If it looks like a duck….

NETANYAHU’S LIGHTER SIDE

In an attempt to demonstrate his lighter side, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu posted to his official Facebook page a spoof video of his talk at the AIPAC policy conference in Washington this week.

The take-off poked fun at Netanyahu’s comment about Iran’s nuclear program: “If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then what is it? That’s right, it’s a duck. But this duck is a nuclear duck.”

You can see the spoof, which has been watched 100,000 times on YouTube since it was created two days ago,

  1. I’ve got some close Israeli friends, and I understand their humor. I see this as humor more in the American vein. Netanyahu probably has it, having grown up here. Same with his aide and speechwriter, Miami Beach kid Ron Dermer (his father was mayor). Author Joanne Slan claims that her college textbook on public speaking, Using Stories and Humor: Grab Your Audience (Allyn & Bacon), has been commended by an unnamed Netanyahu speechwriter. Perhaps it is Dermer.

In any event, I think the humor appeals to Americans. Can you see this from Ahmadinejad, Nasrallah, Assad, Abu Mazen, Arafat or any of the other myriad creatures to which the Middle East Islamic culture has given birth? (I’m not even sure they are members of the same species, although they look like us and might be able to interbreed with us–perish the thought.)
