Unworthy Abbas Honored in the White House

As a great supporter of President Trump, I was saddened to see the leader of the free world welcome to the White House the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, who has been a tyrant, Holocaust denier and the cofounder of modern Islamic terrorism. What is the most disturbing is the fact, that this meeting has elevated the untrustworthy Abbas’s prestige and credibility and made him relevant at the time when he is a weakened political figure who is unpopular among his own people and the moderate Sunni states who see the Palestinian issue as an obstacle to getting closer to Israel and America in a united front against Iran.

How do you explain the fact that Trump said during the meeting that it was “an honor” to have the Palestinian president, who was the cofounder of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) and modern Islamic Terrorism, and who was second in command to the notorious Yasser Arafat, whose sole purpose was the total and complete destruction of the Jewish state?

How do you explain the fact that Trump greeted Abbas, the unelected figure of a dysfunctional, corrupt, nonstate entity outside the West Wing of the White House in the same way he greeted the democratically elected prime minister of the state of Israel and one of America’s closest allies, Benjamin Netanyahu? Abbas has stayed in power for the last nine years without holding any new elections and recently consolidated his power by jailing journalists.

How do you explain President Trump having lunch in the White House with a Palestinian leader who has been the author of fake news and history as an infamous Holocaust denier? Mr. Abbas in 1982 argued in his PhD dissertation that the Zionists collaborated with the Nazis and incited violence against the Jews, living under Nazi rule, to spur more Jewish immigration to Palestine and denied that six million Jews were murdered.

Why does Trump believe that peace is possible with the head of the Palestinian Authority, who in 2010 instituted government regulations stipulating that the amount paid to terrorists’ families, would be on the sliding scale, with the highest payments going to those who proved the most brutal in murdering Jews? For the last few years, the Palestinian Authority led by Abbas paid over 1 billion dollars to imprisoned terrorists and dead terrorists’ families.

Why did Trump express confidence in the chances of an Israeli Palestinian peace agreement to Abbas, who sponsored a new 2016-17 Palestinian school curriculum, which includes textbooks for children in grades 1-4, teaching them to be suicide bombers, demonizing the Jews as rodents and monkeys, denying the existence of the Jewish state, rejecting peace, and focusing on the return of all Palestinians to an exclusively Palestinian state, without Israel?

For those with short memories, Abbas, like Arafat, was a founding member of Fatah, the PLO’s main faction since 1969. While Arafat was the face of the PLO, Abbas was always number two to Arafat and the main financier of numerous terrorist attacks which have maimed and killed thousands of Israeli civilians as well as 54 Americans in airplane hijackings, school massacres, suicide and bus bombings, and more.

In the autobiography of former PLO official Muhammad Daoud Oddeh, published in France in 1999, he wrote that the plan to murder the Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics in 1972 was concocted in Rome at a meeting he held with senior PLO officials, including Mahmoud Abbas, who, he said, was responsible for securing the funding for the massacre.

Since then, most of the PLO terrorists involved in the Munich attack have been executed by Israeli Mossad agents. But Mahmoud Abbas has not been held accountable.

The time has arrived for Mahmoud Abbas not to be invited by any U.S. president or treated as a legitimate, civilized leader but to be held responsible by the United States for his involvement in the Munich Olympic Massacre and his long history of sponsoring anti-American and anti-Israeli terror and inciting and indoctrinating his own people including children to hatred and martyrdom.

For many years, previous U.S. governments, the West as a whole, and the media has chosen to play a preposterous game of presenting Abbas as the new, credible, and moderate Palestinian leader with whom Israel and the West could trust to at last bring peace through negotiations.

It seems that President Trump has convinced himself to join this game by attempting to broker an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal to prove himself as the ultimate deal maker. But President Trump should be aware that, in reality, Abbas has walked away from previous peace deals offered by different Israeli governments under the sponsorship of different American presidents.

Abbas was second in command to Arafat, when the Palestinian Authority (PA) rejected Israeli Prime Minister Barak’s offer of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as a capital in the year 2000 and through the subsequent five years of Arafat’s war of terror against Israel which killed over 1000 Israelis from 2000 to 2005. After the death of Arafat in 2004, Abbas became the chairman of the Fatah branch and the PLO and as president of the Palestinian Authority he again rejected another offer of peace made this time by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in 2008. In the spring of 2014, after nine months of negotiations and an Israeli settlement freeze, Abbas refused again to respond to a proposed framework for a peace agreement offered by President Obama, which granted the Palestinians a state based on the 1967 borders. and chose instead to form a unity government with the terrorist group Hamas, which two months later coordinated the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teenagers and instigated another war in Gaza with Israel.

As a great negotiator, President Trump should have been aware that appeasing and honoring Abbas while pressuring Israel, will simply encourage him to further bad behavior. Just two week ago, Mahmoud Abbas, among many other actions encouraging terrorism, failed to condemn the murder of a 21-year-old British theology student in Jerusalem by a Palestinian terrorist on Good Friday and rewarded the terrorist with a salary of more than 1000 dollars a month.

As the most politically incorrect president in American history, I had hoped that Trump, after meeting Abbas and hours of self-reflection, would admit that Abbas has been and still is the face of evil. However, in reality, a few hours after the meeting, Trump tweeted “It was honor to host President Mahmoud Abbas at the House White, today. Hopefully, something terrific could come out it between the Palestinians and Israel.”

  1. @ Sebastien Zorn:
I wonder if Lidell-Hart is an influence as well:

“How Does Liddell Hart Fit the Literature?

The place for Strategy among the great analyses of war and peace is a hotly debated one. In many ways, Liddell Hart was merely relearning and applying the indirect approach to new technologies. In the opening pages of his book, Liddell Hart quotes Sun Tzu at length and the many ways that this ancient strategist had already advocated for the indirect approach (Liddell Hart 1967, 11 – 12). Writers ranging from Belisarius and Shakespeare to Moltke and even Clausewitz are also cited as having had glimpses of Liddell Hart’s strategic vision centuries earlier (Liddell Hart 1967, 12). In this broadest sense then, Liddell Hart was advancing a well-established position, one rooted in surprise and maneuver that aimed to achieve some larger goal that the simple destruction of an enemy’s forces.

Yet, Strategy was not just a rehashing of old ideas. Michael Howard, the well-known British military historian, has argued that Strategy is “perhaps the most original contribution to strategic thinking since Jomini and Clausewitz” (Howard 1966, 59).”

I stumbled on to this page from googling for quotes from Bhagavad Ghita relevant to strategy (not easy to find)

    from same site:
    http://www.classicsofstrategy.com/2016/01/bhagavad-gita-3rd-century-bc-3rd-century-ad.html

My late erstwhile leftist mentor, who Bannon reminded me of, was always mentioning Lidell-Hart.

I recall having read one of his books long ago, “France 1940-1955” which talks about the “Affair of the Pigeons” and the implosion of the French Communist Party, as few books do or did, anyway. According to this article, he was the military editor for the Encyclopedia Britannica.

You may be right. To whit:

“The Art of War as a Guide to Understanding the Trump Administration”
    http://bigthink.com/robby-berman/presidential-advisor-steve-bannon-loves-the-art-of-war

from a hostile left-wing source that makes some bogus assertions but still a relevant source for the point I am making.

Article also mentions Bhagavad Ghita as an important strategic guide for the administration. Have to look into that.

    The Art of War

    By Sun Tzu

    http://classics.mit.edu/Tzu/artwar.html

    Translated by Lionel Giles

    I. Laying Plans

    18. All warfare is based on deception.

    III. Attack by Stratagem

    3. Thus the highest form of generalship is to balk the enemy’s plans; the next best is to prevent the junction of the enemy’s forces; the next in order is to attack the enemy’s army in the field; and the worst policy of all is to besiege walled cities.

    IV. Tactical Dispositions

    2. To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.

    VI. Weak Points and Strong

    23. Rouse him, and learn the principle of his activity or inactivity. Force him to reveal himself, so as to find out his vulnerable spots.

    VII. Maneuvering

    24. Gongs and drums, banners and flags, are means whereby the ears and eyes of the host may be focused on one particular point.

    26. Peace proposals unaccompanied by a sworn covenant indicate a plot.

    V. Energy

    21. The clever combatant looks to the effect of combined energy, and does not require too much from individuals. Hence his ability to pick out the right men and utilize combined energy.

    22. When he utilizes combined energy, his fighting men become as it were like unto rolling logs or stones. For it is the nature of a log or stone to remain motionless on level ground, and to move when on a slope; if four-cornered, to come to a standstill, but if round-shaped, to go rolling down.

    23. Thus the energy developed by good fighting men is as the momentum of a round stone rolled down a mountain thousands of feet in height. So much on the subject of energy.

    XIII. The Use of Spies

    12. Having doomed spies, doing certain things openly for purposes of deception, and allowing our spies to know of them and report them to the enemy.

  3. The response to Westerners to all this mess is on a Youtube
video. Answering to the leader of the German Government
then, who was pressuring Menahem Begin to give a State
to the Palestinians this on the heart of Israel, Begin said
the obvious, that it would usher the destruction of Israel.
Please, take the time to search for the video.
Honour, reallly? Abbas is no different than the Camp
Commander of Treblinka who everyday went to work
to murder our innocent brothers and sisters.
We just marked Holocaust Memorial Day. This year
I said prayers fo a 9 year old Jewish child, just like the
1.5 Million Jewish children murdered by the Germans!
No, there won’t be any Palestinian State.

He has friends in both places which bodes well for a negotiator:
    from a hostile left-wing site:
“That’s why it’s unsurprising that when the reporter asked Trump about his Muslim pals he didn’t talk about his “good friend” (Trump’s words) Hussain Sajwani, whom he went into business with in 2014 in Dubai. Together the two developed a massive 42 million-square-foot project that includes 104 villas and mansions that begin at more than $1 million U.S. dollars and climb to over $10 million a pop. The development’s centerpiece is the golf course that will bear Trump’s name as well the exclusive “Trump private mansions.”

‘Also unsurprising is that Trump didn’t mention the Muslims who he’s working with to develop hotels in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Plus there are his Muslim business partners in Turkey who are involved in his “Trump Towers” in Istanbul. And let’s not forget the Muslims involved in his project in Indonesia, the nation with the world’s largest Muslim population, who are developing “Trump International Hotel & Tower Bali.” ”

“The Republican Party in Israel opened the first office of an American political party in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area Wednesday night.

Part of a broader effort to court voters with dual Israeli-American citizenship, over the past two weeks the Trump campaign has expanded its operation in Israel, micro-targeting registered voters living in Israel who are eligible to vote in swing states like Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Virginia…”

  7. @ Birdalone:

Wow, if you truly believe that you are living in an alternate universe of your own making.
Trump, Kitchner, et al are not the friends of Israel as commonly perceived……albeit anything was going to be better than the previous Islamist in the WH.

  8. All part of TeamTrump’s plan to expose Abbas, to counter all the myths to delegitimize Israel that have become received wisdom past eight years.

  9. “O.F.: Mrs. Meir, so far we’ve been talking about agreements, negotiations, treaties. But since the 1967 cease-fire, the war in the Middle East has taken on a new face: the face of terror, of terrorism. What do you think of this war and the men who are conducting it? Of Arafat, for instance, of Habash, of the Black September leaders?

G.M.: I simply think they’re not men. I don’t even consider them human beings, and the worst thing you can say of a man is that he’s not a human being. It’s like saying he’s an animal, isn’t it? But how can you call what they’re doing “a war”? Don’t you remember what Habash said when he he had a bus full of Israeli children blown up? “It’s best to kill the Israelis while they’re still children.” Come on, what they’re doing isn’t a war. It’s not even a revolutionary movement because a movement that only wants to kill can’t be called revolutionary.

Look, at the beginning of the century in Russia, in the revolutionary movement that rose up to overthrow the czar, there was one party that considered terror the only means of struggle. One day a man from this party was sent with a bomb to a street corner where the carriage of one of the czar’s high officials was supposed to pass. The carriage went by at the expected time. But the official was not alone, he was accompanied by his wife and children. So what did this true revolutionary do? He didn’t throw the bomb. He let it go off in his hand and was blown to pieces. Look, we too had our terrorist groups during the War of Independence: the Stern, the Irgun. And I was opposed to them. I was always opposed to them. But neither of them ever covered itself with such infamy as the Arabs have done with us. Neither of them ever put bombs in supermarkets or dynamite in school buses. Neither of them ever provoked tragedies like Munich or Lod airport.”
