How long before the ADL kicks out all its Jews?
By Ann Coulter, WND
[..] Liberal Jews seem to be blithely unaware that the singular threat to Jews at the moment is the complete annihilation of Israel. Why won’t they focus on the genuine threat of Islamo-fascism and leave poor old Robert Byrd alone?
The ADL goes around collecting statements from Democrats proclaiming their general support for Israel, but it refuses to criticize Democrats who attack Joe Lieberman for supporting the war and who tolerate the likes of former Rep. Cynthia McKinney.
Sure, Hillary will show up at an ADL dinner and announce that she supports Israel. And then she gets testy with Bush for talking about sanctions against Iran in too rough a tone of voice.
What does it mean for the ADL to collect those statements?
The survival of Israel is inextricably linked to the survival of the Republican Party and its evangelical base. And yet the ADL viciously attacks conservatives, implying that there is some genetic anti-Semitism among right-wingers to hide the fact that anti-Semites are the ADL’s best friends – the defeatists in Congress, the people who tried to drive Joe Lieberman from office, the hoodlums on college campuses who riot at any criticism of Muslim terrorists and identify Israel as an imperialist aggressor, and liberal college faculties calling for “anti-apartheid” boycotts of Israel.blockquote>
The Democratic Party sleeps with anti-Semites every night, but groups like the ADL love to play-act their bravery at battling ghosts, as if it’s the 1920s and they are still fighting quotas at Harvard.
Earlier this year, Rep. Virgil Goode Jr., R-Va., said, “In the next century, we will have many more Muslims in the United States if we do not adopt the strict immigration policies that I believe are necessary to preserve the values and beliefs traditional to the United States of America.”
The ADL attacked him, saying, “Bigots have always hid behind the immigration issue.”
Like the noose hysteria currently sweeping New York City, liberals are always fighting the last battle because the current battle is too frightening.
Liberal Jews are on a collision course with themselves. They can’t reconcile the survival of Israel with their conception of themselves as liberals. The liberal coalition has turned against them. Jews are out; Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is in. The new king knows not Joseph.
No she hasn’t. It’s just that you are quick to forgive conservatives. I don’t know why this site continues to promote this woman. She’s a clown. There are many other serious writers which would better suit Israpundit to have featured.
Shalom Ted,
I’m only responding to the posts.
She wrote “our case in a …strategic..”.
Suspicions have values. So, too, does knowledge. I live among and know Evangelicals in the US South. There has been – and still ongoing -a realignment. (Eg; Jimmy Carter is no longer a Southern Baptist. He joined the new Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.)
Let any danger alerts regarding the Evangelicals come from the Jewish South. We’re closer to the situation than Gamla. Note that the only Jewish Republican Member of the House of Representatives is from a Congresional District in part of Richmond, Virginia.
Air superiority over Gamla has a direct relation to Evangelical participation in American politics.
Rabbi Kanefsky is a religious Jew.
Kol tuv,
Provided Christian Zionists support Israel, not with a view to converting Jews now, but in the belief their efforts will hasten the day when Christian prophecy of the return of Jesus to this world and Jews will then accept Jesus, just what is the danger and alarm Jews should feel from reaching back to the hand extended by Christians and embrace them for their much needed support now?
South
You have Ellen Horowitz wrong. She is a religious Jew living in the Golan. She is suspicious of the evangelical embrace and continually sounds the alarm, of the dangers, as she see them, in such embrace.
Re the Ellen Horowitz comments;
Yes, let’s refine the level of debate.
American Jews are not “caught up in a partisan political nightmare”. She is.
Alan Dershowitz had agreed to assist re the appealate work for a British law firm appealing the conviction of Abdel Basset al Megrahi (Pan Am 103, Lockerbie).
Alan Dershowitz wrote the forward to Robert Rosen’s book “Saving the Jews”. Chapter 17 was titled “…,Palestinian Jewish Terrorists”. Look it up.
Dershowitz already jumped in bed.
“bringing them back” relates more to Ellen Horowitz. She’s joined the Episcopalians, at best.
Do we have a Jewish equivilant of Madam DeFarege’s scarf ?
Kol tuv,
Is Ellen Horowitz saying that Coulter and Horowitz epitomize all the voices that advocate their kind of views and perceptions as regards Israel and Jews in America and the world?
If Jews run from the views and perceptions of the Coulter’s and the Horowitz’s is it only because of their style?
What does Ellen Horowitz say as to what and who is it that these Jews who have taken flight, are running to? Are Jews drawn by liberal left style over conservative and right leaning substance?
And what is Ellen Horowitz wanting to bring Jews back to?
Ellen Horowitz asks, “Where are compassionate, secular, sane social Jewish activists supposed to go?” There is within that question room for contradiction. Social Jewish activists have often given a very great many good reason to question their sanity when it comes to taking stands that are actually contrary to the interests of American Jews and Israel.
If Ellen Horowitz made more of a statement regarding Coulter and Horowitz then is noted in post #3, let’s have all of it. If that’s all she wrote, I have great difficulty with what she has said to the extent she makes statements without clear if any explanation as if those are statements of fact rather then her opinion.
Ellen again
ADL AND THE MISSIONARY PROBLEM
a little history:
Back in 1998 Israel had an anti-missionary bill in the works, but received great pressure from the U.S. Goverment and evangelicals to cancel the measures.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) kicked in with a public statement expressing concern with regards to civil liberties and religious freedom in Israel. Foxman wrote to Netanyahu: “While we are concerned by efforts to convert Jews, we are also concerned by the implications such anti-missionary legislation would have on minority rights in Israel.”
Prime Minister Netanyahu responded with, “Let me assure you again that Israel will pass no laws which limit freedom of religion and contravene the international conventions to which it is a signatory.”

Ellen Horowitz comments
The uproar over Coulter will unfortunately continue, because over-the-top Christian nationalism in response to secular decadence is going to be the U.S. campaign issue. Many American Jews will be stupid about this and pursue it the wrong direction (the anti-semitic argument), which is why it is up to us to take the issue and refine the level of debate.
American Jews are caught in a partisan political nightmare. Where are compassionate, secular, sane social Jewish activists supposed to go? Can a Jew like Dershowitz jump in bed with Christian Republicans? Remember that most secular, Reform and Conservative Jews express whatever is left of their Jewishness via passionate, unchecked, social activism (hesed in the extreme). But we could sure use some of that energy and passion in our camp.
We should be reaching out to our Jewish brethren and bringing them back.
Now is the time! Our urgent case will have to be articulated in a sound, moral, responsible, strategic, and authentic manner. The style of David Horowitz and Ann Coulter alienate and cause many Jews to run in the other direction.
Style aside, Coulter makes some telling points.
While there is much to question and be concerned with in the Bush Administrations’ and the Republican party’s avowed support of Israel, there has been even greater reason in the minds of a great many, including myself to question and be concerned with the stances of the Democratic party and leaders of that party including Democratic Presidential administrations as regards Israel and Jewish issues in America.
As a general statement, there is little doubt that the majority of American Jews have traditionally gravitated towards the Democrats and have aligned with liberal and liberal left social ideologies. I believe it was James Baker III who in advising Pres. Bush Sr. to ignore the concerns of Israel and the Jews, said in effect ‘F#$k the Jews, they support the Democrats’.
Interestingly, in Canada the majority of Jews have traditionally supported the Liberal party and similarly aligned with liberal and liberal left thinking. The Liberal party however have been no true friend to Israel.
Coulter speaks of the survival of Israel being inextricably linked to the survival of the Republican party. Well that may be a bit of an overstatement in the sense that since 1967 when America became the primary financial backer of Israel, Israel’s fortunes have become inextricably linked to America regardless of what administration held power.
I would say however that to the extent that the American conservatives and Republican party measure up against the liberal left and the Democratic party in terms of support for Israel, the American Conservatives and Republican parties have the very clear edge.
As for Coulter’s charge that ADL have a greater affinity to the liberal left and the Democratic party candidates, then to the conservatives and Republican party, let the ADL answer that charge if ADL believes Coulter is wrong.
That the ADL felt it necessary to attack Dennis Prager as it did and her other references to ADL stances, is some good evidence to support the charges Coulter makes.
With a preface that I’m not impressed with Annie Oakley Coulter as a commentator; she’s a high-level entertainer, some of her points deserve highlighting.
When ADL was founded in 1913, its mission statement read “to secure justice and fair treatment to all citizens alike”. This is fair enough. It’s not a JEWISH organization although its roots had a Jewish connection.
ADL trades off the easily obtainable label “Jewish”.
Abraham Foxman earned a fortune in his efforts to obtain the Marc Rich pardon. This tarnished American Judaism…….with pending consequences.
Abraham Foxman sought a national Jewish meeting to challenge Focus on the Family and Family Research Council. Living in the American South offers a prospective as to what is pending… (Can’t say more)
Glance at all the old organizations like ADL – and their Jewish leaders. Joseph Proskauer of American Jewish Committee was AGAINST the establishment of Israel. Frankfurter, Bernard Baruch, Issac Mayer Wise and other famous Jewish names offered more than silence in the abandonment of European Jewry.
Fast forward to today again. Look at the organizations. Look at their “leaders”. Don’t blame the Arab barbarians. They were present even before Napolean arrived at Egypt. Don’t blame Bush & Co. In the last election 87% of Jews voted for the opposition. Political contributions also reflect an out of balance ratio.
Again, I’m not impressed with Coulter. She’s a media whore. Her comments on why former Senator Max Cleland lost his legs and arm during the Vietnam War were disgusting – and false. Her comments re if only Timothy McVeigh had not bombed the OKC Federal Bldg but instead the NY Times Bldg, were disgusting.
Yet, the New York Times Corp is no longer a Jewish newspaper.
If the Jews cannot plot out the political order of battle, they cannot prepare a plan of action.
As of now, anticipate another Shoah in the Middle East coupled to a thriving sex slave trade from the results.
The abandonment of Israel’s Jews mirrors what happened last time. The material is not too difficult to grasp. Even Coulter understands.
And I will tell you wonderous things
secrets you have not known
