  1. I have been strongly impressed by very few political speeches in my long life.

One of them was a televised long speech by Ronald Reagan, huge numbers of Americans viewed on the Monday evening before the November 1980 presidential election. That address was televised in black and white, with Reagan’s face half in light and half in shadow. It was one of the most dramatic presentations I had ever witnessed. And I have no doubt that speech aided Reagan in defeating the incumbent president, James Earl Carter.

This afternoon I watched the entire hour and forty minutes of Donald J Trump’s acceptance speech of the Republican Party’s nomination of him as their candidate — and mine and my wife’s — for the presidency of the United States of America. It was singularly forceful, focused, well planned, well delivered, and well received major addresses I have ever witnessed or viewed.

I have no doubts whatsoever about the outcome of this year’s election and the long-overdue revitalization of this country.
