Arutz Sheva reported,
U.S. President Donald Trump said during a rally in West Virginia on Tuesday that Israel will have to pay a “high price” in its negotiations with the Palestinian Authority (PA) in return for his decision to move the American embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
Trump added that the PA will “get something very good” in return for the embassy move “because it’s their turn next.”
He did not offer any details on what the Palestinian Arabs will get in return for the embassy move.
I find this very distrubing. The Arabs have no legal claim or rights to anything. Why should they get anything in return for Trump recognizing reality as he has said. The idea that Israel must pay a high price for something that is theirs is very troublesome.
This is not the first time he has referred to the price we must pay.
In his remarks on Tuesday, Trump said that since Jerusalem is now “off the table”, Israel will have to give something in return to the Palestinian Arabs.
“If there’s ever going to be peace with the Palestinians, then this was a good thing to have done,” Trump said on the embassy move. “We took it off the table. In past negotiations, they never got past Jerusalem becoming the capital. So I said ‘let’s take it off the table’. And you know what? In the negotiations, Israel will have to pay a higher price, because they won a very big thing. But I took it off the table.”
“But they [the Palestinian Authority] will get something very good next, because it’s their turn next. We’ll see what happens. It’s very interesting.”
Trump also pointed out that he “understands now” why previous presidents did not follow through on their promises to move the American embassy to Jerusalem, saying he received endless phone calls from world leaders urging him not do it.
“I also recognized the capital of Israel and opened the American embassy in Jerusalem. And I understand now what happened, because every president – many, many presidents, said ‘We’re going to do it. We’re going to move our embassy to Jerusalem. It’s going to be the capital of Israel. We’re going to do it – and then they don’t do it. Politicians – they don’t do it.”
“I was inundated with calls from foreign leaders. Every country: ‘Don’t do it, don’t do it – please don’t do it.'”
“But I approved it, and it should have been done years ago,” he said.
The comments come as Trump’s administration continues to work on its peace plan for Israel and the PA.
Two weeks ago, a source said that the U.S. National Security Council has published a tender to hire experts for a steering committee to be established for the plan. The committee would allegedly be chaired by Middle East special envoy Jason Greenblatt, who is working on the peace plan along with Trump’s senior adviser, Jared Kushner.
According to the source, the administration would not be able to present the final peace plan until 2019.
National Security Spokesperson Garrett Marquis later told Arutz Sheva that the report was false.
Greenblatt last week posted a tweet about the peace plan in which he said that neither side will be satisfied with the proposal, but that was the only way to achieve true peace.
The statement, which was posted to Greenblatt’s Twitter in English, Hebrew and Arabic, was signed by him, Kushner, U.S ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley and U.S. ambassador to Israel David Friedman.
Why does the Trump team keep harping on the idea that no one will be satisfied. Although, Trump is expected to announce his Plan on sept 25 at the UN, in all probability it wont be the final peace plan which will have to wait until 1919.
Besides, “Jerusalem is not off the table”. Aaron Lerner reports,
Moving the Embassy Didn’t Take Jerusalem Off The Table.
It didn’t even take the portion of Jerusalem that was on the Israeli side of
the Green Line in 1967!Not even for the United States.
Prove it?
American citizen David Cohen was born at Shaare Zedek Medical Center that is
located kilometers within the Green Line. What country appears on his US passport for place of birth?
NO COUNTRY!!
Instead it reads “Jerusalem”!
So your own administration hasn’t even taken “western Jerusalem” off the
negotiating table. And that’s before we start talking about “eastern Jerusalem”!
You talk about Israel making costly concessions.
Let’s be clear about this.
We aren’t talking about a dollar price for a deal.
Israel’s red lines are not opening negotiating points.
They are red lines because we cannot go any further without jeopardizing our
future.Israel can’t “pay” for a deal with a “payment” that strips the deal of its
viability.
@ Russell:
Too true. Witness the correlation between Tromp’s perceived political fortunes as they rise or fall in contrast to his evident success as POTUS against his active AND rhetorical support fo Israel’s G-d given inheritance of Eretz/State of Israel. That’s why he is where he is with the power granted to him. If he fails in his Edomic mission to protect Israel, the powerful house of cards intending to bring him down with lies and innuendo could prove successful. @ Ted Belman:
Hope it happens!
However, the terrorist Arabs west of the Jordan River (and those in Gaza and elsewhere) will still need to be put down as they will not change stripes or beliefs that they want to destroy Israel. They have always wanted to destroy Israel more than they want a state.
@ Bear Klein:
The other alternative is for Mudar to become the ruler of Jordan. He is ready to reafirm the Jordan R as the border and reaffirm citizenship for all Palestinians. Israel then annexes all the land and ends Oslo.
For many years I read articles about various deals that do not happen and those that will not happen, including Trumps. Trump says if his plan does not work none will. That is ego talking but he is right but maybe not for the reason he thinks.
If the goal is to make peace between the Israelis and Arabs including the now called Palestinians then there will not be peace. They completely reject the idea of the legitimacy and permanence of the Jewish State of Israel. The reject the actually Jewish history in the area and Jewish rights to have a state on land that has been previously governed by Muslims. Whether their belief is based on pan Arab-ism or Pan-Islamism they want Israel destroyed. This has been the case for over 100 years and is not changing.
So the only possibility of peace is not via negotiated agreement but via a military victory that demolishes all Arab terror groups from Gaza to the Jordan River (Hamas, PLO, PA, Islamic-Jihad………..) Israel then taking over the whole area completely and dictating peace terms. Any terrorist supporters shall also be persona non-grata. Arab populations shall be encouraged with incentives to emigrate out of Israel.
Trump is trying to lure Pals on board with his plan I suspect. Economic Incentives. A plan in which one party is fighting before it sees it even. The Pals are blasting Trumps comments on that they will happy even though he took Jerusalem off of the table. Chance of a plans success??????

@ Edgar G.:
I said “fatuous”…I should have said “asininely dangerous”. !!
Trump must be very careful, he is messing with power much greater than he and what G-d has given, no man should try to take away, divide or trade with, especially doing deals with genocidal Arabs. Trump might be a better and more trustworthy POTUS than predecessors but he is still only a man, mortal, vulnerable, fallible and has a tendency to sin, just like the rest of us. I do not expect Israel would be foolish enough to put too much trust in him. This is looking as if its going to be just one more of many failed peace plans.
I just made a similar comment in Chit Chat about this same Trump announcement. But mine was rather the product of an offended and irritated mind. In other words…..”a Gantze Megillah”.
What about their “scheme” for that’s all I can call it, to make sure that NOBODY will be satisfied and then make the fatuous remark that this is the only way to have peace. I say it causes the exact contrary, like spur to a fractious, even recalcitrant wild horse..
