Two weeks ago, US Congressman Joe Walsh published an op-ed in the The Washington Times in which he called for the US and Israel to abandon the two-state solution.
After running through the record of Palestinian duplicity, failed governance, terrorism and bad faith, he called for Israel to apply its sovereignty to Judea and Samaria. In his words, Israel should “adopt the only solution that will bring true peace to the Middle East: a single Israeli state from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. Israel is the only country in the region dedicated to peace and the only power capable of stable, just and democratic government in the region.”
The evidence that the two-state paradigm has failed is overwhelming. The Palestinians’ decision to reject statehood at Camp David in 2000 and launch a terror war against Israel made clear that they had not abandoned their refusal from 1947 to accept partition of the Land of Israel with the Jews.
So, too, the Palestinians’ election of Hamas in the 2006 elections, and their missile war against Israel from Gaza in the aftermath of Israel’s complete withdrawal from Gaza in 2005, all made clear that they are not interested in a Palestinian state. Rather, their chief desire is Israel’s annihilation.
Consequentially, there is no chance whatsoever that the two state paradigm can work.
Indeed, the fact that there is no Palestinian leader willing to recognize Israel’s right to exist makes clear that if a Palestinian state is established in Judea and Samaria – in addition to the de facto Palestinian state in Gaza – that state will be in state of war with Israel. All territory under its control will be used to attack the rump Jewish state.
Given the abject failure of the two-state paradigm, it is abundantly clear that for all the complications that may be associated with the application of Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, it is a better option for Israel than Israeli surrender of the areas.
Walsh’s op-ed is not his first statement of support for Israeli annexation. Last September, ahead of the UN general assembly, Walsh authored Congressional Resolution 394 supporting Israel’s right to annex Judea and Samaria in the event that the Palestinians asked the UN to recognize a Palestinian state outside the framework of a peace treaty with Israel. Forty-four other congressmen co-sponsored the resolution.
And this makes sense.
The Palestinians’ decision to turn the issue of Palestinian statehood over to the UN constituted a substantive breach of the treaties the PLO signed with Israel. Those agreements stipulated that both sides agreed that their conflict would be solved through negotiations and not through unilateral actions. By ending negotiations with Israel and turning the issue of statehood over to the UN, the Palestinians canceled their treaties with Israel. Consequently, Israel is no longer bound by those accords and is free to take its own unilateral actions, including applying its laws to Judea and Samaria as it did in Jerusalem and the Golan Heights in the past.
FOR HIS unstinting support for Israel, Walsh has been subject to an unbridled assault by leftist American Jews. Ron Kampeas from JTA, for instance, attacked Walsh, accusing him of being no different than Israel’s enemies who seek to destroy Israel by ending its ability to define itself as a Jewish state through what they refer to as the “one-state solution.”
Kampeas blasted Walsh for suggesting that Palestinians unwilling to live under Israeli rule could move to Jordan which, with its 75-percent Palestinian majority, is effectively the Palestinian state. To back up his condemnation, Kampeas quoted Robert Wright’s excoriation of Walsh in The Atlantic.
There Wright wrote, “Offhand, I don’t recall a member of Congress in my lifetime saying anything so grotesquely at odds with American ideals about ethnic relations and for that matter basic human rights.”
For its part, the Jewish-run anti-Israel lobby J Street is mobilizing its supporters to bring about Walsh’s defeat in the November elections by soliciting contributions to his Democratic challenger. J Street executive director Jeremy Ben-Ami wrote that “Walsh’s prescription amounts to a call for an end to Israel as the democratic home of the Jewish people.”
It is hard to know where to begin a discussion of this assault in which Jewish Americans attacked one of Israel’s strongest supporters simply because he had the temerity to recognize reality and call for the US to support an Israeli victory against our enemies who seek our destruction.
First, it is important to consider the claim that Walsh went against the grain of American ideals by suggesting, “Those Palestinians who wish to may leave their Fatah- and Hamas-created slums and move to the original Palestinian state: Jordan. The British Mandate for Palestine created Jordan as the country for the Palestinians. That is the only justification for its creation. Even now, 75% of its population is of Palestinian descent.”
The fact of the matter is that the two-state paradigm rests on the assumption that the Palestinian state will be ethnically cleansed of Jews before it is established. Whereas Walsh somehow stands in opposition to American ideals for suggesting that the Palestinians may voluntarily immigrate to Jordan, Kampeas, Ben- Ami and their cohorts have no problem with the concept of a Jew-free Palestine and the forcible expulsion of up to 675,000 Jews from their homes in Judea, Samaria and eastern Jerusalem simply because they are Jewish.
Aside from their pernicious hypocrisy and moral blindness, what stands out in their assaults on Walsh is that they cannot tell the difference between Israel’s enemies that seek its destruction through the so-called one-state solution, and Israel’s friends, who want it to defeat its enemies and live with security and peace. For the likes of Kampeas and Ben-Ami, there is no difference between Walsh and Israel’s worst enemies.
PART OF this problem is their apparent unquestioning acceptance of the myth of a demographic time bomb. They seem not to have noticed that the Palestinian claim that by 2015 there will be an Arab majority west of the Jordan River is a complete fabrication.
The truth is that if Israel applied its laws to Judea and Samaria tomorrow and all the Palestinians in those areas received Israeli citizenship, Israel would still retain a two-thirds Jewish majority. Moreover, all the demographic trends for Israel, including increasing birthrates and positive immigration rates, are positive. And all the demographic trends for the Palestinians, including decreasing birthrates and negative immigration rates, are negative. According to Israeli demographic researcher Yoram Ettinger, by 2030, Jewish will likely comprise 80% of the population of Israel, Judea and Samaria.
So Ben-Ami’s argument that Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria means the end of Israeli democracy is simply incorrect.
But aside from their hypocrisy and refusal to accept simple arithmetic realities, what stands out most clearly in these leftist American Jews’ assault on Walsh is how they have become addicted to the fable of the two-state solution. Their addiction to this fable – that argues that after a century of Palestinian devotion to the annihilation of Israel, the Palestinians are suddenly willing to meet Israel halfway – is what propels these Jewish activists to attack anyone who points out reality. It is what drives them to brand as a foe anyone with the temerity to suggest a better way forward.
The beauty of the two-state fable is that it puts the onus to make peace on Israel’s shoulders.
If it is true that the Palestinians want to make peace, then Israel must make peace. And if all the Palestinians require to make peace is for Israel to quit Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem, then that is what Israel must do, together with the 675,000 Jews who live there.
The real tragedy is of course not that the likes of Kampeas and Ben-Ami maintain faith with the fairy tale of Palestinian willingness to live at peace with Israel. The real tragedy is that this myth has been the official policy of the government of Israel for the past 19 years. Since then prime minister Yitzhak Rabin launched the peace process with Yasser Arafat in September 1993, to greater or lesser degrees, every Israeli government has kept faith with the two-state solution lie.
It hasn’t mattered that the Palestinians rejected statehood and peace not once, but twice. It hasn’t mattered that the Palestinians received Gaza lock, stock and barrel with no strings attached and used the territory to launch an illegal missile war against Israeli civilians. The fact that both Arafat and his supposedly moderate successor Mahmoud Abbas rejected partition and maintained their devotion to Israel’s destruction did not stop Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu from bowing to US pressure and embracing this fool’s game.
People like Kampeas are the first to bemoan Israel’s sorry state in the realm of public diplomacy. They decry Israel’s hasbara efforts as pathetic and failed. But what they fail to acknowledge is that it is the two-state trap that makes the construction and execution of an effective public diplomacy strategy impossible.
To maintain faith with this failed policy, Israel’s leaders and representatives are not merely required to ignore the history of the past 90 years of Palestinian rejection and aggression.
They are required to ignore current events.
They are forced to ignore not just what happened in 1947, but what happened at 7 o’clock in the morning.
And this brings us back to Rep. Walsh. There may be things to criticize about Walsh’s policy argument. For instance, he calls for the conferral of “limited voting power” on the Palestinians under Israeli sovereignty. In truth, there is no reason for them to receive anything but full voting rights.
But you have to be blind to reality to view him as anything other than a friend of Israel.
Happily, not everyone in Israel remains paralyzed. Members of Knesset have launched repeated attempts in recent months to debate legislation calling for Israel to apply its sovereignty over all or parts of Judea and Samaria. Next Wednesday, MK Miri Regev is holding a conference to launch a new Knesset caucus calling for the adoption of this policy.
IN RECENT years, poll after poll has shown that the majority of Israelis do not believe that the two-state paradigm will bring peace or that if a Palestinian state is formed, it will live at peace with Israel.
And yet, because of the choke-hold that Kampeas and Ben-Ami’s Israeli counterparts have held over the national discourse, the Israeli people have been given no other option to consider. Rather, we have been told over and over again that giving our enemies a veto over our rights, land and security is the only alternative.
Walsh and the 44 congressmen who co-sponsored his resolution are Israel’s friends. We should take heart in their willingness to buck consensus and support us. And we should give careful and responsible consideration to their reasonable and supportive policy recommendations.

In 1924, the U.S. Congress passed the Johnson Reed Act ( mimicked the British Aliens Act 1904) which severely restricted the flow of immigrants from Eastern Europe ( was mostly an anti Jewish immigration act). These restrictions remained in force throughout the Holocaust, having grave implications for European Jewry in desperate need of sanctuary.
The British through the White Paper of 1939 doomed the Jews of Europe to their fate under the Nazis.
The year 1938 was a chilling year. That year took place the Anschluss of Austria, the Evian Conference, the Munich Agreement, and Krystallnacht. The Evian Conference was one of the most significant conferences of all times concerning the Jewish people. Evian Conference, held 6 to 15 of July 1938, “called at F.D.R.’s initiative after Hitler’s march into Austria, to find a suitable solution to the German and Austrian refugee problem”. Note that Jews are not mentioned at all! FDR reacting to Jewish pressure after reports in the NYT and other news sources printed stories of German persecutions and restrictions against the Jews of Germany and Austria, announced the international conference to discuss how to help the Jews under German rule and law to be held at Evian France ten days after Hitler took control of Austria.

On July 6, the Conference opened. Its declared purpose was to seek a solution to the problem of the refugees who wished to leave Germany. Thirty-two nations participated. Some responses by the nations delegates:
Australia, with vast, unpopulated areas, announced: “As we have no real racial problem, we are not desirous of importing one.”
France stressed that it had reached a saturation point.
The Peruvian delegate pointedly remarked that the United States had given his country an example of “caution and wisdom” by its own immigration restrictions.
Central American states issued a joint statement saying that they could accept no “traders and intellectuals”.
Brazil said that every visa application would have to be accompanied by a certificate of Christian Baptism.
Canada was prepared to accept only experienced agricultural workers.
Britain, while prepared to accept Jewish children (some 9,000 eventually arrived), was not willing to accept their parents, because “a sudden rush of Jewish refugees might arouse anti- Semitic feelings”.
The United States would not go beyond its usual annual German immigration quota of 25,957 – although it had allowed only a total of 27,000 German Jews to enter in the six years between Hitler’s rise to power and the Evian Conference. Inexplicably, the US Government demanded of the Jews desiring to migrate to the United States certificates of good conduct from the German police, a cruel and inhuman demand, in the full knowledge that the Germans at the time viewed the Jews worse than vermin.
The Swiss representative, Dr. Heinrich Rothmund, spoke about the threatening refugee inundation of Switzerland. Three or four thousand Jewish refugees had already crossed the frontiers. Rothmund reported. “Switzerland, which has as little use for these Jews as Germany has, will herself take measures to protect Switzerland from being swamped by the Jews”, he declared. As a result of the Swiss stand, the Conference, whose avowed purpose was to help Jewish refugees, had a disastrous consequence. All German passports of Jews were henceforth stamped by a large red “J”, further curtailing the already limited Jewish freedom to travel.
When Nazi observers at the Conference returned to Berlin they told Hitler: “You can do what you like with the Jews, nobody is interested in them”.
Evian was a definite turning point in modern Jewish history. By the time the Conference took place, the Nazis had persecuted the Jews for six years. There were economic boycotts. There were book-burnings. Jews were deprived of their wealth and financial security. They were
fired from their jobs. They were declared second-class citizens with dubious protection by law. They were forbidden to sit, shop, and visit in certain places, to employ Christians and associate with them. There were physical harassments and occasional attacks. But there were no mass-deportations and large-scale brutal assaults on a country-wide basis against Jewish residents. These began after Evian.
The British White paper closed the last possible escape for European Jewry with the consent and Support of FDR. A million or two addition Jews in Palestine not only would have saved the lives of those Jews but they would have changed the course of history of Israel and even possibly have prevented our wars but if not certainly their results.
I should mention that I posted the article by Walsh 2 weeks ago. I then called his office and they confirmed that the content of his article came from the posts of Mudar and me on American Thinker.

Gee, CuriousAmerican, your ignorance and lack of history is appalling. I will not speak to the Christians, British or Russians, but I can speak about us Americans.
I will give you some examples of the top of my head, to show that my American governments has greatly exacerbated the problems in Israel.
First, lets visit 1979, when President Carter did not support the Shah of Iran. Out walked the Shah, in walked Ayatollah Khomeini, and now we have the Iranian bomb crisis. Thank you President Carter.
Then we have the Olso Accords in 1993 presided over by President Clinton. This was an agreement between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization. In it, all outstanding “final status issues” between the two sides would be addressed and resolved. We see how well that has worked out. The Israelis are constantly beat over the head with the so-called agreements, while the muslims have broken them time and time again. But we were so sure back then that peace would reign. Thank you President Clinton.
Then we move up to 2005, where Ariel Sharon, backed aggressively by President Bush, removed all Israelis from Gaza. President Bush, against all good advise, also pushed for ‘democratic’ elections. President Bush pushed for these elections because he believed in American democracy for all. What he got instead, was democracy, islamic style. One vote, one time for one islamic group. Since then, Israel has had to deal with daily rocket fire. The count should be upwards of 30,000 rockets by now. To add insult to injury, we have forced the Israelis to feed and cloth these adherents to the ‘religion of peace’. Thank you, President Bush.
Now let us move up to the present. We have President Obama removing Hosni Mubarak from Egypt. Now Egypt wants to break the Peace Treaty forced on them and Israel by President Carter back in 1979. But that is okay, Israel does not mind another hostile neighbor. We also have President Obama actively supporting the muslims while mouthing platitudes to the Israelis. This has produced a stalemate, but no peace. This stalemate is arguably the only good thing President Obama has done. Thank you President Obama.
Then there is the famous ‘aid’ given to Israel. The big string attached to this ‘aid’ was that Israel not develop her own airplane industry, but buy from American. This worked well enough and kept the American airplane industry afloat, until President Obama stuck his oar in and decided to deny the Israelis key airplanes that were necessary for defense and offense. The agreement also demanded that the Israelis buy spare airplane parts from American, setting up the absurd scenario that Israel would have to have FedEx delivering much needed parts in times of war. I am sure that FedEx would have no problem landing in Ben Gurion International Airport when it was under attack.
If Israel had been free to develop her own airplane industry, it would be up and running by now. American presidents knew that and decided that our defense industry was more important. Keep Israel dependent and they would have a good customer for many years to come.
Time and time again our American administrations have forced Israel to make bad policies. Left alone, with our unconditional support, the Israelis could have managed just fine. We owe the Israelis a great big apology. If giving them money can repair some of the damage we have done, then we should do it. Because, yes, CuriousAmerican, we were and are greatly responsible for Israelis woes. I hope one day they can forgive us.

The Arabs would say we created the problem by voting to parition Israel instead of voting for a one-state non Jewish democratic entity. (Which would have had Jews and Christians outnumbering Muslims).
Israel is going to have to pay.
As for the British, you might have a case against them, but only indirectly. They did not put the Arabs there either.

That’s exactly my recommendation made in 2002 when I returned from Israel after serving as a volunteer in the IDF in the Sar El program. How we have gone on so long without the majoriy of Israelis saying this is what makes me concerned about the survival of Israel

You Christian British, Americans and Russians created the problem pay to solve it. I would prefer to do it with tanks but it’s the results that count and I am not that dogmatic on this issue as long as they go i really don’t care where or how even though were it up to me I do have my own preferences on method and destinations.
I don’t think a million or so Christian converts will make much difference in the grand scheme of things. Islam in most countries is leaving Christians in their dust in terms of growth. South America seems to be the lone exception but that to will pass.

Call it what you want the world and most Israelis stood by, even cheered when I was ethnically cleansed and later when those good folks in Gush Katif and Nothern Shomron were ethnically cleansed. The Jews are alone in the world. If Israel survives, it will be solely because of Jewish efforts. And Jewish resources. Yet at this moment Israel is our only reliable and unconditional ally. We can rely more on Israel than Israel can rely on us. And one has only to imagine what would have happened last summer had the Arabs and their Russian backers won the war to realize how vital the survival of Israel is toAmerica and the West in general.
I have a premonition that will not leave me; as it goes with Israel so will it go with all of us. Should Israel perish the holocaust will be upon us.
Ethnic cleansing?!
Why not do what I suggested? Encourage the young, especially the women to leave for South America with a passport and money. Better than forcible expulsion.
As for the Old Palies … I agree … they are harmless and can be let die off.
Don’t need to deport them just forcefully encourage them to leave. Tens of thousands leave every year already and they all mange to find someone to let them in. One way is for Israel to stop tax transfer payments. The original Paris agreements have long expired and are paid mostly do to political pressure by Uncle Laban and the Nazi EU. We get a good part back when they purchase Israeli goods with the money, unfortunately most of the Tax transfers find their way into the Swiss bank accts of leading Pali crooks.
When you have over 50% unemployment of their youth under 30 and college grads can’t find a job some leave just for the work. GET RID OF THEIR YOUTH AND ESPECIALLY THE MOST EDUCATED AND THEIR SOCIETY WILL COLLAPSE BEFORE IT GETS STARTED. Usually old Palis don’t become terrorists and we just have to wait for them to die off without replacements. There are more ways to apply pressure for them to leave then there are programs to enable them to stay put. In the end whoever has the tanks has the last word.
Personally I would see them relocate to any country except Jordan.
Truth used to be a synonym for indisputable facts. No longer. Truth today, when spoken of in the context of highly charged emotional issues such as Israel, the Palestinians and the 2 state solution, is malleable.
Walsh, has tried to return to yesteryear to raise indisputable facts and state an incontrovertible conclusion.
Robin Wright, Jeremy Ben Ami, Ron Kampeas representing the mob of malleable truthers however,spoke their truths, constructed either on on a foundation of cherry picked facts or irrespective of all indisputable facts pertaining to the issue of the 2 state solution.
For the large majority of Americans and indeed, the large majority of Jewish Americans, their truth is that the 2 state solution is the only solution. This majority assert in support of their truth, another of their truths as if it were a self evident indisuptable facts, that Israel’s occupation of J & S and the perjoratively labeled settlements are illegal at international law.
Though this large majority would not admit it, they are advancing their truths, without bothering to make any reasoned fact based case for same on the principle “might makes right”.
The small minority that hew only indisputable facts to incontrovertibly conclude the 2 state solution, not only is dead but should never have been will have to find ways to swell their ranks before they can make any real dent in the truths the supporters of the 2 state solution hold as an article of faith, not reason to be dear and self evident truth.
Where will you kick them out to?

If we are going to expose the two-state solution lie, then we need expose some other lies that go along with it.
Many Israelis seem to think that their only choices are either a state of ‘Palestine’ without any Jews or that the muslims need to be integrated into Israeli society. Why think so small? Muslims are not going to become nonviolent, no matter what you give them. Giving them a state or giving them Israeli citizenship will not suddenly make them peaceful because they do not want to be peaceful. Gaza made that painfully clear.
Israel has allowed the muslim leaders to agitate for years and all this indoctrination cannot be suddenly turned off. The muslim problem is not going to suddenly go away when Israel annexes Judea and Samaria.
The only solution is to kick the muslims out lock, stock and barrel. Rather than having Israel deal with thorny, difficult problems in the foreseeable future, just eliminate the problem in its entirety. Think of how many Jewish lives would be saved, how much money would be saved, how much grief would be avoided.
France kicked out the Roma Gypsies, the liberals screamed bloody murder, but they could not keep the momentum up when it became a fait accompli. And so it will go with the muslims and their supporters. When they are gone, and no longer have access to a thousand microphones, no longer can get free publicity, can no longer can agitate, can no longer be used as a weapon to bludgeon Israel over the head, the liberals will move on and find another pet project. The foreign NGO’s will no longer have a cause to push and the whole muslim issue would become yesterday’s news.
The Saudi’s will not even let Jews off an airplane in their country. Why not take a page from their book? It would not make us evil, just practical. They do not want us subverting them, we do not want them subverting us.
The truth is, this is not just a solution for Israel, but should be done in every free country. The muslims was shariah law, let them go to countries that practice it. Those that want freedom and democracy should not have to fight a continuous low level war over such basic principles. A war, I might add, that we are all losing.
This should apply to all muslims, whether they are citizens or not. Just because the United Nations have designated some muslims permanent refugee status does not mean that Israel needs to be bound by their dictates. Who cares if they are permanent refugees as long as they do it somewhere else.
We need to get on with our lives and the muslims should get on with theirs. What has been proven countless times is that we cannot do it together.
For those of you that think that this is an impossible solution, consider this: it used to be impossible to keep food cold or frozen in the summer. It used to be impossible to travel over twenty miles an hour. It used to be impossible to fly. It used to be impossible for people to talk to someone on the other side of the world in real time. It used to be impossible to have someone else’s heart. It used to be impossible to kill millions with a single weapon. We dreamed big then, we should dream big now.

There is no such thing as Arab refugees. They are essentially stateless, after 3 generations nobody retains refugee status. They are now the sole problem of the countries where they reside and the world community if they want to aid in their assimilation and proper resettlement. They will never be allowed into Y&S either by Israel or g-d forbid the PA. They are not welcome by the Arabs either. They don’t need more poor and more criminals and they don’t want to share what they have with them either. The Arabs in Y&S are very Israelized and light years ahead of the descendents of the original refugees.

South Sudan is a recognized new nation and refugees from that country can be returned. Fact is most African are not refugees but Africans seeking a better material life. Their lives are not endangered if they return.
Keeping them here is more expensive than shipping them back to their countries of origin. We should take the costs from transfer payments to the PA.

With Word Press, you can keep archives for years. Your site, Israel Pundit, is a Word Press site. I know, because I web design using Word Press for Charities for free. Usually for churches.

Word Press is amazing. I write my own themes for Word Press.
The problem is that most people do not keep the site updated with the newest version of Word Press (which can be done automatically).
Hackers troll for older version of Word Press, take them down.
Women in Green used to have a nice Word Press site, but it was let go.
The other mistake is that they don’t backup the site regulary. I use the Plugin WP-DBManager which is amazing.
The third problem is they get the wrong host. Hostgator is wonderful. GoDaddy is terrible. GoDaddy is prone to hackers and the mail functions do not work.

It’s been obvious that just building in Yesha does not guarantee anything. Jewish Communities in Sinai and Gaza were demolished by the Israeli government regardless of their success.
This is a first step in the right direction.
Coalition MKs have been a huge disappointment until now – but then, there was no effective pressure on them to stand up for Israel’s right to extend sovereignty over Yesha.
MKs voted against a National Union bill for sovereignty over Yesha in February 2011.
And the Cabinet voted against a similar bill just recently.
Such behavior should be unacceptable and unforgivable.
up to this point, it sounds like a ‘go’. did i miss something here….what, pray tell, shall we do with all those refugees that would love to stream back to ‘greater israel’?… do we put them in the equation?? will the balance shift now??
