    “Still, the Jordanian government’s secret affair with the Islamists goes beyond the Muslim Brotherhood. In 2008, Muhammad al-Dahabi, the powerful and agile director of the Jordanian General Intelligence Department, held meetings with Hamas leaders. According to US Embassy-Amman cables recently made public by Wikileaks, Jordanian officials were not shy or reluctant about their affair with Hamas, and even defended it before American diplomats.”

In the aftermath of protests in Tunisia, the Jordanian public and activists groups have been engaging in sweeping protests against the extreme living conditions and inflation, and calling for the resignation of the government.

Amazingly, the Muslim Brotherhood was the only political faction in the country that announced boycotting the protests.

Further, the government in Jordan has been constantly telling the Palestinians there that they are “guests,” and not natives, of the land — despite their holding citizenships — and that they therefore “should someday return to Palestine,” a notion that has been highly quoted by senior Jordanian officials. The Muslim Brotherhood has also been promoting the same concept to the Jordanian Palestinians for decades, saying that that they should wait until “Palestine is liberated,” and consider their stay in Jordan temporary.

    That sounds reasonable. The Israelis should use the same tack against the local Arabs, who flooded Israel under the British Mandate. Besides having common interests concerning the Palestinians, the Muslim Brotherhood seems to not have much more love of the Iranians than the Hashemites do. It’s a marriage made in Limbo, if not in hell.

    Susan, bottom line we, the US and likewise Israel cannot trust any of the Arab countries.

    Let’s face it their finger prints are all over the terrorist attacks, especially those against Israel.

    This is no newsflash for Jordan was in bed with the likes of Saddam Hussein who had a penchant for bestowing toys upon the Jordanian Royal family to name a few, like shinny new porches, the best Arabian horses and of course for the woman, beautiful jewels amounting to mere millions. But never mind. I find it incredible that during the Iraqi war when Jordan opened the floodgates of insurgents into Iraq the U.S turned the other cheek, sort of speak. Our boys came back in body bags and we sleep with those who sleep with the enemy.

    The fact that the average Joe on the street in Jordan made less than 5 bucks a day did not interest us either. We say we want to advance freedom and democracy ending tyrannical rule of oppression across the world yet every U.S President while not sleeping with the enemy who sleeps with the enemy including the ‘war on terror’ one makes hypocrisy look like the soup du’ jour.
