, nor any other issue in the national spotlight. He is involved deeply in the Middle East “Peace” process, which has taken the back seat in recent month to all the above.
Did Trump and Haley collude, to bring up the resignation at this moment, in order to re-focus the national dialogue onto the Middle East? Is it coincidence that the announcement was followed quickly by the meeting at AIPAC shown in the OP?
I think it is reasonable to answer “yes” to the above. If Trump’s hand is so involved in this resignation, then, it makes me think that despite the praise, he really wants to get rid of her; and the rumors that he is thinking of replacing here with a Clinton-connected Goldman Sachs Deep-Stater with a strong portfolio in the Middle East (namely, Dina Powell) may indicate one face of the upcoming Middle East Peace proposal. The other face is Javanka Kushner, whom Trump neglected to mention but Haley made sure not to omit.
I have too many questions right now, and too few answers.
