Four-hundred lib rabbis — the kind that give sanctimonious sermons about the environment at Westchester synagogues — have banded together to slam Glenn Beck with a $100K ad in the Wall Street Journal. According to the clerics, Beck has been unfairly attacking George Soros for collaborating with the Nazis in WWII when the billionaire was a fourteen-year old — something that Soros himself admits and, incredibly, doesn’t feel guilty about.
Steve Kroft of 60 Minutes interviewed Soros about his “youth.” Given the rabbis’ WSJ ad, it seems worth reprinting a transcript of a significant part of that interview here:

KROFT: (Voiceover) And you watched lots of people get shipped off to the death camps.
Mr. SOROS: Right. I was 14 years old. And I would say that that’s when my character was made.
KROFT: In what way?
Mr. SOROS: That one should think ahead. One should understand and–and anticipate events and when–when one is threatened. It was a tremendous threat of evil. I mean, it was a–a very personal experience of evil.
KROFT: My understanding is that you went out with this protector of yours who swore that you were his adopted godson.
Mr. SOROS: Yes. Yes.
KROFT: Went out, in fact, and helped in the confiscation of property from the Jews.
Mr. SOROS: Yes. That’s right. Yes.
KROFT: I mean, that’s–that sounds like an experience that would send lots of people to the psychiatric couch for many, many years. Was it difficult?
Mr. SOROS: Not–not at all. Not at all. Maybe as a child you don’t–you don’t see the connection. But it was–it created no–no problem at all.
KROFT: No feeling of guilt?
Mr. SOROS: No.
KROFT: For example that, ‘I’m Jewish and here I am, watching these people go. I could just as easily be there. I should be there.’ None of that?
Mr. SOROS: Well, of course I c–I could be on the other side or I could be the one from whom the thing is being taken away. But there was no sense that I shouldn’t be there, because that was–well, actually, in a funny way, it’s just like in markets–that if I weren’t there–of course, I wasn’t doing it, but somebody else would–would–would be taking it away anyhow. And it was the–whether I was there or not, I was only a spectator, the property was being taken away. So the–I had no role in taking away that property. So I had no sense of guilt.
Wow. All I can say is wow. That lack of guilt has always been astounding to me and an indication of who Soros really is. (Hello, rabbis.)
Nevertheless, these goody-goody rabbis think Beck is the problem, not Soros. They blame Beck for going over the top in his speech (where have we heard that before?), misusing the memory of the Holocaust, etc., but no word of the “misuse of speech” by Soros-funded MoveOn.org that famously made a video comparing George Bush to Hitler, something that has been scrubbed from the Internet but can be found here.
Talk about misusing the memory of the Holocaust. But I guess it wasn’t worth $100K.
Both Yamit and Bill Levinson remind me of those Polish Jews who demonized Jabotinsky (I am NOT comparing Soros to Jabotinsky, so don’t start erecting a straw man and attacking me) screaming that Jews have nothing to fear in Poland, and of those German Jews who said Hitler would tone down his rhetoric as soon as he is elected.
I watched that show (no doubt rehearsed many times) when Glenn Beck was having his audience “guess” who has “the direct line to Obama’s Blackberry”. Even if Soros is everything his demonizers are convinced he is, it was obvious that he was being used as a tool for Jew-baiting.
People like Yamit and Bill Levinson cannot admit that they are wrong, so they go into convulsions trying to disassociate themselves from Soros, like good Uncle Tom Jewsies they are. Sharbano is 100% correct in his assessment.
I cannot imagine how anyone can watch that paid propagandist and not throw up or at list feel nauseated.
Rabbis? They wear kippot? Keep Shabbat? Kashrut?Family Purity? Their Temples have a Bima in the middle and a mechitzah? They do not use a microphone or Organ on shabbat? They believe in Torah MiSinai? They observe Judaism according to the Shulchan Aruch?
Please do not refer to members of the United Sin of G-d as Rabbis. They are Ministers or Pastors of the Reform and Conservative faiths a perversion of Judaism!
It’s amazing how many people think they know G-d’s mind and also have the knowledge to declare who is and who is not a Jew. Chutzpah has no higher peak.
A 14 year old becomes a man according to the Jewish religion, after your Bar Mitzvah. I am a Holocaust survivor
myself and I was 16 when the Holocaust came upon us and I cannot imagine a Jew doing what Soros did to survive. He reported
to the Nazis who was Jewish and then they killed those Jews or sent them to the death camps, and of course stole all their possessions.
That’s how this low life made his first fortune. It is true that people did all kind of things to survive like the “Judenrath”, Jewish leadership in Germany in WWII
who gave the Nazis the list of names of the Jews they were supposed to protect. They were killed anyhow.
If Soros was a human being, he would have had remorse and help the Jewish community, instead he is one our worst enemies.
And those liberal rabbis should have spent
the monies on the Jewish poor, they are not better than Soros.
I don’t go much to synagogues since I have no desire to be preached by those boring and evil rabbis. They have lost their credibility.

How can Beck be anti-Semitic when, in recent shows, he quotes the teachings of his favorite rabbi? C’mon people get real….his putting the spotlight on Soros Jewish roots is to demonstrate the man has no scruples and would sell out his own people.

We obviously have different opinions about who is a Jew and who isn’t. To you, whether someone is a Jew or a Jew-hater, depends completely on your whim at the moment. For the record, the quintisential Jew during WWII, in my opinion, was Mordecaj Anielewiecz, a SOCIALIST, SECULAR Jew whom you would describe as “as Jewish as the Westboro freaks are Christian”. I don’t know if Jews are the chief Israel detractors, certainly there are Jews who oppose Israel, so what? Jews are free to think and express their views on a lot of issues. That some of us deplore them and their views is for us an internal Jewish problem to be solved by we Jews one way or another. When Jew haters like you call attention to Soros ethnicity within the context of his non Jewish related political activities, this is an indication of underlying Jewish scapegoating. That forces those like me who have the most negative opinions of Soros to have to defend him. None of us are happy about that. It has nothing to do with Soros but it has everything to do with Jews defending themselves as Jews from anti-Semites like you.

I side with Glenn Beck against these apostate Jews who have no knowledge of just how evil George Soros is. Just because they claim to be Jewish doesn’t make them approved by God Almighty or mean that they have any weight or bearing or authority. I stand with Glenn Beck on many issues and disagree with him on many issues, but one thing I do stand with Glenn Beck on is all of his commentaries on George Soros, who is pure evil. If I had my choice of which man I would want to lead the USA, that would be GLENN BECK over SOROS any time

Are you trying to deny that Soros is a Jew? If he’s a Jew, what should Beck call him? Are you ashamed of being called a Jew? I notice that Jews are in no way hesitant to call Albert Einstein a Jew, though neither he nor his parents were practicing Jews: Soros’s Jewishness is no more and no less than Einstein’s. Are you so touchy about your own identity, that you can’t take the bad with the good?
Soros is who and what he is; and it is foolishness to try to hide the fact that Israel’s chief detractors are Jews, just like him. It’s the truth, and I love the truth.
If Soros uses his Jewishness to make some point about Israel, such as “I’m a Jew and I favor the Palestinian cause”, then identifying Soros’ background is of some importance.
But admittedly, I don’t know if Soros does this.
The program we watched didn’t seem to make that point. The point of him being a Jew had no relationship to the subject matter he was discussing. It was an added footnote. If this is the case, then what was the point, and this is my point. What we came away with was, here is George Soros, who is evil, And he is a Jew.
I’m rather apolitical in regards to US politics and this was the first time I’d seen him on TV. Needless to say he didn’t impress me much.
No, you completely missed Glenn’s point. The purpose of him emphasizing Soros being Jewish was to illustrate that he betrayed his own during WW2 in order to save himself and had no guilt about it.

I too saw that Beck program and he did give context to bringing up that the evil Soros is a Jew. That is what even Soros has admitted that he acted against fellow Jews in their hour of total helplessness. These stupid rabbis are if anything contributing to anti Jewish backlash by reviving an incident long forgotten.
Sometimes saying nothing and doing nothing is the wise way. In this case they are defending the indefensible…. George Soros. Beck is laughing all the way to the bank….He thrives on controversy and all the Red Necks who think he is Jesus returned will have their anti Jewish views now reinforced by those stupid rabbis (sic).
I was visiting my mother a few months back and we happened to watch Beck’s program when he was speaking about Soros. I said to my mother, “I wonder if he’s going to bring up that he’s Jewish”. Well, sure enough, he certainly did. It is one thing to speak ill of a person but to bring the point the man is Jewish has deeper ramifications. Even if Beck wants to define the man as pure evil what does being Jewish have anything to do with that. Is he insinuating that this is the nature of the Jew. This isn’t the first time such allusions have been made, with images of what a typical Jew would look like. I’m sure many have seen these images. What Beck is doing is planting a seed that will bear fruit that certainly will not be good for the Jewish population.
For the time being the US economy isn’t on the edge of a precipice, but if it does take a serious turn, who will be the ones to blame. This, too, has historic roots. When the public realizes that many of the wealthy are Jews and their situation is dire then Becks’ seeds will bear its fruit. We saw this during the time of the Oil crisis among those who normally would not harbor any antisemitic tendencies. But the personal situation of those people left the need to attribute their suffering to someone, and that someone happened to be Jews.
When there are those who will condemn Rabbis because of political leanings, then this is planting even more seeds that can bear fruit. Once people have reasons to despise Jews it doesn’t take much more to add to the list. It should cause concern when Anyone wants to identify being Jewish with what they despise. There was no need for Beck to make the specific point of Soros being Jewish. It has absolutely nothing to do with the politics of the matter. When it is brought to the forefront I have to wonder what is the underlying reason for such distinction.
How many people realize the many “distinctions” there are that are equated with Jews. This isn’t the only matter that identifies the Jew with what a person dislikes.
Roger Simon’s more of a liberal than half the rabbis on the list. He’s just a bitter alta cocka Hollywood hack. Who cares what Moveon.org did in 1902? Beck’s a Jew hating carny act and what’s Simon except his lickspittle kapo?
