American Thinker published a great article called Why Europe Abandoned Israel. The piece talks about the relationship between Europe and Israel. Written by Richard Baehr it not only gives a history of the relationship but also adds perspective to European hatred of the Jewish state today.
Baehr reminds us that up to 35-40 years ago European nations could be counted among Israel’s biggest supporters. In fact, prior to the Six Day War in 1967, Israel used to get most of her weapons from France (yes THAT France).
His thesis is that part of Europe’s animosity towards Israel is, in reality, a transference of its animosity toward the US. So to get the full picture you first need to explore why the EU hates the US: CONTINUE
It is an interesting article and touches on a few points, but rushes to a conclusion not entirely true but nonetheless holds as such in the popular imagination.
The EU remains the largest trading partner with Israel and shares in its military strategy. Germany gave Israel several submarines which were nuclear compatable. Ther is much more going on between them than what is stated on the surface.
