Who gave the order to detain Ron Lauder? – Arutz Sheva

‘Meshilut’ movement sends letter demanding to know why non-criminal suspect Ron Lauder detained, says faux pas infringes on civil liberties.

Last Friday American Jewish businessman Ron Lauder was detained at Ben Gurion airport, immediately upon his arrival. Mr. Lauder had traveled to Israel in order to attend the funeral of former Israeli President Shimon Peres.

“Meshilut,” the Movement for Governability and Democracy, has denounced the detention of Mr. Lauder, claiming that this was done unlawfully. Meshilut subsequently appealed by letter to Minister of Justice Ayelet Shaked, Chief Legal Advisor Mandelblit and Police Chief Alshich, demanding to know who gave order to detain Mr. Lauder, disregarding the fact that he is not a criminal suspect.

“It is a good thing that law enforcement officials strive to discover the truth and investigate cases in which Prime Minister Netanyahu is allegedly involved,” states the letter. “However, it is unacceptable that the mere fact that a person is among the ‘inner circle of the Prime Minister’ makes him fair game and allows any number of heavy-handed measures to be taken against him.

“If investigators wish to collect a statement from a witness they are welcome to respectfully coordinate a meeting with the relevant party. Such an unceremonious detention is inappropriate.”

The letter goes on to state that, “Such behavior can render a disservice to the reputation of the State of Israel and its law enforcement officials among Jews of the Diaspora.”

Yehuda Amrani, Meshilut director of operations concludes that, “This is a serious faux pas, which was made by law enforcement officials and which infringes upon civil liberties and due process. We would like to know who gave the order to detain Mr. Lauder and what measures have been taken against following his mistake in judgment.”

The Left controls the Criminal Justice System in Israel and uses allegations of corruption as a political weapon against the National Camp. It’s outrageous that Jews should have more freedom in the United States, Canada and Australia (I think that about covers it) than in Israel.

  2. This is an email I sent out about Joe Pasternak to my circle a while back:

People act as though Israel should be held to an impossibly high standard and the Muslims to none at all because Israel is a “first world country” and Muslims are “third world, until World War One, the Muslims ruled and Jews were abused, impoverished second-class citizens, for the most part. Ah, you say, but Israel was mostly founded by “European” Jews, you say (even if most of the population consists of Jewish refugees from “Muslim countries” where the Jews lived from before the Muslim conquests. So, they have “White-Skin Privilege” and that’s why Israel is a developed democracy, in contrast to the Palestinian Authority (and indirectly, Hamas) which is the largest recipient of humanitarian aid in the world, and the only “people” who are labeled refugees, generation after generation, in perpetuity, even if they are citizens of another country, even those who weren’t refugees to begin with, but local residents who knew a good thing when they saw it.

This is an excerpt from the autobiography of a European Jew who produced many of Hollywood’s most beloved Musical pictures during it’s golden age. This should should allegations of European “privilege” for Jews to rest, especially since he’s not trying to prove anything, as this is aeons before the “political correctness” that should be abolished because it excludes us from protection. I am typing this. It can be read at https://archive.org where it has been scanned in. It is an out-of-print public domain book. If you hate ebooks, I suppose an inexpensive copy can be ordered online from Amazon, A libris or some other site. Just google the title and “ebook.”

    “2. ‘Listen To The Music’

‘In our town the postman was easily the most popular man. Children chased after him as he made his rounds. People smiled at him when he passed, as if they hoped that he would reward them with a letter. I alone grew to dread his comings and goings. He reached our home about nin o’clock in the morning. I always tried to arrange it so I would not be there when he came.

I had nothing against the man. It was my Uncle Geza who was the real cause of it all. Uncle Geza had gone to America a few years before, in 1907 to be exact. He had hardly settled down in the new world before his letters began to be filled with what we knew to be the most obvious tall tales, not to say downright lies. Uncle Geza was that kind anyway. In our family he was considered something of a sporting character. He lived in Budapest whereas we lived in a little town in Transylvania. My mother – Uncle Geza’s sister – was a strict woman; we children overheard fascinating rumors about Uncle Geza and the many girls who had fallen in love with him, of how he gambled and spent his evenings listening to gypsy music in dimly lit cafes. This was before he went to America, of course.

Naturally none of us believed the fantastic stories he sent back. He wrote that it was nothing for every family to have a bathtub of its own. He wrote that the police didn’t bother anyone unless he caused trouble. Uncle Geza said if someone didn’t like his job, he could just leave it. In the six years he’s been in America, he’s changed his job three times. Once he’d told the owner of the factory that he wished a plague would overtake him, and there was nothing the owner could do about it. He said he had moved from New York to Philadelphia without asking anyone’s permission and that he did not even have to report to the police. It was obvious that he regarded us all as ignorant cousins prepared to believe anything…”

“Easy The Hard Way” by Joe Pasternak [as told to David Chandler] illustrated. G.P. Putnam’s Son’s New York. 1956.

[Now, that’s genuinely “oppressed without whining and victimizing others.” And this is what he had to show for it and what he contributed despite all that. bl]

    Early life[edit]
Born to a Jewish family in Szilágysomlyó, Austria-Hungary (now ?imleu Silvaniei, S?laj County, Romania), Pasternak was a successful film producer in Germany and Austria by the time he was 28 years old. He worked for Universal Pictures in Europe, where he made German-language musicals for the international market. He hit upon a successful formula, building light musical comedies around an adolescent soprano (Franciska Gaal).
Following the establishment of the Nazi regime, Pasternak emigrated to the United States.
    In the United States[edit]

Pasternak (right) receiving his star onHollywood Boulevard from Johnny Grant withGene Kelly on the left on July 29, 1991.
At Universal’s Hollywood studio in 1936. Pasternak cast 14-year-old Canadian singer Deanna Durbin in Three Smart Girls (1936). The film became a huge hit and reputedly saved Universal from bankruptcy. Pasternak produced a string of Durbin musicals, and soon discovered another talented soprano, Gloria Jean. who began her own series in 1939. Pasternak proved to be a real asset for the studio, generating a number of popular films, including Destry Rides Again (1939) and Seven Sinners (1940).
In 1941 he moved to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, where he sat on the executive committee[1] and was regarded one of the three most important persons in the company, alongside Louis B. Mayer and Vice President Sam Katz.[2] At MGM he continued to produce operetta films, featuring the rich singing voices of Kathryn Grayson and Jane Powell, although his biggest MGM success came withThe Great Caruso (1951), a vehicle for Mario Lanza.
In the mid 1950s, Pasternak and Sam Katz set up the independent production company Euterpe,[3] which, until Pasternak’s retirement in 1968, produced 16 films distributed by MGM; among them musicals with Elvis Presley, Doris Day and Connie Francis.[4][5][6]
His career as a film producer spanned 40 years and earned him two Oscar nominations and three Golden Globe Award nominations. He retired in 1968, having produced more than ninety feature-length films as well as three Academy Award shows.
Pasternak is the father of Michael Joseph Pasternak, the radio disk jockey known as Emperor Rosko; Jeff Pasternak, a playwright and songwriter; and Peter Pasternak, a music industry professional.
    Death and tribute[edit]
Joe Pasternak died in Beverly Hills, California from complications arising from Parkinson’s disease six days shy of his 90th birthday. He is interred in the Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery in Culver City, California. I read that Leon Uris wrote Exodus in disgust at the self-loathing nonsense that passed for Jewish literature. Here, Here. Be PROUD. Or go away quietly.

I’m no longer a Leninist but he was a witty guy. This applies:

“… And now some among us begin to cry out: Let us go into the marsh! And when we begin to shame them, they retort: What backward people you are! Are you not ashamed to deny us the liberty to invite you to take a better road! Oh, yes, gentlemen! You are free not only to invite us, but to go yourselves wherever you will, even into the marsh. In fact, we think that the marsh is your proper place, and we are prepared to render you every assistance to get there. Only let go of our hands, don’t clutch at us and don’t besmirch the grand word freedom, for we too are “free” to go where we please, free to fight not only against the marsh, but also against those who are turning towards the marsh! ”

Lenin, What Is To Be Done?, “Dogmatism And ‘Freedom of Criticism’” (1901)
    https://www.marxists.org/archive/lenin/quotes.htm

Our greatest strength is our greatest weakness. Self-criticism. It’s a two-edged sword and must be wielded carefully. It’s because the Tanakh is so self-critical that Israel was born and remains a democracy. It’s also the cause of a lot of anti-semitism and self-hatred.

But, as my late sister discovered, working behind the counter of a bakery, if you smile a lot when you don’t mean it, after a while you really do start to feel better. The tail does wag the dog. Maybe that’s a reason why Judaism values actions more than beliefs.

(*)Another answer I sometimes give when people ask me my religion. I say, I’m a filial son. My mother believes in reincarnation and my father believed in nothing. So, some days I believe in reincarnation and other days I believe in nothing.

Sometimes, when people ask me my religion, I say, “I am a strict, orthodox devout contrarian from a long line of devout, orthodox contrarians — none of whom got along with their fathers either.

My father was a Hungarian Jewish Holocaust survivor, labor camp escapee, and Jewish resistance fighter who escaped Communist Hungary along with his first cousin who survived Auschwitz and her new husband, also a labor camp escapee. They both saved many lives. My father’s cousin was Raoul Wallenberg’s switchboard operator. My father organized other young Jews posing as Nazis to survive to face off against the real Nazis and protect Jews from them during the Siege of Budapest. All of their relatives in Hungary were murdered (I was going to say the usual euphemism”they lost”. Really? Did they look under the bed?)

My mother’ s family on all sides were Litvaks (Lithuainian Jews who lived mostly in what is now Lithuania and Belarus) (two extended families of whom) formed a family organization to bring everybody over to America they could over the course of the entire 19th century because they saw the handwriting on the wall. It was all part of the Russian Empire and sometimes Poland. The borders kept changing and the Jews were segregated and needed permits to travel two feet.
Of those who remained, nearly all were murdered by Germans together with their Christian Neighbors on the spot.
Walter Matthau, a famous Litvak, used to give a different wise-ass answer every time somebody asked him his ethnicity.

It’s true what they say: “No good deed goes unpunished.”

“Before World War II, the Lithuanian Jewish population was some 160,000, about 7% of the total population. Vilnius (then Wilno in the Second Polish Republic) had a Jewish community of nearly 100,000, about 45% of the city’s total population.

But, hats off to Chiuni Sugihara, the “Japanese Schindler” (really Wallenberg) who saved five times as many Jews as Schindler but isn’t as well known. Movies rule, don’t you know?
Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara’s actions saved five times as many people as Oskar Schindler, made famous in the film “Schindler’s List.”

He was a Japanese Christian. So don’t be prejudiced when other Christians hold out their hand to us.

  8. I have a joke about that:

About the thousandth and one time that somebody asked me what I ate when I was growing up — often on a job, I am a free-lance classical musician — I finally grokked [from Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein, google it — popular term in the ’60s] to the fact that it was just another sneaky way of asking if I was Jewish. So, I came up with the following boiler plate answer:

I come from a typical assimilated Central and Eastern European Jewish family from the Upper West Side so I grew up eating Chinese and Indian. I said this to a Puerto Rican friend of mine, who said, “We ate Puerto Rican food at home when I was little and then as soon as I was old enough to have a little pocket money, my home away from home became McDonalds.
And then, I remembered, “yeah, me, too. As soon as I was old enough to have a little pocket money, typical American kid, my home from home became McDonalds, too!”
But, you know, when you get older, you become more traditional, more conservative. So, I’ve gone back to eating Chinese and Indian.

Then again, here’s another answer I like to give when people ask me my heritage. I’m a Thousand-Islander. Yup, I’m one of the Thousand Island people because you are what you eat. Except, of course in those parts of the world where a cursory glance at the headlines would inform you that you are who you eat.
Just kidding, of course. “it’s Whom!” Grammars important, you know. I asked her just this morning. Or if I would have if she hadn’t been murdered at Auschwitz, along with my all of my paternal grand-parents, great-grand-parents and assorted great uncles and aunts, cousins, totalling about 20 people.

Sometimes, when people ask me my religion, I say, “I am a strict, orthodox devout contrarian from a long line of devout, orthodox contrarians — none of whom got along with their fathers either.
Now, that I’m on a roll, this one offends absolutely everybody
    This one offends absolutely:
Traditional Passover Haggadah: In every generation, they rise up to destroy us.

American Jewish parody: They tried to kill us. They failed. Let’s eat.

My version: Let’s never forget Ann Frank’s Mom’s putative (assumed, made up) words: “SS mein kindt.”

More informative: I come from an ultra-liberal family, and I believed all of the lies about Israel being an Apartheid state in the ’80s before I discovered Palestinian Media Watch http://www.pmw.org and heard what the paleo-arabs were really saying to each other in arabic and witnessed the Oslo war — (massacre) — when they were offered nearly everything they said they wanted. I’m a second thoughter, like David Horowitz. And I studied the history of propaganda at City College. Over 40 courses in History. Though I didn’t go on to become a Professor because I saw the handwriting on the wall. My politics had changed, and there was no room for a non-leftist. Leonard Jeffried was there, when I was there and I watched the left whitewash the Crown Heights pogrom as a popular uprising against racist oppression. So, I decided to fiddle while rome burns. Anybody Got a problem with it?

    P.S.
I have relatives in Judea and Samaria who I connected with when my sister died and my mother’s first cousin — who made aliya during the 6 day war and worked on engineering robot planes — came all the way from Israel when my sister died in a fire. They are living overcrowded or unable to live close to each other because Jews aren’t able to get a permit in the Jewish Homeland! Ha Ha Ha! not.

Here are some distant relatives on my mother’s side, I didn’t necessarily know personally, I’m rather proud of:

  10. As Holocaust survivors leave us, we can be thankful that their testimony has been recorded in hours of interviews and in memoirs. But in 1953, one of the first primary sources the American public digested was not in the pages of Night, but on prime-time television: It was the story of 32-year-old Hanna Bloch-Kohner, the first non-celebrity to appear on Ralph Edwards’s This Is Your Life, the reality series that aired on NBC radio and television from 1948 to 1961.

…Bloch-Kohner, born in Czechoslovakia, was arrested in 1943 and eventually sent to Auschwitz. Edwards leaves out a grisly detail she would reveal in later interviews: Upon her deportation, she was pregnant, and to survive, had a secret abortion. She listens as he describes her separation from her brother Gottfried – who later steps from behind the curtain – and the death of her first husband in the gas chambers.

  11. Clarification: Here is the source for the study that shows that Isis attracts more educated people not the poor.
    http://www.imra.org.il/story.php3?id=71556

The article about the Czech sports team named “Cyklon B”, said that the adults concerned needed to be educated. It was a misunderstanding, don’t you know? This is what I said when I initially forwarded the article about the children’s sports team named after the poison gas with which our people were murdered: “Ignorance? No. Euro-trash liberals are the grand-children of the monsters who murdered 6 million Jews. When they criticize Israel they are just trying to help the Muslim Nazis finish the job . This is the true face of the U.N, the E.U. and the Obama/Clinton crowd over here. “

  12. Ignorance my eye. Time to close the doors. I don’t want these people here:

The data shows clearly, the report said, that “poverty is not a driver of
    radicalization into violent extremism.”

  13. Multiculturalism may successfully destroy Europe!!!
When we think about, the birth of the USA and Israel were in reaction to the European/USSR madness and visceral antisemitism.
When people refuse to define and respect a code of ethics, what is there to defend, Materialism???
