Obama’s bombing of Libya opposed by his friends

Obama finally was pushed into bombing Libya. The following people and countries have come out against it.

Farrakhan, Rev Wright, Michael Moore, China, Germany, Italy, Chavez,

Reps. Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), Donna Edwards (Md.), Mike Capuano (Mass.), Dennis Kucinich (Ohio), Maxine Waters (Calif.), Rob Andrews (N.J.), Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas), Barbara Lee (Calif.) and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D.C.) “all strongly raised objections to the constitutionality of the president’s actions” during that call, said two Democratic lawmakers who took part.

We are a civilized country that invented the citizen’s Bill of Rights. We don’t do armed insurrections even against a soft tyrant like Imam Obama. We’ll get him in 2012, Inshallah, with the help of more Jewish Americans.

To remove Gaddafi by force many more innocents will get dead, So you are willing to kill as many or more innocents to save other hypothetical innocents? Lousy math and an even lousier moral compass.

What kind of “moral compass” makes up scenarios out of whole cloth? Israel kills innocents all the time while defending itself.

Nice to see you joining in common cause with Obama and all those LIBERAL Jews (78%).

Another whopper. I wouldn’t have waited all these years to bring Khaddafi to justice for Panam 103. Now, I wouldn’t have dithered for over a month and then cravenly followed with the Europeans as cover, and would have gone directly after Khaddafi like Reagan did. No cockamamie no-fly zones. That way I would have beaten Al Qaeda to the punch and had my people in charge before they knew what was going on.

    Another word Hezbollah!!

I thought you were a Fox news Junkie? Maybe just a stupid junkie?

Your comments on this and other issues where you are regularly found attacking Israel’s ally and praising its enemies has established your intellectual bankruptcy far better than anything I could write:

You are the proof that Jar Heads cannot think. It is because innocents are “biting it” that is the basis for the current action by the US president you – and 78% of American Jews – love so much.

Innocents? Try an armed insurrection against the US Government and see what you get. That said in an armed conflict innocents get hurt even dead. To remove Gaddafi by force many more innocents will get dead, So you are willing to kill as many or more innocents to save other hypothetical innocents? Lousy math and an even lousier moral compass.

    One word: Lockerbie.

Another word Hezbollah!! and another the PA Authority and another Iran, and another Syria. Lets not forget the Saudis who support educationally charitably and Biggesst sponsor of world terror that has killed hundreds of Americans besides and including the gang who did 9/11.

Knute and Hannity seem to have got it unlike you.

Now, why couldn’t the Israeli Jar Head figure this out for himself?

  4. Enough already!!!!! As Viet Nam vet who loves God & the USA, I’m more than willing to bite the bullet and make whatever sacrifice to save our nation. I would like for my kids and grandkids to be able to live with the freedoms that I’ve enjoyed all my life. Why don’t we quit propping up all these evil dictators who become wealthy with our tax dollars and torture and kill their own citizens? What did we accomplish in Nam? What do we think is going to happen in Iraq & Afghanistan when we leave? How about bringing our troops home and securing our borders and protecting our nation from those who are bent on destroying us???? AND DRILL, BABY, DRILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. “President Obama didn’t need Congressional approval to act in concert with the other Countries who are following the UNSC resolution to stop Kadafi from murdering his own citizens…”

Actually, he didn't need Congr approval even to act without a coalition. (The War Powers Act is arguably unconstitutional.) The making of war is an executive function, and the President is the country’s Chief Executive. For better or for worse, he IS, in the end (in the immortal words of his predecessor), “the decider.”

Of course, as in the past, the power-of-the-purse — as well as the responsibility to raise armies — gives Congr the leverage to ultimately have its own influence over the direction of events.

Still, the decision to order personnel into combat is the President’s, and his alone.

That doesn’t mean I think he decided right in this instance.

It would be an unmixed treat to “see Col. Qhaddafi’s blood” — certainly the US owes him, big time: for Lockerbie, as well as the Mughrabi release, etc.

However, whether this is the time for removing Col. Q (or even, uh, “putting him out of his misery”) is another question. If his departure from the scene — whether violent OR benign — will bring the Ikhwan or al-Qaeda or some other Islamist outfit to prominence there in his place, then the change of personnel at this time will constitute a net loss.

What do we know about the rebellion’s makeup? Aaron Klein [Jerusalem correspondent, World Net Daily] seems to think it IS, in fact, Islamist.

If there is reason to expect the vaccuum produced by Qhaddafi’s removal to be filled by jihadis of one stripe or another, it would be wiser to wait for a better moment — and meanwhile perhaps do just enough to keep the insurgents from being utterly destroyed: if only so as to avoid crushing all hope in some other, more suitable, claimant to power who may be quietly watching from the wings, awaiting his own moment…..

“Just listened to Oliver North and have come to the conclusion that not only is he a stupid Jar Head but a war lover for any reason.”

Resist the temptation to conjure up the stereotype. It was easy enough to apply typing to Kahane too, but it was off-the-mark. Seeing Col. North in caricature is likewisea mistake.

Qhaddafi tried to kill North’s wife, Betsy, and their kids.

    Tread lightly, Yamit.

  6. HCQ clarified the Libyan situation well with a minimum of words. Sure Gaddafi is a brutal dictator who doesn’t hesitate to murder his own citizens in cold blood. But is he any different from other Arab and Muslim tyrants? It’s simply a matter of degree. Ahmadinajad in Iran probably killed more innocent protesters than Gaddafi, but he used more subtle means than planes and bombs.Sadam Hussein used poison gas to exterminate whole towns. As the Islamists proudly proclaim theirs is a religion of death. Why interfere with their “religion”.

  7. What better way to destroy the candidacy of Barack Obama in 2012, then not supporting him in Libya’s civil war. Remember that it was Lyndon Johnson the other “Great” Democratic President who got us into Vietnam. Vietnam after all was also a civil war, and what did that war get us (The USA) 53,000 dead, tremendous debt, and a divided country. I think supporting Obama in this idiotic costly venture is the best thing to happen to GOP and Tea Party candidate since the invention of sliced bread.

  8. Yamit,

Although I’ve often thought of you as a gung-ho jarhead, I will not call you that now — long enough to say that I agree with what you said in Post #3. I also agree with Ted Belman, in wondering what the h___ these gung-ho warmongers are thinking. I have read Sarah Palin’s and Mike Huckabee’s positions on the attack, and accordingly written them off as Presidential candidates worth their salt. Laura will no doubt vote for them, if she doesn’t go all the way and copy you in voting for Obama. Her Nixonitis is showing: she can’t help it. As for the Jews here who support Big O’s adventures in mayhem, all I can say is that this proves all the propaganda of the antisemites throughout history.

It’s heartening to see that China opposed the madness. I am in China at the moment, enjoying the hospitality of some of the friendliest people I have ever known. I would that China had used its veto to stop this thing; but they probably understand full well that the biggest losers in this deal will be their chief rivals. If you try to stop someone who’s intent on jumping off a cliff, after all, you might end up going down with him.

I haven’t checked out the Israeli response to all this yet, as my computer access time is limited. Maybe they still think it’s some sort of Purim joke. If so, the joke’s on them.

  9. This was a civil war and Libya did not attack us so it is NOT a truly defensive war for the USA. This is a war being waged for british and french oil interests. If this is a “humanitarian” war then what about all the other nations where protests are being crushed? Why is Libya so special? There is no guarantee of what will replace the current regime once the power vacuum commences. Unlike Saddam Hussein, Libya didn’t invade another country. The USA has no business being involved in this war in any way. The Arab League is already complaining(I knew they would)in order to save face because they helped support this foreign intervention.

  10. I feel the same as Bill. Considering who’s against the bombing of Libya may cause me to reconsider my opposition to it.

Oliver North has a point in that if you are going to war, you finish the job or don’t bother.

  11. I guess if you live long enough, you end up defending the politician who you are dying to see voted out of office…LOL

President Obama didn’t need Congressional approval to act in concert with the other Countries who are following the UNSC resolution to stop Kadafi
    from murdering his own citizens…

We are aiding an international coalition in trying to stop barbaric behavior.. We will have no troops on the ground….
I have read several good commentaries which make the point that he waited to long to act… He has been accused of taking a back
seat to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who spoke more assertively then President Obama last week…

With the exception of a few Elected Representatives (Reps. Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), Donna Edwards (Md.), Mike Capuano (Mass.), Dennis Kucinich (Ohio), Maxine Waters (Calif.), Rob Andrews (N.J.), Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas), Barbara Lee (Calif.) and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D.C.), none of the others who participated in the Conference call were office holders, and don’t have constituents to answer to…

In all candor, I see this whole thing as a bit of a diversion from another issue…

President Obama has said precious little about the family that was senselessly murdered in Israel a week ago…

    Where is the outrage???

  12. Just listened to Oliver North and have come to the conclusion that not only is he a stupid Jar Head but a war lover for any reason. His justification is a long as Obama has committed he must go all the way to taking the whole country of Libya and kill if possible Qaddafi, doesn’t matter what the consequences are or how many innocents bite it Gung Ho Jar Heads never could think.

In one day of combat the cost to America just in cruise missiles at $600,000 each missile. That’s 70 million in one day just from cruise missiles.

CRACKS ALREADY IN ARAB BACKING……They are all afraid of he reaction of Arab Street.
