PM: Speed Construction of Jerusalem Area Housing
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu called Tuesday to speed the construction of 2,000 homes in the Jerusalem area. The homes are to be located in Jerusalem, Maaleh Adumim, and Gush Etzion.
Netanyahu has previously faced international criticism over construction in the areas in question, because of their location east of the 1949 armistice line in territory the PA hopes to make part of a new Arab state.
Report: Govt. Approved Gaza Op
The government has essentially given the IDF a green light to operate in Gaza, according to a military source quoted by Associated Press. The source said the cabinet had given the go-ahead to anything from pinpoint action to a large-scale ground operation in order to stop terrorists’ rocket attacks.
The severity of Israel’s response will depend on the scale of rocket attacks, the source said. Terrorists have fired many rockets at civilians in southern Israel since the weekend, killing one person and wounding others.
Report: Syria reaches deal with Arab League on unrest
BEIRUT – Syrian state television said on Tuesday a final agreement had been reached between Syrian authorities and an Arab League committee tasked with finding a solution to end seven months of unrest.
“The agreement between Syria and the Arab committee (has been reached) on the final paper regarding the situation in Syria and the official announcement (will be) tomorrow at the Arab League headquarters,” a breaking news strapline on the television said.
