Saudi king seeks ‘urgent’ UN action on “dangerous Israeli escalations” on Temple Mount

T. Belman. What chance is there for Israel to advance its relations with Saudi Arabia in order to jointly oppose Iran when the Saudis continue to blame us for our defense of our rights on the Temple Mount and demand that we sign the Non Proliferation Treaty. In addition though Israel is meeting with them, there is no suggestion that they will amend the Arab Peace Initiative in our favour.

Palestinian women argue with Israeli policemen during a protest against Jewish groups visiting the Temple Mount which houses the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem on September 16, 2015.

Saudi King Salman has appealed to UN chief Ban Ki-moon and members of the Security Council for “urgent measures” after clashes at the Temple Mount and al-Aqsa Mosque, state media reported late Wednesday.

Salman “expressed strong condemnation of the dangerous Israeli escalation” at the holy site where Palestinian protesters clashed with Israeli police for three straight days, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

“He called for serious and speedy international efforts and for the intervention of the Security Council to take all urgent measures to stop these violations,” it said.

Salman added that the “attack on worshipers” violates the sanctity of religions “and contributes to feeding extremism and violence in the world.”

SPA said Salman made the same appeal in phone calls to British Prime Minister David Cameron, Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Francois Hollande.

Hollande warned on Wednesday that any change in the rules governing Al-Aqsa mosque compound could lead to “serious destabilization.”

The compound is the holiest site in Judaism, which venerates it as the Temple Mount, and the third-holiest site in Islam.

Under longstanding regulations, Jews are allowed to visit but cannot pray there to avoid provoking tensions.

Muslim protesters fear Israel will seek to change the rules governing the site, with far-right Jewish groups pushing for more access and even efforts by fringe organizations to erect a new temple.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly said he is committed to the “status quo,” but Palestinians remain deeply suspicious.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas accused Israel on Wednesday of “waging a fierce and relentless war against us in Jerusalem.”

On Thursday, police arrested eight Palestinians — including six minors — suspected of involvement in the recent clashes with Israeli security forces. Since Sunday, at least three dozen Palestinian protesters have been detained by Israel, and 14 Israeli police officers were injured by rocks and firecrackers hurled at them by protesters.

The clashes began Sunday morning, with security forces seizing pipe bombs at the site in an operation carried out hours before Jews prepared to celebrate the Jewish New Year. The Shin Bet security service alerted police to the cache, apparently an effort by Palestinians to stock up on bombs, flares and rocks ahead of an organized riot.

The police said its forces had entered the site after protesters began throwing stones and firecrackers at the Mughrabi Gate, the access point for non-Muslim visitors to the site. Police said that protesters had wedged open a door to the mosque, which officers had later closed, allowing visits to the Temple Mount to continue as scheduled.

The UN, US and EU have urged restraint on both sides amid the latest clashes, while Jordan, which has custodianship rights over Muslim holy places in Jerusalem under its 1994 peace treaty with Israel, has warned that bilateral relations are at stake.

  1. Egypt’s Sissi condemns ‘violations’ on Temple MountEgyptian president says Israel must take ‘immediate and effective steps’ to reduce tensions after a week of unrest

the best and most promising step to end violence and provocations would be to permanently ban muslims from the Mount… I have never heard of Jews attacking or abusing muslims on the Mount, its always the muslims promoting violence worldwide.

“The international community must realize the attachment of all Muslims to this place,” he said, warning that the unrest could have “grave consequences for peace and stability.”

this is the error of the arabs and euros in that they do not acknowledge and facilitate Jewish connections, and needs, and in so doing cause themselves to be forever in a well deserved mess

  2. The betraying, cowardly, lying speechster specialized on face making and posing on TV aided by cardboard props and red markers, NEVER wanted Jerusalem, even less Y & S and I doubt that he desires a JEWISH State, if he wants even a state at all.
His actions dating back to his first move as purported PM when he provided Arafat with the still in use by the enemy Karl Gustav’s automatic rifles are patently clear. Netanyahu lies as a way of life.
He will not rest until he gets… his Nobel over the ashes of all people here.
He will destroy all Jewish holdings. Not really build.
Will abandon or destroy all Jewish Heritage Icons.
Temple Mount is only the top on his agenda to abandon. The rest will be abandoned or destroyed later by the unJews led by Netanyahu. (Peres lurking in the shades).
The same plan used by Dayan originally is in place today.

    SOLUTION:
Those are listed on Platforms in place since early the 2000’s by us and others and more recently by Rav Meir Ettinger, an “administrative detainee”…
TOTAL REGIME CHANGE. Nothing else will save the Jewish State. And even us all.

  3. Israel’s appeasing Jordan and insisting Jews continue to accept second class status in perpetuity on the Temple Mount is an unjust arrangement that will not endure.

Even that is no longer sufficient to satisfy Jew-hating Arabs. In truth, its the battle for Jerusalem that is now under way.

Capitulating to the Arabs will not bring about peace.

  4. What does Israeli leadership perceive is being gained by demonstrating weakness? Obama is giving nukes to Iran, Abbas is at the UN rallying the world against the Jews, and the Euros are in full anti-“Zionist” mode. How is Netanyahu’s appeasement mollifying anyone? Other than satisfying some masochistic compulsion, this policy of turning the other cheek is totally counterproductive.

It is not even Jewish. We are the “eye for an eye” crowd. Leave the cheek turning to the goyim.

  5. he said Thursday. “When I want something I get it, and I want to change this situation across the board.”

Proof positive that BB NEVER wanted to advance jewish settlement in YS as in his last 2 terms it appears that he accomplished nothing in that direction.

either he is lying now or he is disclosing his real position on Jewish settlement in YS:

HE DOES NOT WANT JEWISH SETTLEMENT IN YS!!!!!!!!!!

  6. the muslim woman who shoves her finger in the soldiers face in the picture is typical of the muslim view of Jews in Israel… they despise the Jews because the jews do not stand up for their own, they despise the Jews because the Jews allow the muslims to attack their own……. they see the Jews as cowards who stand for nothing.
the woman in the picture whoulc have been beaten with a nightstick and put in the hospital along with the rest of the muslim anti semites. the behavior of the GOI towards the muslim anti semites is unforgiveable…… the jews who escaped the nazi ovens are now allowed to be set upon by the muslims in the so called Jewish state that refuses to portect Jews and supports the libels and defamations of Jews and their homeland. Is it better when a Jewish gov allow anti semites to abuse Jews? Personally I would like to see a horrendous and merciless attack on the anti semites.

  7. SHmuel HaLevi 2 Said:

Bets about what the speechster will do?

Illustrating this point, on Tuesday night after Netanyahu promised increased deterrence against Arab terror King toured the “terror dens” of eastern Jerusalem and found a complete absence of police presence.
    http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/200767#.VfriRt9Viko

Looks like the fraud is up to his old tricks of making announcements, taking credit and then doing nothing.
I predict that he well knows that the sniper suggestions, deportations, etc. will all be shot down by a supreme court which he obstructed shaked from reigning in….. for obvious reasons. BB’s MO is to appoint others to do the dirty work while he appears to be clean.

Meanwhile, instead of protecting Jews, the 3 stooges of BB, yaalon and rivlin are still looking to incarcerate, without evidence the Jewish phantoms they concocted as a distraction from the arab perpetrated Duma arson and murder.

Until the GOI takes up the banner of zero telerance of anti semitism from muslims in Israel and the banner that Jewish settlement in YS should be “facilitated and encouraged”…. there will continue to be pogroms on Jews in eretz yisroel.

  8. @ SHmuel HaLevi 2:
No need to gamble, SHmuel! Bibi will barr Jews from Har Habayit, since, obviously, JOOOZZZZ are the problem. He’s done it before, and he’ll do it again.

You know, Bibi wants to remake Likud into a GOP clone. Makes sense, since both Bibi and the Republicans talk a lot about conservative ideas, then implement leftist policies. If the shoe fits…

  9. Bets about what the speechster will do?
Anyone that betrays to avoid winning in the battlefield by design will see his of her country be beaten to a pulp in the follow up.

  10. Gotta hand it to the Saudis, they know how to play the UN and the rest of the world. How? Step one: Funnel money to pay Muslims to make trouble on the Mount. Step two: Condemn Israel when they try to restore order. Once again, follow the money!! I say, for every incident of rioting on the Mount, Muslims should be prevented from accessing the Mount, completely, for 24 hours. But I am sure Israel’s new “super right wing government” will maintain order and protect equal rights on the Temple Mount. Right? Right?
