Report: In bid to save peace talks, US may free Pollard
There are many such reports out today.
While I have always argued that Pollard’s punishment was cruel and unusual punishment and that it was motivated by antisemitism, I am totally against Israel making any concessions or gestures to get him released.
Pollards case demands justice and his release. Nothing more is needed. He should be released because it is the just thing to do and not because we bought his release.

Me neither. Quite frankly, its time to call a spade a spade and let things be.

On his way to the gallows (my fantasy…)
Since Obama’s reelection I have been fantasizing. I kept telling my husband: Before his term is over, he is leaving the WH in handcuffs and shackles.
Since before his election in 2008 I knew this bastard was a communist. Some people had the audacity to tell me he could not do anything in the US because this is not a banana republic. We have Congress. Where? My answer “you do not know how creative the communists can be to perpetuate themselves in government and the extent of all the illegalities and corruption they are capable of doing. Total destruction of government as we know it. Checks and balances give ways to lying and stealing. The hard earned money from our taxpayers given to all kind of scum. Whenever you decide to check and think there is nothing else they can do to hurt you a new form of regulation or stealthy way of confiscating your money becomes law. By Executive Order over the weekends when our legislators are not working. I fear they have probably elected the next government without having an election. And wait, when they need someone to blame for the chaos and mismanagement they have created; of course, it is us the Jews. Who else?
May Hashem throw Obama and all his accomplices in a witches cauldron that empties in hell.
Thank you Bernard. I always enjoy your posts.

Who really wants Peace? I don’t.
We should not expect much from BHO, who doesn’t even honor the US Constitution. He has become a de facto “king”. Israel is the best friend US has in the Middle East. Hasn’t US benefited a lot from Israeli intelligence, researches, etc.? Putting Pollard in prison in the first place is wrong and injustice. He should be freed without any condition attached to it.
Although not directly related to the Pollard article here, this latest decision again brings attention to the fact that corruption should always be a priority consideration when evaluating US behavior. Chamish is more credible than the highest US officials regarding Pollard. I have witnessed individual cases of corruption at the level of Judges but the corruption involved here proves that the US gov, justice system and media are completely bought. Even judges and congressman are unable to initiate a proper investigation of what is obviously a serious question.

The only way Netanyahu can sell the final prisoner release to his Cabinet is if he gets a quid pro quo. Of course, Pollard would have to be released in advance since Netanyahu does not want to be left holding the bag if the Americans renege on it at the last moment and Israel is left humiliated again.
I’d rather Israel forego this. Selling out Israel’s national interests for Pollard’s freedom isn’t where Israel ought to go and Pollard will never agree to it. And the other part of the picture is American Middle East policy has descended to a desperate Weekend at Bernie’s moment.
Its trying to pretend the so-called peace process is alive when in fact its dead and nothing can be done to revive it. Israel can certainly prolong the charade by making more unilateral concessions but every one knows there will never be peace.

Thank you for your reply on the “big bang”, as usual you rose to the task. I am going to file it and send ALL OVER TEXAS to my creationistos friends.
Agree but; if BB is going to cave in any event might as well get Pollard. BB Has had a Myriad of chances to get Pollard every time he folded to Pressure from the Americans even before Obama. Except or including the Clinton episode Pollard was never demanded as a Quid pro quo for any concessions Israel gave to the Americans.
If you are going to give into to the American demands why not at the very least get Pollard?
I agree with you only if BB decides not to cave to Obama which is highly unlikely.
His extended imprisonment started before Obama but is very healthy under his aegis.
It is anti Semitism in its most disgusting form.
It is vindictiveness run wild.
It is the very antithesis of justice.
Macdonald is one of the multitude of very valid reasons why Canada’s national broadcaster, the CBC, should be broken up and its parts sold to private broadcasters.
Likely coordinated with all involved long ago.
US administration getting more and more disgusting by the day!
