  1. The Constitution is the basis of the US Law, so everyone is obligated to know it and understand it. It is what citizenship is all about.
It is the PRIMARY reason why all Jews are obligated to learn Torah, to be good citizens of His World.

My own interests are in the area of Defence, and I can tell you that the Constitution hasn’t been followed in the USA for 230 years in this regard, which by the way includes the 2nd Amendment. This had caused the USA to engage in wasteful conflicts, and loose most of them, since 1812, and also causes ~30K civilian casualties from privately owned firearms in the US.

Given the ‘strong military’ and ‘the right to carry arms’ are both conservative agendas, I doubt Levin is going to talk about how the Republican Party got these wrong.

“You shall not lie” in Torah is not just about lying, but also about not telling the truth, and withholding information that would lead someone to realise what the truth is.

You, as do most people, can’t do anything through praying. Praying as a concept is utterly misunderstood.

There are lots of things you can do on Shabbat without being mechalel Shabbat. What many people, including rabbis, forget is that the work forbidden on Shabbat is only that which was required for building the Mishkan, or bet HaMikdash. And, as HaZa”L says, “intention is everything”. If you are doing something which is not useful for building bet HaMikdash, and you are doing so without the intention of building one, its not asur.
Given that most people today wouldn’t know where to start on such a project, chances are there is NOTHING you can do to be mechalel Shabbat 🙂

    Don’t worry, be happy.
That is, don’t worry about anything that you can’t do anything about, and be happy with what you have.

Sleep is highly overrated as an expereince 🙂

I’m not one of his fans. However, many people I know listen to him and the only reason they are aware of the constitutional violations from this administration and how the law applies to the political class. In this way he is effective since the media is not informing anyone of anything. You are right. There is not much to learn from radio talk shows, with the exception of the people who listen to them. I get my information elsewhere. With the exception of Aaron Klein who is not anymore in the air. Neither do I like TV.
About getting antsy about an hour before the end of Shabbat.
Anyone who loves Israel would be restless. You can do so much
praying. Going to sleep is not an option. You can take your own advise and go to sleep. Sometimes I might fall asleep from exhaustion while sitting on a chair. You must have your own worries and I do have my own. You are probably too young to have grandchildren but I do. Anyway, I like your religious comments and you seem honest.

  3. What part of what he said was ‘effective’?
Personal criticism of a politician has the ‘effectiveness’ of “water off duck’s back”.
What did he say that sounded like strategy, or a goal?
There is this thing called constructive criticism. I didn’t hear any.
Who is that ‘great conservative hope’ to step up to the job?

Reagan has been dead for a while.

In any case, I rarely found anything worth hearing from a “talk show host”, and eventually just stopped listening.

The point I was making is that he didn’t acknowledge his Jewishness. Is he even halakhicly Jewish?

There is no obligation to keep Shabbat or kosher IF one is engaged in war, and we are as a People at war for our survival. Those who are NOT engaged in either physical or ‘spiritual’ combat, ARE obligated to keep Shabbat and kashrut.

New York has nothing to do with it.

Liberal Jews are scared more, and Orthodox are too incompetent to have adequate security until someone gets hurt or worse.

I don’t know what you get agitated over. Find an activity that fits your personality which doesn’t require doing anything you aren’t supposed to do, or just go to sleep early.

  4. @ mrg3105:
You are right but, he is effective. Many Jews in NY are like him. Not only do not keep Shabbat but kosher is a matter of convenience. Inconvenience is to go to Wassermann for meat instead of Aron’s Farms. I miss the kosher butchers we used to have. New York is a strange place. The most liberal shuls have the best security. Who knows what makes this town move.
I myself cannot keep Shabbat unless I’m with some friends downstairs on the second floor. If not, I get antsy towards the end of Shabbat.

  5. Good to see a fully assimilated descendant if Jewish immigrants speaking on Saturday morning
Pity he doesn’t know much about the battle of Trenton
If he was Jewish, he would be a disgrace and an insult to God

  6. @ dove:
I think Levin is very effective. His radio program is popular. I might not agree with him in every point but, he is affective. My favorite was the radio program on Sundays at 2PM eastern time Aaron Klein. He is truthful and can find things not one else can. His program in spite of his popularity was changed to Sunday evenings and since the hour was not a good time when people are busy with their lives.
I wish they will revive the program with Aaron Klein.
This was at least a good start.

  7. You can skip the intro on this and start listening about 9 min in. This is what I like to hear. An American challenging Obama. Only the American people can take back their country – no one else can do it for you.
