THE THIRD DEBATE

My thoughts were:

Obama spoke wery well. He was convincing on his foreign policy less so on the economy. He kept disparaging Romney but this worked against him.

Romney played it safe. Basically he agreed with Obama on everything in his foreign policy but said he would have done it better or faster. Romney knew that the election didn’t depend on him articulating a better foreign policy so there was no upside for him in attempting to do so. He was at pains to show he was not a loose cannon or war monger. He was all about peace.

Romney kept mentioning words like “Jihadists” and “Islamic extremists”. Obama didn’t. Romney failed to mention the MB. He continues to stay away from that topic.

He obviously drove his strengths on the economy home where it counts. He also, to good effect, emphasized his ability to work across the aisle. He was targeting the independents.

Bottom line is that Obama failed to arrest Romney’s momentum and Romney succeeded in making himself more likeable and capable.

  1. @ yamit82:
Romney danced around the questions- avoiding giving a straight answer. Sure he is sincere about his religious beliefs but what kind of religion is it that has a history of excluding blacks because they are black.

Mitt is in my opinion a very slick snake oil salesman, a huckster, and a commercial shark having made millions doing the work of a vulture. In a word a GONIFF

  2. Correction: America itself isn’t totally doomed, but the American Dream and the Middle Class sure are

The “choice” between Romney and Obama resembles “The Emperor’s New Clothes”. We can see that the emperor is naked, has a big protruding gut, and a really small dick, but no one will say anything, for fear that the whole house of cards will topple.

Both Romney and Obama acknowledge that things can only get worse. But, in order to get elected, they both say to let the status quo continue for the current generation, and let the succeeding generations absorb all the pain and suffering.

So, this is what we are giving to our children: lower wages, increased unemployment, lower Social Security payouts, increased Medicare costs, higher taxes, higher gasoline costs, increased college tuition with no high-paying jobs to repay the cost, decreased home values, a Stock Market totally manipulated by insiders, with no chance for the little guy, and banks that charge you high fees but pay no interest in return. (And that’s just off the top of my head. Let me know what to add).

Now you might ask, why are Romney and Obama even running, knowing that everyone will be worse off four years from now. Well, Obama has already become a multi-millionaire who will never have to work again. And Romney is at least ten times richer than Obama.

For both of these jokers, it’s just a game. They are incredible egomaniacs, and they are just playing for a prize; namely, the title “President of the United States,” and neither has any real skin in the game. It ‘s just a version of the rich guy’s “He who dies with the most toys wins”.

To win the prize, Romney poses as “the great white hope”. He panders to the white christian conservatives, and promises to restore traditional America and the American Dream, knowing full well that they can never be restored. And Obama is “the great brown hope”. He promises unlimited, never-ending welfare to the blacks and latinos, while knowing that America is already bankrupt.

    It’s truly sad and pathetic.

  3. my last comment in moderation but I want to add that the source of the quote

Since 1975, practically all the gains in household income have gone to the top 20% of households.

is the CIA factbook/US economy. This fact has removed a lot of confidence and trust for me in the abilities motives and agenda of big business and the rich. Small business is rarely really facilitated by either party and is a political canard used by both.

  4. Samuel Fistel Said:

Obama stinks, but you still have to hold your nose to vote for Romney

    Arnold Harris Said:

The United States of America — having attained the acme of its power from 1945 through approximately 1969, has become weakened through loss of its industrial leadership of the world combined with growing dependence of its population to fiscal entitlements

These are the symptoms of the problem. Loss of industrial leadership is created by shipment of capital, jobs and production overseas. The loss is of both import replacing production and of loss of exports, taken over by Asia,to the world. This was done by the rich and big business pushing its agenda on all parties:
1- the public- you will get cheaper goods. This canard is now shown as a lie as the real costs are all now being paid by the taxpayer
    2-the democrats-globalization through one world
3-the republicans- free international trade is good for everybody and we are an exporting nation.
Next: “growing dependence of its population to fiscal entitlements”.

Since 1975, practically all the gains in household income have gone to the top 20% of households.

If big business cannot find a way to equitable distribute the gains of a society that reducing its labor needs from technological advancement then how will these gains be distributed. Will future economy consist of the super rich, the producing robots and unemployed poor? This is the model appearing to be offered.
Obama did not create the economic situation, big business and the rich did. Obama is just an installed puppet trying to maintain a crumbling disaster, and not succeeding. Does this mean that the reins should be given back to the creators of the disaster to lower their regulation, give them reduced tax and pray that those who shipped jobs out for 20 years will suddenly create jobs?Felix Quigley Said:

That is the key need to de-throne Obama. Obama must be defeated because Obama does not respect the great American Constitution. In my opinion the Democrats are very dangerous because they seek to destroy these great American traditions.

There is truth in this but let us not fool ourselves as we respond to puppets installed by puppeteers. The US economy is crumbling, Neither party can create the jobs or economy to change that slide. Over time the us population must adjust to lower living standards and are no longer required as a consumption engine fueling profits for the rich because the billions of asians will be the new consumption profit engine of the rich. This means avoiding and planning for civil strife. Obama is there to keep the blacks and ultra poor from revolting, hence necessity of increased entitlements. Those pulling the strings will operate the same regardless of party in power entitlements will be moved to employment of “civilian security forces”(therefore migating increased security costs). IN any case the public willl continue to be offered meaningless ideological extremes in an endless sham of “if you voted for this idiot wait till you see the next one you are going to vote for”. Smoke and mirror, give the suckers
    the phoenix Said:

in which there would be no democrats nor republicans…

this 2 party appearance is food for the suckers.
    yamit82 Said:

Romney succeeded in making himself more likable and capable.

that should be enough for the dumb voters as it was with obama
    Samuel Fistel Said:

But the one eternal truth will remain: the rich will get richer and the poor poorer.

Until people wake up and stop feeding on the fraudulent reality fed to them in the form of ideologies things will get worse. Ideologies are a tactic to obfuscate results. discussing ideologies and “principles” means there is no need to discuss results: (long term not 4 years)

  5. Phoenix

Thanks for your answer to my blog post. And you say:

“Could this Black Plague have lasted in office for the duration of the term with everything KNOWN about him?”

I called Obama a “plague” because around this man has been a plague of lies.

And he and his wife have used their blackness as a club against the American people.

You pose the possibility of a conspiracy and I definitely do not like this answer and I have run against conspiracy theorists and I do not like them.

Obama lasted and has not been exposed because of the Media. But are the Media in on some big conspiracy. I do not think so.

Exactly the same thing happened in Yugoslavia and in particular with Racak and Srebrenica. These like the event of Obama were key events and the media was central.

I place it somewhere else rather than a conspiracy. One of the places I place it is that there is a corruption in science and learning, and this was seen in that reporters stopped reporting facts, but began to issue reports based on emotion. The reporters like Maggie O’Kane were emoting with the Bosnian Muslims, and against the Serbs, and then built their reports around the accounts given to her by one side only, the Muslims of Bosnia.

It was no conspiracy. Millions were involved. It represented the extreme crisis in bourgeois method and knowledge, itself a reflection of an historical period of deepening crisis.

But also although I like your points you leave out the key factor and that is leadership.

The left AS IT EXISTS today is totally corrupt also and is part of the above.

The Jewish people also are in deep crisis in every way, and if I was to pick out one thing, it is that Barak who was such a traitor to the Jews in Camp David is still in there in power, as is Peres. And simply building settlements while the Yesha Council which sold out so viciously in Gaza is still unchallenged evades the issue of leadership.

Samuel is right on Romney but it leaves a little vague a central question. That is the key need to de-throne Obama. Obama must be defeated because Obama does not respect the great American Constitution. In my opinion the Democrats are very dangerous because they seek to destroy these great American traditions. I and my organization call in the most unambiguous way for Americans to kick out Obama and to vote for Romney. It is the same as I called for Mubarak to be victorious over the “Sand Monkey” type bloggers who were really the cover for the fascist Muslim Brotherhood. In great issues it is very wrong to sit on the fence.

  7. All imperia throughout history ultimately were doomed. They began with fresh bright bold dreams, achieve independence, grow in power, becomes the overlords of their era, then begin decaying from inevitable internal weaknesses, the foolishness of their leaders or a combination of easily-imagined factors, then sink into the back pages of history.

The United States of America — having attained the acme of its power from 1945 through approximately 1969, has become weakened through loss of its industrial leadership of the world combined with growing dependence of its population to fiscal entitlements familiar to everyone who has watched videotapes of street riots in Athens, Paris, Madrid or other capitals of once-powerful but not third-rate powers whose populations have now longer agree to work hard and productively for a living, and/or whose opportunities to do so are diminished by investment capital fleeing from their country.

The future is always in the hands of those ready and willing to work, rather than wait for hand-outs. At least until they and their societies jointly lose what was once referred to as the Protestant work ethic of America. But the Protestants of modern America, to no small degree, now spend their time listening to sermons preached by supporters of homosexual marriages, multiculturalism, accomodationism to Jihadist Islam conjoined with anti-semitism in its newer guises, and the rest of the poisonous hodgepodge of modern liberalism.

God bless America, indeed. But I am no longer certain that He does, having suffered so many disappointments with a pampered society that proved to be an overly-spoiled brat.

  8. Didn’t watch the debate. I was watching my friend, a professor of linguistics at Columbia University, busy at work transcribing Noc’s speech. You know Noc, the talking beluga whale? It’s been all over the web.
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2221405/Incredible-audio-reveals-white-whale-trying-make-contact-humans.html
Then suddenly my friend turned to me. OH NOOO! he exclaimed, his face an expression of pure anguish. Warn that beluga! Warn that beluga now! As soon as the FBI and the Secret Service get wind of this, they’ll be on his tail to silence him!

    OH NOOOO!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuyxYKVJRBs

What did the beluga say? I asked.
He is disclosing some truly devastating information about the present US administration, said my friend.
Big deal, I yawned. There’s been nothing but that for the past four years. No effect on the public yet.
This is different, said the professor. Warn that beluga and take it to a safe house. Now!

  9. Obama stinks, but you still have to hold your nose to vote for Romney:

Not too long ago, America still had some money. The election for President was between two candidates: one wanted to spend the money one way, and the second in some other way. The voters then decided.

Now, America is broke. We can never pay back the debts we have accumulated without inflating our money supply (the slogans of “creating high-paying jobs”, and “eliminating debt through growth”, are both outright lies). And we now even have to borrow all the money we spend on our military.

In this election, the Republicans want to spend a little less, and tax a little less. And they brag how they want to tax the filthy-rich the least of all. The Democrats want to spend a lot more and tax a bit more.

This election campaign has been putrid. Both Romney and Obama are terrified to tell us how bad the economy is, and how bad our future prospects are. They both live in a dream world where America can supposedly still influence muslims, Russia, and China. Illegal latino immigration has not been mentioned at all. Since the election hinges on a small number of “swing voters”, including a few latinos, Romney, who supposedly opposes unlimited illegal immigration, is silent on the matter for fear of losing a few crucial undecided votes. Similarly, Obama, who is strongly in favor of illegal immigration for all except whites, has the latino vote locked up, and also does not want to upset the undecided white voters.

Romney proudly says he will never raise taxes on the filthy rich. He made his own fortune after America had shipped many of its factories to China. The factories remaining in America were going out of business, because it was simply impossible to compete with China. Romney saw this. When the value of the failing American factories became less than the combined value of their machinery and land, he bought the factories for cheap, fired the workers, and made a huge profit selling the machinery to China, and the land to developers.

Last year, without lifting a finger, he made 20 million dollars. He paid 14% in taxes. If you make $100,000 a year, which is still considered a “good” income in America, you would have to work non-stop for 200 years to make as much as Romney did in one single year. And your tax rate would be double his. This is obscene.

Conclusion: America is doomed. The super-rich now own America. They are so rich that they can afford to buy off both the Democrats and Republicans simultaneously, and never even miss the money it costs them. If the Republicans win, America will reach bottom a little bit later, and if the Democrats win, a little sooner. But the one eternal truth will remain: the rich will get richer and the poor poorer.

Hey: I’m Samuel Fistel. And I approve this message.

  10. Come on Ted. Obama said “Israel” so many times that he must have really bad internal polls. For one moment, Israel suddenly became America’s “greatest ally” in the region.
But, is Jerusalem now the capital of America’s greatest ally?

Did you see the debate sponsored by the Children of Jewish Holocaust Survivors in Los Angeles last week?
THAT was a debate. It ran on cable here over the weekend, and I assume CJHCLA will soon post it to their website.

Not a good strategy in view of the fact that Obama’s foreign policy has been catastrophic. As to war mongering, islam is at war with us whether we choose to acknowledge this and fight them or not. For those that oppose war, our enemies will not stop trying to kill us just because we retreat.

And with regards to Iran, polls show that most Americans favor a military strike to stop it from gaining nuclear weapons. So I don’t think this position would hurt Romney if he were to come out favoring a preemptive attack on Iran.

Of course most commentators here are claiming Obama won the debate. But it is to be expected they would declare him the victor short of Obama’s performance being a complete disaster as he was in the first debate. With that one, they could not avoid the truth.

  12. @ Arnold Harris:

There have been faked or carefully arranged truces between Israel and a couple of Arab states, organized in wooded presidential settings with handshakes for the photographers. But all of these staged plays fall apart when the Arab street mobs take control of their own governments

without a doubt, this is something that stevie wonder would see very clearly.

No compromise is possible in a clash of civilizations.

once again, mr. harris, you have spoken the plain truth.

  13. Here in the USA, this election is prioritized overwhelmingly on the state of the US economy. Not on abortion. Not on rights to own or carry firearms. Not on rights of the public employee unions vs the taxpayers who pay their way. Not on environmental protection. And not on foreign policy, with exceptions of the perceived need to make sure Americans — including American diplomats — are not killed in Arab cities, and of the equally perceived need to protect Israel.

Therefore, if Obama loses the election to Romney, the most important factor will be perceptions of American voters that the current president has failed establish policies that will restore something close to full employment, stop the floodtide of growing national debt, and avoid raising taxes to pay for all of the above.

The time has come for most Israelis to understand the need for the Jewish state to grow its own power base on an expanded national territory. There have been faked or carefully arranged truces between Israel and a couple of Arab states, organized in wooded presidential settings with handshakes for the photographers. But all of these staged plays fall apart when the Arab street mobs take control of their own governments, as in Egypt. The same will happen one day in Trans-Jordan, whose little English king will be driven back to his true Atlantic island home. The Jewish nation in Israel can have peace solely by conquering it. No compromise is possible in a clash of civilizations. The one prevails over the other in any given local, and drives it out. Act accordingly if you would save Israel.

  14. @ Felix Quigley:
    Dear Felix,
    From your blog:

but what I am sure of is that Romney gave up the fight against Obama in this Third Debate

It is not so much that he ‘gave up’….it’s that there was no fight from the get go! ….as in this whole friggin’ thing is PREARRANGED!!!
the “black plague”, as you have rightly defined it, is just a puppet on a string pulled by extremely powerful forces working towards the establishment of the new world order in which there would be no democrats nor republicans…
Could this Black Plague have lasted in office for the duration of the term with everything KNOWN about him?
Romney = John Mc Cain = 2008 all over…. It is all a show with a very well known end result.
Meanwhile, on the ‘obama-iran’thread, dweller mentions

In just the past six months FEMA has ordered 102,000 boxcars with shackles.

Several federal agencies — among them Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SOCIAL SECURITY, for heaven’s sake!!!) — have recently ordered many hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammunition

…so, yeah! I am afraid that there WILL be 4 more years of Black Plague, and in the unlikely event that somehow there would be enough of those that hope for a change when voting for Romney,….there will be a civil war and a blood bath like we haven’t seen yet.
I hope to god I am wrong.

  15. He kept disparaging Romney but this worked against him.

His base loved it, (get out the vote) Many sitting on the fence might be impressed, with Romney’s lack of any strong response.

Romney played it safe. Basically he agreed with Obama on everything in his foreign policy but said he would have done it better or faster.

Do Americans want a play it safe President? By agreeing with Obama, he did not give any undecided voter a reason to consider a change.

Romney knew that the election didn’t depend on him articulating a better foreign policy so there was no upside for him in attempting to do so. He was at pains to show he was not a loose cannon or war monger. He was all about peace.

By allowing the Obama campaign to dictate the agenda he will depend only on perceptions and his ability to counter-punch. In this debate he didn’t even to try to counter-punch with any force. His rebuttals were timid and short of landing on the mark.

To use a football analogy he seemed to be trying to run out the clock without any last min. fumbles. Sometimes works others fail. Playingit safe is when you really are trying to protect a narrow lead. Does he really have a narrow lead in fact to protect?

Bottom line is that Obama failed to arrest Romney’s momentum and Romney succeeded in making himself more likeable and capable.

The polls will substantiate your opinion or not in the coming days. I am not convinced you are correct.

IMO all Romney needed to say was. Mr. President what is the Capital of Israel?
