Levin: We Now Have a Mandate, And a Responsibility
MK Yariv Levin said that the elections finally gave the Likud a clear mandate to rule Israel in the way the party felt it should be ruled.
In an interview with Arutz Sheva, MK Yariv Levin, chairman of the outgoing Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, lauded his party’s victory in Tuesday’s elections, and said that it finally gave the Likud a clear mandate to rule Israel in the way the party felt it should be ruled.
“This is a great accomplishment, and I salute the public who supported us, despite all the anti-Netanyahu propaganda in the media and by Yitzhak Herzog and Tzipi Livni, and all the money that was spent to beat us,” said Levin. “
The pressure in the media was great, but the fact that the issues were placedbefore the public allowed us to present out views to the public, turning us into a strong political force.”
Among the issues the Likud needs to tackle is the “one-sided attitude” of the media and the justice system, said Levin. “There need to be changes in the radical leftist rule that shows itself in so many aspects of Israeli society. We will among other things seek to diffuse the powers of the High Court, the Attorney General, the way judges are chosen, and other basic issues on which a Jewish state is founded.”
Israel’s media establishment also needs a shake-up, he said. “The radical left control of the media denies many of Israel’s citizens its rightful voice, and deregulating television broadcasts and establishing new media and news outlets will undoubtedly raise the level of media diversity and Jewish identity.”
“The responsibility is now ours,” said Levin. “We can govern the country in our own way now, with a right-wing government with a comfortable 67 mandates.”
Noted … and open-minded … but still supportive of BB’s courage.
@ rsklaroff:
Netanyahu did not cull a thing other than a few marginal elements. I met with people that organized a voluntary vote shift to DEFEAT Mr. Obama and his gang here. Netanyahu was and remains only a TV appealing tool to that effect.
Only a New Jewish National Convention to replace the corrupt set up now in place may save the State.
We are organizing such Convention.
The elitists are always first and foremost for themselves while pretending to support the weak! And after that they are still for themselves.
Why isn’t the West fighting so much for a Kurdish country. They have no intention to eliminate anybody the way the Hamas and Iran plan on eliminating Israel!!!
This always comes down to: ANTISEMITISM.
Time to “Clean les ecuries d’Augias”. It really stinks out there. Don’t forget the academia too.
Betcha the “Israel is the Jewish State” legislation will be prioritized; in many respects, staying-the-course militarily is assumed, and assuredly he’ll now confront the $-issues that Herzog raised.
Noting how party platforms in America are routinely ignored [by both incumbents and the loyal-opposition], it would seem that – behaviorally – most Israelis know what to expect for the next four years [including two without BHO in-office, succeeded one-would-hope by a Republican].

People forget that BB does not have a platform; he has no agenda; no list of goals he wishes to achieve.
I have never seen anyonne run for head of state without an agenda or a list of goals to achieve, a legislative agenda, etc.
Perhaps likud has one, but I never read about what they were going to do after they win, what they want to accomplish, BB did not present a list of bills he was going to submit. I may not agree with obama goals and agenda but like most wannabe leaders he had a list and implemented it.
What is BB’s list of goals he wishes to achieve, especially legislatively? Having none is a bad sign. 🙁

Watch this Egyptian woman message to Obama. She is a good dancer.

Disagree.
All polling showed he was the preferred “next” PM, regardless of party affiliation; his justified effort to cull the right-wing [to ensure Herzog didn’t receive the initial request to create a government] was a natural result of the consolidation process which was triggered by the Sunday rally and enhanced when Tzipi dropped her flip-flop plan to share the PM-spot.
@ rsklaroff:
The vote for him was also sternly conditioned. For the aware that was plain to see.
He was about to lose the election three days before the vote and certain circles decided to shift votes to the Likud. Why?
The shift was almost totally focused to DEFEAT Mr. Obama, not to give unconditional power to Mr. Netanyahu.

Wild pigs are too tricky for that to happen.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu withdrew his pledge to block the creation of a Palestinian state, saying he only believed the conditions for one “today are not achievable.”
In an interview with Fox News, the prime minister said that he believed a Palestinian state could exist if it were demilitarized and recognizes Israel as a Jewish state. But he said he couldn’t support such a state now because of the threat that Islamic State or militant groups backed by Iran would gain control there.
[precisely as had been stated pre-election, despite media having ignored the conditional]
NOT a backtrack, because initial statement was qualified.
My wife and I were relieved that Bibi won. He now needs to start walking his talk. I haven’t yet read the article here about a Likud member desiring to start talks with PA, but that seems like a quick about-face if it’s true.
We agree with mar55, Obama needs to leave now, in shackles. I don’t get how we still put up with him. Sellout RINOs I guess.

I that case, Darlin, BBQ that pig.
@ SHmuel HaLevi 2:
Just saw him backtrack on his election promise of “NO PAL STATE…” It’s now Back on the table just as his stooge and lackey Hanegbi said yesterday. Wants to increase # of ministers so he can bribe more wannabees. I see more of the same and everybody will get most if not all of what they want leave BB alone for 3-4 years to really screw us…. Another defeat snatched from victory by electing BB.

Yes,here in Texas pigs can most definitely fly.
@ SHmuel HaLevi 2:
He will grovel if he is true to form. I have no good expectations from him. I have been waiting a long time for him to prove me wrong, too long to still have any faith in him.
As for your laundry list??? 🙂 🙂
Can pigs fly?
How about also dumping on NGOs that fail to report quarterly to the Registrar of Non-Profits, in total contravention with the law?
I’d like to see a few traitors behind bars.
@ mar55:
I was invited by the Y & S Council to try to oversee the voting in the Galil Muslim villages. Mr. Obama’s trucking experts were too many and had huge sums to try to stop them.
Netanyahu received the mandate he requested but a stern eye is on him. He must cut down Hanegbi and Molcho.
Now I am following the verbal meanderings of the Psaki fronter at the State Department.
Don Obama was told to eat crow but the telling must be followed by stern redirection of policy and action.
As a start he must order the closure of some 20 “united nations” bases in Israel.
The second warning act may include the request to reduce “diplomatic” operatives, CIA, NSA, etc, here.
Should the crow eating Muslim there openly act against us, the US consulates must be requested closed and Israeli consulates in the US closed as well.
Any Iranian US agreement found lacking our security interests in it, must be responded to with a fast action.
We are all elated but must remain alert.
@ SHmuel HaLevi 2:
Welcome back Mr. Halevi. We miss you.You were commenting until the last hour and, yesterday when everyone was in this forum celebrating the victory of the right or better said the defeat of the left you were absent.
I’m glad to see you back.
Now we will have to deal with the big O on this side. He just wants to see Israel destroyed.
I would like him to leave the WH as I have said before.
Handcuffs and shackels.

…worried about bho.
This would also batten-down the hatches during an anticipated honeymoon period while the UN acts-out.
Because of the urgency of this situation, i type from a hand-held, and was unable to complete the above thought….
My global point is that BB can manifest humility based on awareness that his last-minute appeal must-have eroded support for other parties also worri
I am only basing comments upon what i have read, but it seems that BB can assemble a TRULY “unity”-type coalition by including 70-plus mandates.
Everyone could simply be requested to support the aforementioned bill.
This would also be less fragile because no one party would be able to threaten withdrawal over any one issue.
Regarding Lieberman, for example, noting the trajectory of his party, it would perhaps be desirable to reward Bennett as a priority.
In this fashion, BB would be able to act-out gratitude for attracting necessary support from like-minded conservatives who heeded his appeal for fighting bho
Lieberman wants an important job. I say make him justice minister (tounge in cheek)that sure would be revenge on the left.
BB need only follow the model in America depicting the evolution of the TEA (taxed enough already) party movement in all media (talk radio, emphasizing Rush … cable TV, emphasizing Fox … Internet, emphasizing Drudge … journalism, emphasizing Breitbart).
The foundation exists and must be expanded; bho can only be anticipated to become even more malignant, along with anti-Semites for whom he will run interference.
As a cornerstone of the effort to combat domestic violence, BB should start with passage of the “Israel is the Jewish State” addition to the Basic Law; the repercussions will then emerge and then become more easily resolved.
Indeed, if he develops the required instruments, Netanyahu must cut down that strata and open the ranks to the people.
Courts, military command, police, etc must be rebuilt to true democratic formats.
