Ted. Belman. In Pres Trump’s speech in which he recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital six months ago, he said “This is nothing more or less than a recognition of reality,”. Pence similarly chose “fact over fiction”. In effect they were freeing themselves from the Palestinian narrative which is pure fiction. We have been prevented from achieving peace in the past because we had elevated this fictional narrative to a competing narrative. Henceforth, truth and reality will hold sway. The Jordan Option becomes the logical choice.
Vice President welcomes embassy relocation, vows the U.S. will never allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon.
U.S. Vice President Mike Pence on Monday night delivered remarks at an event celebrating Israel’s 70th Independence Day at the Israeli embassy in Washington, DC.
Pence welcomed the relocation of the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, noting that President Trump “has made history now. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, almost exactly 70 years to the minute since the rebirth of the Jewish State, the American Embassy officially opened in Jerusalem, the capital of the State of Israel!”
“By finally recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, the United States has chosen fact over fiction – and fact is the only true foundation for a just and lasting peace. And as President Trump made clear this morning, ‘our greatest hope is for peace,’” he continued.
Pence also mentioned the Iran nuclear deal, from which President Trump withdrew last week, noting that as Trump said when announcing his decision to withdraw, “the Iran deal ‘didn’t bring calm, it didn’t bring peace, and it never will.’ In fact, Iran’s unprecedented missile attacks on Israel last week only confirmed the President’s decision, and this dangerous act of aggression only strengthened our resolve.”
“And so today, let me assure you all… the United States of America will never allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon – that is our solemn promise to Israel and to the world!” he vowed.
“We stand with Israel because her cause is our cause, her values are our values, and her fight is our fight. We stand with Israel because we believe in right over wrong, good over evil, and liberty over tyranny. And we stand with Israel because that’s what Americans have always done – for in the story of Israel, we see the power of faith, and the promise of hope,” continued the Vice President.
“Israel will go from strength to strength – and her first 70 years will just be a glimpse of what’s to come – and the United States and Israel will meet our glorious future together,” he concluded.
@ Bear Klein:
I am writing an article now that covers this stuff. Expect to publish on Sunday as I am currently in Toronto.
How many people of influence in other countries actually care if the Pals have a country of their own? The Pals care more about destroying Israel than having a country of their own. Otherwise they could have had a country several times in the past.
So in my mind the main issue that is hard to solve it what to do about the Arabs west of Jordan River. They are a constant source of problems. I am very skeptical that this issue gets solved even if Jordan were to officially become the Palestinian State. Yes, it would be good if Jordan were the Pal State and allow immigration of those who consider themselves Palestinians and live west of the Jordan River.
I believe Martin Sherman is correct when he says the number of Arabs living west of the Jordan River must be greatly reduced. All terror groups starting with the Hamas must be destroyed. The PA must be eliminated the minute it gets rid of the security coordination. Since they will stop getting funds from the USA they will likely implode anyway. Israel needs to take control of the PA areas if this happens.
Two NGOs need to be formed one to buy properties (if legal proof can be provided) from Arabs starting in Jerusalem and then Arab villages in Area C. These properties then should be sold to Jews ONLY. A second NGO needs to be formed to help Arabs emigrate including a financial incentive.
Israel needs to take population census and registration of Area C. Israel needs to apply Israeli Civil Law to Area C and allow NO more Arabs to move in or build there. Any illegal Arab structures must be razed to the ground.
