49% of Israelis Willing to Put Up Wall, Separate from Palestinians

T. Belman.  61% of Israelis disagree with this statement, “The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is perhaps not ideal but can continue for many years without posing a threat to Israel’s security and existence.” Therefore the pressure is building to change the status quo in favour of separation, a la Herzog, or annexation in whole or in part.

Had the questionnaire reminded Israel of the threat of abandoning the hills of Samaria, the result would have shown even more support for annexation.

Latest Peace Index examines attitudes toward Israeli policies in the West Bank; survey shows Israelis divided on whether time has come to annex land captured in 1967.

Israel Democracy Institute  February 2, 2016

  • Separating from the Palestinians: Earlier this month, opposition leader Isaac Herzog recommended separating Israelis from Palestinians, including the construction of an electrified wall separating the two communities in East Jerusalem. Some 49% favor such a policy while 44% are opposed. Likud (78%) and Yisrael Beiteinu (64%) voters are most in favor of such a plan; Meretz voters (75%) are most opposed. Only 6% of Arab Israelis support the plan.
  • Annexing the West Bank: When asked whether the time has come for Israel to formally annex all territories conquered during the 1967 Six-Day War, 45% of Jewish Israeli responded that Israel should. The same number (45%) opposed such action.
  • Maintaining the Status Quo: A considerable majority of the Jewish public (61%) disagree with the statement that, “The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is perhaps not ideal but can continue for many years without posing a threat to Israel’s security and existence.”

The majority of Israeli Jews (52.8%) say Israel applies the law equally toward Jews and Palestinians living in the West Bank, contrary to a statement made last month by U.S. Ambassador Dan Shapiro. However, 50.1% of respondents of the latest Israel Democracy Index-Tel Aviv University Peace Index survey thought Israel would be justified in unequal application of the law toward Jews and Palestinians in the territories.

This month’s survey—conducted Jan. 26- 28 survey with a poll of 600 Israelis –focused on Israeli-Palestinian relations and on Israel’s relationship with the United States and the rest of the international community.

When asked whether or not the U.S. “has a right to criticize Israel on issues” such as security procedures in the West Bank, the majority of the Jewish public (58%) says no. Further, 74% of Jewish Israelis and 70% of Arab Israelis report that Israel is unlikely to change its policies regardless of US criticism.

82% of the Jewish Israeli public are either sure (54%) or think (28%) that the international community heeds Israel’s interests less than those of the Palestinians. In contrast, 47% of Arab Israelis are sure or think that the international community cares less about Israel’s interests.

PROSPECTS FOR PEACE

Despite the rise of terror in recent months, Israelis are not opposed to peace talks. When asked whether or not they support peace negotiations, 56.9% of Jewish Israelis and 86.7% of Arab Israelis say they are in favor of talks.

Moreover, a majority (67%) of Israeli Jews support a meeting between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Peace Index is a project of the Evens Program for Mediation and Conflict Resolution at Tel Aviv University and the Guttman Center for Public Opinion and Policy Research of the Israel Democracy Institute. This month’s survey was conducted by telephone on January 26-28, 2016, by the Midgam Research Institute. The survey included 600 respondents, who constitute a representative national sample of the entire adult population of Israel aged 18 and over. The maximum measurement error for the entire sample is ±4.1% at a confidence level of 95%. Statistical processing was done by Ms. Yasmin Alkalay.

  1. Each of these legislative efforts would therefore actually assist the efforts of the Global BDS Movement and other opponents of a two-state solution in erasing the distinction between Israel and the territories it controls. If passed, they would constitute the global BDS movement’s first and only victories in the U.S. Congress.

The United States’ unbreakable commitment to Israel’s long-term security, democracy and Jewish character therefore requires that it maintain and enforce the critical distinction between Israel proper and the territory over the Green Line that Israel occupies. Congress and the entire pro-Israel community should recognize the significance of the Green Line, rather than work against Israel’s interests to erase it.

Williams is vice president of Government Affairs at J Street, where Blank is a Government Affairs
    http://thehill.com/blogs/congress-blog/foreign-policy/268118-accurately-labeling-west-bank-products-is-the-law

this despicable and jew murdering narrative originates with the Israel left. Most Jews and americans would not know who is right because if Israeli Jews can be in such disagreement then it cannot be an important life or death issue to israel.

  2. Bear Klein Said:

hopefully the American Public will the help situation by picking a truly PRO Israel President!

dont you get it? every american candidate is pro israel… but Israeli leftists like Livni and Herzog tell Jstreet that pro Israel means tough love. How can american jews or non jewish americans sort out this dangerous and murderous situation that originates in Israel?
    here is how that works:

the faux-pro-Israel organization, J Street, has sent out an hysterical email and placed ominous op-eds calling on people to attack the proposed legislation.
    http://unitycoalitionforisrael.org/?p=16937

You can be sure that all of Jstreets arguments pretend to be pro Israel just like the “zionist camp” that informs them pretends to be pro zionist as they rush to give zion to muslims to build homes, with BB helping the euros do it.

The United States–like J Street–vigorously opposes the global BDS movement against Israel, among other reasons because the movement undermines the two-state solution and deliberately tries to erase the line between Israel and the territories it has controlled since 1967.

Yet resolutions introduced in the House and Senate in response to the EC interpretative notice–like the Global BDS Movement itself–also blur the distinction between Israel and the territory over the Green Line. They equate Israel and “Israeli-controlled territory” and incorrectly refer to products made in Israeli settlements as “Israeli products.”
    http://thehill.com/blogs/congress-blog/foreign-policy/268118-accurately-labeling-west-bank-products-is-the-law

you see…. these Jstreet faux jews get their stories from the Israeli left, they work together to harm Israel. The lies begin in Israel and BB facilitates these dangerous lies which murder Jews and causing global anti semitism. Write to BB ask him to say the words, it looks like he agrees with the defamers because he never says the words while facilitating euro illegal building of muslim homes in YS

I wonder if BB does not say those words and repeat them daily because those words are powerful and might wake up Israeli Jews to the truth?

  3. Bear Klein Said:

I think Israel as Sherman says needs to make a major push to assert her rights and explain it to the world.

Before physically asserting those rights and before explaining to the world…. just have BB SAY the words with his mouth.
“JEWISH SETTLEMENT IN YS IS LEGAL AND LEGITIMATE”
he should shout these words first to every Israeli because it appears that Israeli Jews do not know this fact which he keeps hiding from them… say the words BB, no need to wait because waiting will kill more Jews.

  4. Bear Klein Said:

This will not happen until Obama is bye bye and hopefully the American Public will the help situation by picking a truly PRO Israel President!

dont expect the americans to say or do what Israelis cannot say or do. You cannot wait for americans to figure out what Israelis want from confusing Israeli behavior. The Israeli left gives Jstreet the ammo to destroy israel. If Jewish americans see such confusion and disagreement when it comes to the existential issues they are unable to see who is right.

Why dont you write BB and ask him to just say those few words every day. He doesnt have to do anything… just say the damn words, …. he wont melt if he tells the truth. You make it sound like saying a few words of truth about the Jews is something to be avoided by the Jewish PM of Israel. Looks like you bought into the BS. Every Israeli politician, right or left, should say those words.. if not more jews will die and they will be responsible for those deaths which emanate from allowing lies to be repeated without rebuttal.

  5. Bernard Ross I also at some point would like the Prime Minister of Israel to announce that with his Coalition standing behind him.

I think Israel as Sherman says needs to make a major push to assert her rights and explain it to the world.

This will not happen until Obama is bye bye and hopefully the American Public will the help situation by picking a truly PRO Israel President!

  6. Hotovely: IDF, Shin Bet wrong to say Palestinian terror caused by despair

Hotovely was asked by UpFront host Mehdi Hasan to respond to a November report from Shin Bet, Israel’s domestic security agency, which said that Palestinians were carrying out attacks to “escape from a bleak reality which they perceive as unchangeable” and to the head of Israeli military intelligence’s recent claim that some Palestinians have carried out attacks because they “felt they had nothing to lose.”
    http://www.jpost.com/Arab-Israeli-Conflict/Hotovely-IDF-Shin-Bet-wrong-to-say-Palestinian-terror-caused-by-despair-444004

so when the shin bet are not torturing settlers they are issuing bogus reports…. but on whose instructions, who do they work for, who authorized this ludicrous statement?

and the head of military intelligence talks about their feelings of having nothing to lose…. who does he work for?

this was likely said in order to avoid any crackdown on the terrorists being demanded, making it appear like individuals who are in despair rather than terrorists instructed at the mukata to give some tough love. Pathetic.

  7. Bear Klein Said:

JEWISH SETTLEMENT IN YS IS LEGAL AND LEGITIMATE!
Ross said every Jew and Israeli should say this and I concur 100%.

So does the official Israeli government position now finally!!

Its nice that Hotovely did that but notice that BB has NEVER uttered those words…. please ask him to say the magic words…..why wont he say them?
every time there is a diplomatic meeting with foreign liars, it needs saying… at the UN… .LOUD AND CLEAR….. please notice how quietly and unassuming these “official documents” are… but euro leaders loudly proclaim while they build in YS with BB’s nod and wink, that Jewish settlement is illegal.
come on Bear… get real. These are the usual tokens that Bb issues when faced with his facts… but notice he never says it…please ask him to say it next time you see him.

  8. @ bernard ross:

JEWISH SETTLEMENT IN YS IS LEGAL AND LEGITIMATE!

Ross said every Jew and Israeli should say this and I concur 100%.

So does the official Israeli government position now finally!!

The Foreign Ministry plans to distribute an official document which, for the first time, will present a legally-backed statement that Israeli communities beyond the Green Line are perfectly legal, and are not contradictory to international law, Arutz Sheva learned on Thursday.

The document, which is a legal opinion which will be distributed to all Israeli embassies around the world and be handed over to world leaders, states among other things that “attempts to present Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) as illegal and colonial ignore the complexity of the issue, the history of the country and the unique legal circumstances of the case.”

It says further that Israel has “valid property claims to Judea and Samaria”, due to the fact that the area “does not belong to any lawful sovereignty” and the fact that the area was never under the legitimate sovereignty of any state and was conquered as part of a “defensive war.” The document also claims that the allegations of colonialism are invalid due to “the Jewish connection of thousands of years to the area.”

The legal opinion also states that “the bilateral agreements between Israel and the Palestinians specifically state that settlements fall under exclusive Israeli authority until the materialization of peace negotiations into results, and do not prohibit settlement activity.

  9. every Israeli and Jew should be able to say these words whatever their political position:
JEWISH SETTLEMENT IN YS IS LEGAL AND LEGITIMATE!
Even the left can say those words and then add that they are willing to give half of israel away for their peace fantasy.
The words need saying and repeating ad infinitum because all the current global anti semitism and anti Israelism is related to NOT saying those words, something that BB always fails to do.

  10. Bear Klein Said:

How would I put it nicely you are very naive as to how the world of a small country functions in relation to its only ally (even if highly limited).

actually I lived in smaller countries closely tied with the US but who were able to utter words… in fact, I have NEVER seen a nation even under heavy pressure, even while capitulating, refrain from expressing their basic inalienable rights in words:
tell your idol to say these words, the truth will set him and Israel free:
JEWISH SETTLEMENT IN YS IS LEGAL AND LEGITIMATE!
dont worry, he wont be bombed for saying the words, he can even say them while at the same time giving away YS, no one will hurt him for saying those few words.

  11. Bear Klein Said:

Yeah Bibi was going to out Obama in public, sure!

yes, why not… didnt he carry on a public feud and pit congress against obama over Iran.
your quotes from Orens book simply reveals left wing beliefs of Obamas admin which exactly mirror the left wing Israeli beliefs that Israels left have been spreading for decades. This is nothing to do with foreign pressure… this is what Israelis wanted Obama to do… tough love… pressure Israel..BDS. Obama is respond positively to what leftist Israel jews have been begging american jews and obama for years
    THIS IS NOT FOREIGN PRESSURE
Instead it is an example of obama following the advice of left wing american jews who are following the advice of left wing Israeli Jews. DUHH?????????
    Oh, and regarding Oren:

Oren supported the disengagement from Gaza in 2005. He ran against Benjamin Netanyahu’s party in the recent Israeli elections. He spoke out against Netanyahu’s speech to Congress in March. And he once admired Barack Obama.

Imagine being so high up in gov circles, having access to information, movers and shakers… and yet having the typical poor judgement of leftists who always have to reassess their prior assessments after making poor judgments. Oren simply demonstrates that he is a fool who could not see the obvious. Dont worry, I saw the same in 1980 when I met Reagans caribbean Basin Inititiative group of private businessmen who gave me the most incredibly stupid assessment of what was going on in a caribbean location that I had lived in and done business for over 10 years. Being high up is no guarantee of good judgment, and now Oren shows the same. Apparently Oren also listens to peoples talk rather than their actions when he first assessed Obama.

  12. Bear Klein Said:

Facts I provide you can believe them or not your choice!

your facts do not relate to YS or Jerusalem… and facts do not need to be beleived… they are true or they are not facts. Beleifs have nothing to do with facts.. thats what you mix up… beleif with facts.
    Bear Klein Said:

Here in part what the speech said. Caving to Obama technically but in actuality putting Obama in checkmate on getting a Pal State on his watch.

so he agrees with obama and then stalls but his stalling while agreeing is exactly what makes the Jews look like land thieves and why the foreigners consider him a liar. If he were to say what we all accept without question they would all be shocked and say they were swindled by BB,…. what would he say that would cause that reaction:
JEWISH SETTLEMENT IN YS IS LEGAL AND LEGITIMATE
the pals can say it about themselves… but BB has re created the shtetl cowering Jew afraid to even talk. If BB said those words and followed it with an expose of the threats that prevent it then I could agree with you but his avoidance of those words appear to me to be targeted at manipulating folks into forgetting that Jews have any legal or legitimate claims aside from security. In that respect he has single handedly ended all demands to settle YS outside existing blocks. The only claims we now hear are about security.

  13. @ Bear Klein:

Yeah Bibi was going to out Obama in public, sure! How would I put it nicely you are very naive as to how the world of a small country functions in relation to its only ally (even if highly limited).

Something public- Michael Oren in his book

Some of the episodes, such as Obama’s “snub” of Netanyahu during a 2010 visit to the White House, are well-known. Others are not, such as an encounter between Oren and then-UN Ambassador Susan Rice in New York, in which she threatened to drop support for Israel at the UN if the Netanyahu government did not “freeze all settlement activity”:

“If you don’t appreciate the fact that we defend you night and day, tell us,” Susan fumed, practically rapping her forehead. “We have other important things to do

  14. we have a presidential election and everyone talks about who supports Israel. Every presidential candidate says they support Israel. The problem is… who is Israel and why should one candidate be chosen over another wrt Israel. I do not see the problem lying with american presidents or foreign jews. It matters not who we vote for wrt Israel because Israel votes itself down the drain. Why not vote for a president who wants to force Israel to 67 borders when most of Israel is not far from that same view? israel needs to be clear on what they want becuase there is no reason to seek a right wing american president to help Israel when Israel is clearly on a path to giving away YS and east jerusalem… and especially when I have never heard the supposed leader of the right wing Israel say:
“JEWISH SETTLEMENT IN YS IS LEGAL AND LEGITIMATE”
I am not a right winger in some issues and mainly for Israel so why should I waste my vote and hurt myself to get a president more pro Israel than Israel? The problem is not that Israel wants something and the world is against it… the problem is that there is no clear message from Israel and the Israeli left and the PM seem to only be concerned with security and not keeping YS. In such a case any president will go along with that. I see Israels left being the destruction of Israel and a physical danger to the Jewish diaspora.

right now, I would vote for Trump primarily because he clearly identifies Muslims as a threat and seeks to ban them from the US until we “figure it out”. No one else is willing to go on record for that. I am against the GOP for their support of the TPP, HB1 visascam, furtherance of corporate interests. Trump is the only reason to vote GOP right now. Sanders and hillary are the same as almost half of Israel wrt Israel so what difference does a strong right wing president mean wrt Israel?

The Israel that I am looking at right now is an Israel that does not declare the inalienable rights of Jews to settle in YS; an Israel that allows anti semitism against Jews from muslims more than France; an Israel which allows arab citizens to hobnob with terrorist jew killers; an Israel with lots of BS excuses about democracy when it was created to be a safe haven for Jews….. I am more interested in an Israel, and Jews, loyal to Jews and their safety as opposed to the safety of the anti semitic arabs.

Israel does not need foreign support, it needs Israeli Jewish support… which it cannot count on either from the left or the ultra orthodox nut cases who dance with enemies.

  15. Bear Klein Said:

I have personally spoken with a former exteme right wing Knesset Member who is not a fan of Bibi in the least.

I beleive that sharon was also one time considered right wing and look what he did. I find these hearsays suspect… if that were true then BB needed to inform Israelis of these facts and rally them around meeting the threats overtly. He seemed to have no problem arguing with obama publicly re Iran and getting nothing. BB has his own private agenda to which no one is knowlegeable but everyone should trust, and yet all his behavior is untrustworthy. BB’s MO is not an honest MO, Obamas threats, which you allege, should be shouted clearly to Israeli citizens and made clear to the republican congress and rubio. I have never heard BB say that Israel has been threatened by Obama, which if true ALL jews need to publicly hear. Instead we hear the opposite from BB. It is this playing with truth that destroys Israel.
Will those sentenced for the death of the arab boy be allowed to be swapped like the terrorists?
    Bear Klein Said:

I believe Ted may also have been informed by this former Knesset member of the above described threats by Obama.

If that were true, then BB needs to inform ALL Jews overtly so we can do something about it. I think it is BS, that there are other reasons but what we think is irrelvant. BB needs to account for his behavior and actions and not just leak through sources that the reason he has not implemented one shred of a right wing agenda for which he was elected, is that foreigners pressure him. If that is a true story then even more of a reason to get BB out because he prevents Jews from uniting against a clear threat.
    Bear Klein Said:

So he is managing the conflict keeping Israel from being as isolated as South Africa was but gradually very incrementally furthering building in Judah/Samaria and Jerusalem.

on the contrary, he builds nothing except outside or right next to the euro designated ghetto boundaries for the Jews… he makes sure that no jews are newly settled in other areas of C and under BB there is no rebuttal to BDS because that fake cannot even utter the words that “JEWISH SETTLEMENT IN YS IS LEGAL AND LEGITIMATE”. Just like the Israeli left whom his actions mimic, he facilitates the leftist agenda wrt jewish settlement. the BB you describe is a shtetl Jew keeping jews out of YS and keeping quiet on the rights of Jews. Even the weakest pal arab has more dignity because at least they proclaim and declare their rights and claims whereas BB only keeps quiet on Jewish rights thus encouraging Jews to beleive that the BDS liars are right. It is he who makes it look like jews are stealing other lands by only referring to security. He is guilty, your arguments are weak and give no facts, just more annymous stories.

  16. Israel is turning the desert green — khaki, to be precise. Tens of thousands of military personnel are being moved from Tel Aviv to abet the creation of a modern urban center along a burgeoning cyber-security hub in the Negev.

A $20 billion blueprint is transforming Beersheba, the only city in the sprawling desert, into a key front in the world’s escalating cyber conflicts, and not just a target for Palestinian rockets from nearby Gaza. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to capitalize on demand from companies and governments for beefed-up defenses against virtual attacks from anonymous foes.

“The biggest challenge for Israel is developing the Negev,” said Rubik Danilovich, the mayor of Beersheba. “If you take the map of Israel and fold it in half, Beersheba is the center of Israel geographically and we want it to have buzz and vision.”

Taming the Negev has been one of the Jewish state’s foundational stories. Israel’s first premier, David Ben Gurion, made settling it a priority, a goal that led to the development of farming advances like drip irrigation. In the 21st century, kibbutzim and oranges are out and cities and high-tech are in.

Technology contributes about half of Israel’s industrial exports. Sales abroad account for about a third of gross domestic product. Israel is known as Startup Nation, stemming from a 2009 book of the same title. Cybersecurity exports totaled $3 billion in 2013, or about 5 percent of the global market. Hacking costs the world economy as much as $575 billion a year, according to a McAfee Inc. study published in June.
    Work in Progress

Beersheba, home to 220,000, is a work in progress as investment comes in ahead of the military move.

Cranes dot its low-slung skyline. Apartment buildings sheathed in peeling yellow and white plaster around sandy yards covered with tarpaulins are increasingly sharing neighborhoods with steel-and-glass high rises.

Fountains now greet travellers as they drive into the city, replacing the rocky dry expanse of earlier years. In the Old City, bars and cafes are taking over abandoned shops.

Netanyahu’s Cabinet last week approved the plan to move the military bases south. The premier, running for re-election March 17, said it marked the start of a “huge revolution” in the Negev.
    Changing Views

The biggest challenge may not just be moving people but changing perceptions of a place dismissed by most as a backwater where residents are still perceived in the north as “riding camels,” said Miki Malul, an economist at the city’s Ben Gurion University.

The cyber development will go a long way to luring more industry and fulfilling 43-year-old mayor Danilovich’s dream of turning Beersheba into a metropolitan city.

Since he took over City Hall in 2008, three separate conflicts with Gaza, 25 miles away, have made Beersheba a target of rocket attacks, halting development for months.

Rockets haven’t been the only obstacle, according to Avishay Braverman, an opposition Labor lawmaker and former president of Ben Gurion University. He says the government has been dragging its feet.

“It’s a crying shame,” he said. “The payoff from this for Israel is in the tens of billions of dollars. All the government needs to cut out the bureaucracy, build an industry and push it forward.

  17. Bibi’s Bar Illan speech as painful as it was to make and as much political greif as it has provided him has in essence kept Obama from creating a Palestinian state on his watch. In the interim the Palestinians and fellow Arabs have shown even the Israeli left that a Palestinian state is really not feasible. So the questions naturally what is next.

Here in part what the speech said. Caving to Obama technically but in actuality putting Obama in checkmate on getting a Pal State on his watch.

On 14 June 2009, Netanyahu delivered a seminal address[176] at Bar-Ilan University (also known as the “Bar-Ilan speech”), at Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies, that was broadcast live in Israel and across parts of the Arab world, on the topic of the Middle East peace process. He endorsed for the first time the notion of a Palestinian state alongside Israel.[177] Netanyahu’s speech could be viewed in part as a response to Obama’s 4 June speech at Cairo. Yedioth Ahronoth claimed that Obama’s words had “resonated through Jerusalem’s corridors”.[178]

As part of his proposal, Netanyahu demanded the full demilitarization of the proposed state, with no army, rockets, missiles, or control of its airspace, and said that Jerusalem would be undivided Israeli territory. He stated that the Palestinians should recognize Israel as the Jewish national state with an undivided Jerusalem. He rejected a right of return for Palestinian refugees, saying, “any demand for resettling Palestinian refugees within Israel undermines Israel’s continued existence as the state of the Jewish people.” He also stated that a complete stop to settlement building in the West Bank, as required by the 2003 Road Map peace proposal, was not possible and the expansions will be limited based on the “natural growth” of the population, including immigration, with no new territories taken in. Nevertheless, Netanyahu affirmed that he accepted the Road Map proposal.[179] He did not discuss whether or not the settlements should be part of Israel after peace negotiations, simply stating that the “question will be discussed”.[177]

In a response to U.S. President Barack Obama’s statements in his Cairo speech, Netanyahu remarked, “there are those who say that if the Holocaust had not occurred, the State of Israel would never have been established. But I say that if the State of Israel would have been established earlier, the Holocaust would not have occurred.” He also said, “this is the homeland of the Jewish people, this is where our identity was forged.” He stated that he would be willing to meet with any “Arab leader” for negotiations without preconditions, specifically mentioning Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon.[177] In general, the address represented a new position for Netanyahu’s government on the peace process.[69]

Some right-wing members of Netanyahu’s governing coalition criticized his remarks for the creation of a Palestinian State; believing that all of the land should become under Israeli sovereignty. Likud MK Danny Danon said that Netanyahu went “against the Likud platform”,[180] while MK Uri Orbach of Habayit Hayehudi said that it had “dangerous implications”.[181] Opposition party Kadima leader Tzipi Livni remarked after the address that she thinks Netanyahu does not really believe in the two-state solution at all; she thought that he only said what he did as a feigned response to international pressure.[182] Peace Now criticized the speech, highlighting that, in the group’s opinion, it did not address the Palestinians as equal partners in the peace process. The Secretary General of Peace Now, Yariv Oppenheimer, said, “It’s a rerun of Netanyahu from his first term”.[183]

On 9 August 2009, speaking at the opening of government meeting Netanyahu repeated his claims from the Palestinians: “We want an agreement with two factors, the first of which is the recognition of Israel as the national state of the Jewish people and (the second of which is) a security settlement”.[184]

No Palestinian leader would agree to this as it was much less than Olmert offered and they would be dead within a month because they can not agree to a Jewish State because that goes against their whole narrative that the Jews have no rights in the middle east.

  18. @ bernard ross:
I have personally spoken with a former exteme right wing Knesset Member who is not a fan of Bibi in the least.

What he told me, (early in Obama’s first term) was that he was at a meeting where Bibi was told, If Bibi did not go along with negotiating a two state plan plus restrict settlement he would find that the USA abandoning Israel on all fronts (diplomatically in UN – no more vetoes on behalf of Israel in the security council), weapons needs possibly, and other threats”.

Some things you will not find in print or blogs. Some things one must experience. I believe Ted may also have been informed by this former Knesset member of the above described threats by Obama.

This is why by Bibi did his famous speech at Bar Illan. He came up with a formula for a PAL State that he knew the Pals would never agree to but he was going along to a limited degree with Obama. So he is managing the conflict keeping Israel from being as isolated as South Africa was but gradually very incrementally furthering building in Judah/Samaria and Jerusalem.

  19. After attack, Ramle mayor says city a model of coexistence
    http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/207592#.VrSxJ_krLIU

    HMMMMMMM??????

“They are Israeli citizens who are within the Israeli society, we have no problems of loyalty, they are good people,” insisted the mayor, who ran with the leftist Kadima party in the 2009 elections and opposed joining Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s government…..

Despite Lavi’s protestations, Ramle has a long history of tension. Massive Arab riots were seen in the city last October in support of the current Arab terror wave as it began to gain steam. Back in 2013 a Jewish protest against growing vandalism, verbal harassment and a firebomb attack by Arab residents was interrupted by yet more Arab violence.

Rabbi Aryeh Handler, dean of the Ramle Hesder Yeshiva, told Arutz Sheva last July that the Arab residents are acting like “occupiers,” after students caught on film the Arab rock and firebomb attacks the yeshiva suffers on a weekly basis.

Regarding the question of sentiments among Israel’s Arab citizenry, a poll last November found 57% of Israeli Arabs feel the radical Islamic Movement in Israel that is funded by Hamas represents them faithfully. Likewise 18.2% of Arab Muslim citizens of Israel said they do not consider Islamic State (ISIS) to be a radical terrorist organization, and that they are not ashamed of the brutal jihadist group.

HMMMM???? Is Lavi the leftist telling fibs?

  20. Bear Klein Said:

Bibi is certainly not beyond criticism. He may not always be fast enough or proceed too cautiously on matters.

He is always fast enough and lacking caution when he is advancing his agenda:
He very quickly arranged for 4 top leaders to accuse, without evidence or a suspect in custody, Jewish settlers of burning arab babies. That was very fast and definitely lacking in caution since every other national leader on the globe would have instead advised caution, patience, waiting for the process of law to be fulfilled before jumping to conclusions. Instead, fast and without caution, all four did it together, in unison, in chorus,in order to make sure their message was heard and internalized throughout the globe. Now why would they do that knowing full well that Jews might be revenge burned, stabbed and murdered for no reason??????? Please explain this very fast incautious behavior? Therefore even you can see that he is willing to be fast and lacking in caution.

    Bear Klein Said:

However it really is boring to read he is not a Zionist and working in collusion with the EU or gulf states. Please people have some proportion.

In order for you to arrive at your conclusion you would need to explain why a person like BB… who is proven capable of being very fast and lacking in caution….. why did he only begin to act against the illegal euro bldg AFTER he was exposed by others. It appears that after he was exposed he became slow and cautious in tearing their illegal structures down, in jailing the perps, in expelling the diplomats and orgs… basically in allowing the law to be enforced.

For the seven years of his term the euros were illegally building with him turning a blind eye.. a nod and a wink.

    Bear Klein Said:

Even if he has made mistakes. Point out the mistakes, kindly stop with the over the top insults, they add nothing constructive

Not mistakes, facts, factual behavior….I post the facts of BB’s behavior, you post no facts in rebuttal… instead you offer the usual spin which is always anonymously released but never stated publicly, that he is “under pressure from foreign govs”… in that way he gets to continue his factual behavior while folks like you spin the narrative that even he does not come out and say.

For your narrative to have any mileage we would have to believe the following of BB for those 7 years:

  21. Bibi is certainly not beyond criticism. He may not always be fast enough or proceed too cautiously on matters. That said he has done many good things for Israel.

I am ready for a new leader (it is healthy to have new leaders periodically). Nir Barkat the Mayor Jerusalem is joining the Likud and if he plays his cards right he has the brains, strength and charisma if he times things right to eventually become the new leader of the country and the Likud. Bennett is very good but there will not be a leader of the country from Bayit Yehudi in the manner it is looked at by most Israelis, that is reality. His party would need to merge with Likud and then many of his people would desert the party.

Israelis criticize Bibi from the left, right and center and most certainly the leftist media.

However it really is boring to read he is not a Zionist and working in collusion with the EU or gulf states. Please people have some proportion. Look in the mirror what have you done that compares to him over a lifetime. Even if he has made mistakes. Point out the mistakes, kindly stop with the over the top insults, they add nothing constructive.

  22. There is a vast difference between us. Ostensibly, Netanyahu is maintaining the status quo in Judea and Samaria, but the fact is that there is no such thing. The situation in Judea and Samaria is dynamic. Netanyahu is acting both openly and covertly to bring about a situation in which it will be impossible to implement separation between the Palestinians and us.

what a liar this guy is:
BB facilitates euro illegal building of muslim homes in YS while at the same time restricting Jews to within and next to the large blocks only. This obviously favors the pal control over C outside the major blocks. This policy appears based on relinquishing the areas which BB bars to Jews. I see no daylight between the fake zionist BB and the fake “zionist camp”. BB’s MO appears to be a policeman working for the euros to keep the jews in their euro designated ghetto boundaries while the euros build arab homes without punishment. It is so transparently obvious.

  23. Zionist Camp sets sights on settler vote

They also realize that there is a demographic price to pay for keeping all the territories. Deep inside, they know that it is impossible for us to give blue [Israeli] identity cards to millions of Palestinians.

therefore the solution of the left is NOT to remove those who are an existential threat to Jews but instead to remove Jews from the ancient Jewish homeland. The arabs kill jews so the solution is to remove jews and leave. So what is to prevent them from doing the same they have done every time the jews leave? What prevents them from continuing their terror, along with the israeli arab 5th column, to force the dissolution of the Jewish state? Why not leave Tel Aviv and all of Israel.. having tasted success in forcing Jews out the logical reaction is to continue the successful MO. Leaving is no solution, and giving jew killers equality and citizenship is no solution. They should be treated as hostile enemies, kept under strict supervision, and encouraged, or forced, to leave. The criminal anti semite must lose not the Jews who sought peace and failed.

When they started to talk about the “resident” status that the Arabs of East Jerusalem have, I used their own argument as a mirror. I told them that if they [the Palestinian permanent residents of East Jerusalem] decide tomorrow that they want to participate in Jerusalem’s municipal elections, the newly elected mayor of Jerusalem will be a Palestinian. It was moments like that during our conversation that caused me to feel like they also have some questions to ponder. They do not have obvious answers for everything.

How is it possible that it is the enemy arabs who get to make the choice of voting as opposed to the Jews who had to war against their aggression?

See this is the MO of the left, pretending that there are only two alternatives, presenting the Jews with threats if they dont choose the left touted alterantive of running away. But there is a 3rd alternative: NOT GIVING ENEMIES CITIZENSHIP!
they can leave, they can have temporary residence until they leave but under no circumstances should Jews give anti semites citizenship in the Jewish nation. I dont care about them, Israel was not created for them but for the Jews. Anyone who bases the future of the Jews on trying to make others happy is a dangerous idiot.

we plan to visit settlements in the settlement blocs that will remain part of Israel under any agreement. I intend to win over supporters there by putting the situation into sharper focus for them. When we treat Kida and [the settlement city of] Ariel the same way, we are actually putting Ariel and Gush Etzion [Etzion settlement bloc] at risk.

This is how the left seeks to break up settler unity by convincing those in the major blocks to cut and run from the others in order to maintain their own security and happiness. I have encountered those living in the large blocks who are stalwart supporters of BB not for YS but for what they have. Perhaps the left is already successful in driving a wedge between real zionists.

the day that they called themselves the “zionist camp” was the day they entered into the realm of shameless deceivers and frauds: considering that their only platform and agenda is a rush to give the jewish homeland to the muslims to build muslim homes. I have heard no complaint from the left about the illegal euro building in YS.

  24. Palestinians in Jordan outraged over new work permit requirements

    http://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/originals/2016/02/jordan-work-permits-palestinian-refugees.html#ixzz3z83jnaIi

here lies the optimum solution… prevented only by the existence of the imported foreign hashemites in Jordan. The paradigm of maintaining the status quo stability in Jordan is an anachronism considering that only their existence prevents the leaving of the pals for Jordan. Jordan does every twist and turn to maintain the thorn in the side of Israel but it would be best for everyone, except the hashemites, if the pals took over there and made their home there. If anyone destabilizes Jordan, Israel should this time allow it to happen and then after the hashemites are deposed then go in and establish a gov there.

  25. They will construct tunnels wherever they can!
As long as the West refuses to put pressure on the Pal, IL must entertain the possibility of a 2nd Jewish holocaust in Israel!!!
The Pal represent the Muslim world (1,5 Bil) VS 6,5 Mil Jews. So there is no question about who is the David! Forget the left systematic DISINFORMATION about the division in the Muslim world. When it comes to IL and the Jews the anti-Semitic West and the Muslims are united. That is far more than 2,5 Bil!!!

  26. Herzog said, “the separation plan is the only way to move things in the region and advance towards the vision of two states in the future

. See how herzog touts the mantra of his foreign handlers? Without Herzog and the other foreign paid moles, president Hussein would have no hope of destroying Israel. Herzog is the obama sock puppet speaking the words of his puppeteer.

  27. Herzog peddles peace plan to Kerry

Labor head urges US to advance his regional plan to divide Israel and ‘separate,’ in ‘drastic step’ before end of Obama’s term.

During the meeting, which is the fourth between the two in the last half-year, Kerry expressed interest in Herzog’s plan, which would form a regional security committee consisting of Egypt, Jordan and Israel together with other Arab states.

    http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/207469#.VrIEzrIrLIU

so now we can see that this mole who begs foreigners to sabotage Israel wants to also involve Israels enemies in the security of Israel. What a NUT!!!!!

This committee would coordinate a joint fight against radical Islamic terror, according to Herzog, and likewise advance “confidence building measures” in the Middle East.

invite in the enemies to handle Israels security…. a sort of wakf agreement for all of Israel. How did that work at the MOunt?

In a meeting with Kerry last November he clarified those measures would include “removing territories from Israel.”

Ah… here we see the ONLY platform that Herzog labor has for Israel…. their only continuing solution to all the prior decades of muslims killing Jews…. his great leftist panacea…. lets get out of Israel and then the muslims will leave us alone…… and if they dont we can still live like we did with gaza and lebanon…. wasnt that a success. Herzog brings nothing new but it is interesting that anyone listens to his proven failed suggestions with (LOL) hope.

“The security situation cannot continue,” Herzog told Kerry. “Israelis are murdered on the streets and the world is focusing on ridiculous initiatives and boycotts. This is an act of ignoring the reality.”

so lets run and hide… that should work.

Herzog said, “the separation plan is the only way to move things in the region and advance towards the vision of two states in the future. It won’t be realized tomorrow morning, but if we want to succeed in creating a true prospect (for peace) we need to take drastic steps. To stop the big words.”

in other words, while it continues to fail for decades we have the consolation that all the dead jews resulting from Herzogs insanity will be contributing to “creating a true prospect for peace”…… an absolute and utter madman… or perhaps just a pathetic idiot.

Herzog added that the Americans must “advance the establishment of a regional security council with the participation of the moderate Arab states.”

yes, since israel does not wish to commit suicide lets get the americans and foreigners to force suicide on us… a sort of “tough love” policy like the revenge stabbings.

“The committee needs to take place before the end of President (Barack) Obama’s term,” added the MK, in apparent effort to get the lame duck president to force Israel’s hand.

like I said, a foreign mole, seeking to get the foreigners to force Israelis into suicide. He is saying exactly what president hussein wants Israel to do…. I wonder who pays that despicable creature who tries to advise Jews into suicide just like Barak, sharon and Olmert before him. when Jews are stabbed and killed Israelis should look to their own left to understand that the global jew murdering anti semitism is goaded by the insane israeli left. Jews tried to leave germany but were followed by the nazis wherever they went… Herzog uses the same logic… but Jews cannot run far enough to escape the enemy….. they must make their enemies lives unlivable.

  28. Poll: Half of Israel’s Jews want to annex Judea-Samaria

Women in Green welcome poll finding 45% back annexation of entire Biblical heartland, say ‘the Left’s agendas are being dropped.’

    http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/207455#.VrIX07IrLIU

and yet the recognized political leader of the right wing gives no voice to those Jews and actively has facilitated for the last 7 years the illegal euro building of muslim homes in YS…. he only allows jews to build on the western side of that european designated ghetto boundary. The euros slap israels face repeatedly and he turns the other cheek when he should demolish all their projects in C, ban their orgs and diplomats from C, jail those who participated in the illegal venture who do not have diplomatic immunity and expel those with diplomatic immunity. But no…. that is what a normal nation would do…. even a weak one with pride….. but not Israel under BB. Instead he will continue to whine and complain to all in an effort to distract from his leftist MO>

  29. Bear Klein Said:

This point must be made to the EU and Obama/Hillary types over and over.

they know this and dont care….. focus must be place elsewhere.. on settling Jews in YS contrary to their wishes.
    Bear Klein Said:

deport all PLO/PA leaders plus their families.

there is a good legal precedent for deporting those PLO families who I believe number in the tens of thousands. They were allowed into Israel on the basis of the now defunct failed Oslo and therefore they really have no legal basis to remain in Israel. especially since it is they who keep violating Oslo. Get rid of that bunch and there is a good start to getting rid of trouble. best to go back to bombing them in Tunisia or gaza or anywhere else than having them in Israel.
Personally, I think Herzog is nuts and am deeply worried that so many Jews are deficient in basic logic. ON the other hand his support is from foreigners who control events in Israel through media and bought pols.

  30. Bear Klein Said:

Truth is Israel can not abandon any land now because it will 100% for sure be used by terrorists to attack Israel. No one with a brain doubts this.

you are 100% correct. I find it incredible that many Israelis beleive they can run out of YS to the other side of their euro designated ghetto and expect that the pals will just give up their fight. In fact, if such a thing were to happen it would make them double down on pushing the Jews out of all of Israel having been buoyed by their success. Am I just talking hot air like that nut Herzog? Not at all, leaving lebanoon and gaza prove me right and since Israel stopped settling YS there are more attempts by the arabs to delegitimize Israel’s existence as a state. Like most leftist fools Herzog cant remember that it is more difficult to correct massive errors than avoid them in the first place. I refer him to Sharon and Barak who had the same ideas as Herzog.

  31. Yes Ted if the questionnaire had asked keeping secure positions and the Jordan Valley a significant majority of Israelis would be for it. This is why Herzog felt safe politically saying Israel should separate plus keep the IDF in all of Judah/Samaria until a real agreement is reached which is not now possible.

Truth is Israel can not abandon any land now because it will 100% for sure be used by terrorists to attack Israel. No one with a brain doubts this.

This point must be made to the EU and Obama/Hillary types over and over.

The other truth is that it is easier to play offense in war and not defense. The Pals are weak so are for the moment just building up more layers of defense. This is not a good long term strategy.

The IDF convinced the government that if Israel goes on offense and closes down all the Pal cities plus making raids to round up masses of terrorists that we would spark a significant battle with all the Pals in lieu of the small numbers we have been fighting.
This means we will accept this trickle of attacks?

Minimally give the PA and its security apparatus Notice any more attacks and we will go full bore on you and close down the PA and its cities and deport all PLO/PA leaders plus their families.
