Too funny for words

But don’t watch if you are offended by the “f” word.

  1. I can’t get very annoyed. It was simply not funny. That’s the problem with Larry David; he’s often unamusing when he overreaches. That’s why I don’t watch the show. There are enough Nebbishes in real life without the need to waste time with them on television week after week.

  2. I agree 100%! This “comic” episode is a disgrace. I am no prude, but I draw the line at debasing my faith in this way. I’m so glad I never watched this self-hating Jew’s show.

  3. I’m sorry but I see nothing funny about the use of the f word and pornography.Real humor doesn’t need to be laced with filth. At one time we had comedians who had an audience rolling in the aisles without using one dirty word. Larry David capitalizes on presenting the worst of Jewish stereotypes simply reaffirming an antisemitic view of Jews.

  4. I heard about this episode. It’s funny in an idiotic way. There was also an old episode where Larry gets grief from a Jewish neighbor for his fondness for Wagner. There’s always an element of self-loathing in his humor which can become cloying very fast. The show’s entire theme is how Larry’s Jewishness is the source of all his deep-seated neuroses, it’s his curse. This was summed up in the episode where Larry learns from a private eye that he was actually a Gentile adopted by a Jewish family. He walks around happy as a lark. He accepts the blessings of the Universe. Then, when he founds out the story was bogus, and he really is Jewish – he goes back to being miserable, paranoid, and has conniption fits over every little thing. I guess you could call it Jewish humor, but it can be mighty depressing to watch.

  5. Larry David is a genius. I love the interview of him by Ricky Gervais. Gervais says to him “I love Jewish humour. What is Jewish humour”? Larry gives an insightful answer.

  6. Larry has a real problem. What happens next? Does the sky part, and his Jewish mother talks to him? What a suspenseful episode! (Larry is a schmuk)
