The Tables Just Turned
Remember the relief of the liberal media when the Khan-troversy and post-Democratic National Convention bounce had put Hillary Clinton significantly ahead of Donald Trump for the first time in quite a while, at least as far as poll numbers were concerned?
Yeah, about that — it seems the celebration was premature, liberals. The latest poll from Reuters/Ipsos finds that Hillary’s lead has dropped to within the margin of error over Republican nominee Donald J. Trump.
The poll, released on Friday and conducted between July 31 and Aug. 4 , found Clinton with 42 percent of the vote compared to Trump’s 39 percent among likely voters. However, the margin of error was 3 percent, meaning that her lead was statistically insignificant.
Among voters already registered, Clinton’s lead was five points. However, this was down from eight points in the same poll on Monday.
What’s spurred the change? There’s plenty of reasons you could guess, I suppose. The media’s manufactured controversy over Gold Star father Khizr Khan has reached the point of diminishing returns, no matter how much MSNBC wants to pump it up. There’s also the Iran ransom story, which has cast yet more doubt on Clinton/Obama foreign policy objectives.
And once the smoke cleared from the Khan story, Trump has had a pretty good week, at least by the standards of the mainstream media. He announced his economic team, bulked up his campaign in the battleground state of Ohio and even managed to put aside his contempt for Paul Ryan and endorse him. (That one’s not so keen in my book, but the RINOs love it, so…)
But perhaps the greatest motive factor in the polls swinging back to where they were is that Hillary Clinton is still Hillary Clinton.
It’s hard to sell such a poxed candidate, to puff America up with enough fear over a Trump presidency that Clinton seems like a good choice. Let’s face it: the Clinton family has been involved in malevolent backstabbing for so long that Shakespeare’s still paying them royalties for inspiring the story to “Macbeth.”
No matter how far ahead a poll shows Hillary Clinton, America will always be reminded that, yes, she’s still trying in vain to wash the blood off her hands and only pretends to change when it’s needed. Now that the conventions are over, you can expect those numbers to fall further.
Considering the fact that a number of individuals participating in these polls may NOT state the truth about their opinion, how can anyone make any valid scientific prediction!
The majority of liberal Jews won’t budge from the left Bank! IL is not one of their main concerns.
Ted, you have the means to disseminate this to many people. Beyond Israpundit.
I hope Bernard, Klein and all other participants refresh their memories by reading this article from the Jewish Voice.
