This was war not a police operation

According to Report: Autopsy shows Gaza activists were shot a total of 30 times

Nine Turkish activists killed in an Israeli raid on a Gaza-bound aid ship were shot a total of 30 times and five died of gunshot wounds to the head, Britain’s Guardian newspaper reported on Friday.

Autopsy results showed the men were hit mostly with 9mm bullets, many fired at close range, the Guardian said, quoting Yalcin Buyuk, vice-chairman of the Turkish council of forensic medicine which carried out the autopsies on Friday.

The autopsy results showed that a 60-year-old man, Ibrahim Bilgen, was shot four times in the temple, chest, hip and back, the Guardian said.

A 19-year-old, named as Fulkan Dogan, who also has U.S. citizenship, as shot five times from less than 45 cm away, in the face, the back of the head, twice in the leg and once in the back, it said.

Two other men were shot four times. Five of those killed were shot either in the back of the head or in the back, the Guardian quoted Buyuk as saying.

Let us assume thhe worst that this report is true. I make no apologies. I’m glad to hear it.

Soldiers are trained to defend themselves and each other. When the soldiers in the IDF see their comrades being beaten to an inch of their lives by the enemy, I would expect them to go on a killing rampage. I don’t care how many times they kill each guy or whether the killing is an execution rather than an act of self defense. Our soldiers have bonded and for them this is personal. That’s good.

Don’t ask them to restrain their feelings of revenge. Expect them to hate the enemy. This is war.

  1. Shooting at a target that is moving in the heat of battle is totally different than regular target shooting. There is no time to draw a bead before pulling the trigger. That is the reason to use a .45 and not a 9mm.

True. But you can’t miss often enough to be effective – even with a .45.

It’s a tough situation in such circumstances, no matter what rounds you’re firing. Uzi would be effective in that it sprays everyone… but that possibly includes your own comrades. What am I saying?!!!! They had paintball guns; the sidearms were “just in case”!!!!

What ever happened to the Uzi? That piece solves the problem of having to draw a bead.

  4. So if nine terrorists had to be shot a total of thirty times to “convince” them, it comes as no surprise.

And here was I thinking that this was a tragedy – a waste of good ammunition…

Body shots, unless directly to the heart, are not as effective as even a single head shot…

    John Brennan

A top adviser to President Obama is the contact person within the White House for communications with the Free Gaza Movement over plans to challenge Israel’s blockade of the terrorist Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, according to a reputable source close to the Netanyahu government.

The source, a career official whose reliability was established through his tips for the book, “Why Israel Can’t Wait,” identified John O. Brennan, deputy national security adviser for homeland security and counterterrorism, as the contact.

The allegation raises the bizarre possibility that the Free Gaza Movement’s flotilla action in the Mediterranean was being coordinated with the White House, something that would align with a shift in U.S. policy toward Israel being debated within the Obama administration.

Mike Hammer, a National Security Council spokesman, told WND flatly the report “is not true.” …

I am curious to know when the ships departed, what the administration knew about the flotilla in advance, and what discussions concerning the flotilla went on in Washington beforehand. It would seem that if US intelligence was doing their job in the M.E., they would have seen this coming. Were any actions taken, or was the WH aware and passively supportive? That, I believe is a legitimate question.
