David Singer’s latest article, Jordan-“West Bank’ reconciliation is in the air”, includes the following:
“Jordan’s retirement from the West Bank moved Abu Iyad – PLO-leader Yassar Arafat’s deputy – to declare on 15 December 1989:
“I say that on the day immediately following the establishment of the Palestinian State, we will begin unity with Abu Iyad, 1989: You cannot make a distinction between a Jordanian and a Palestinian.
“We will begin unity with Jordan. I am not concerned what kind of unity this may be, because we are one people and have the same history. You cannot make a distinction between a Jordanian and a Palestinian. It is true that we encourage unity between Arab peoples, but the relation between Jordan and Palestine in particular is clearly distinctive; all those who tried in the past and are still trying to create divisions between the Jordanian and Palestinian people have failed. We indeed constitute one people… when the Palestinian state and unity is established … The Jordanian will be a Palestinian and the Palestinian a Jordanian”
“Reunification never required the creation of a second Palestinian Arab State in the ‘West Bank’ – in addition to Jordan.”
Mudar Zahran says the same thing. Jordanians are Palestinians because TransJordan was always part of the Mandate for Palestine.
No land west of the Jordan River will be ceded by Israel to Jordan. We are adament on this. Jordan will administer the Arab cities in Judea and Samaria in cooperation with Israel.
@ Bear Klein:
You are talking my language Bear. These Barkan murders exemplify EXACTLY what I’ve been trying to get across for as long as I’ve been posting. As you say “a place of co-existence”, giving Arabs opportunities that they’d never get under the PA and see what he decides to do. He decided that day, to meet Allah, and the 72 Virgins, making sure to take Jews with him. It’s most often a single murderer killing several Jews. So actuarially, over a period, there will be no Jews left to kill and still a surplus of Arabs.
The average Arab, and I say this meaning the usual, “normal” Arab is just llke this murderer. Jogs along for months, years, maybe decades, and ONE DAY… Bam….!!
Now this example has been repeated hundreds or thousands of times over the years and the govt. ALWAYS mumbles “Baruch Dayan Emet” or some such expected nonsense, which consoles the bereaved not a single scrap. The husband wife, child, father or mother has been heinously, needlessly led to the altar of sacrifice like Isaac, but REAL.
Israel is chock full or bereaved people, everyone has a murdered family member. It’s an absolute OUTRAGE that the Government clings to Tikkun Olam, the American Jewish Liberal nonsense, etc. and refuses to do what you have rightly suggested. To lay waste the murderer, his family, the village and the whole area.
The govt. seems to bask in a kind of “reflected glory” from the Goyim every time they allow a slaughterer to keep his life and become educated in prison, so that on release he can use his augmented intellect to murder Jews in greater quantity and subtilty.
Israelis are becoming so accustomed to going out and maybe not return home
because the Dati think,,, it’s “The Will Of G-D”….the secular shrug and think..What can we do about it..? as if leaving it to fate, when the solution is right under their noses. .
A government’s FIRST duty is to protect it’s people….This govt. fails very badly.
@ Edgar G.:
Edgar you have some serious and valid concerns.
Some friends and I were discussing the latest terrorist murders in the Barcan Industrial Park. Two dead Israelis and one wounded. This is supposed to be a place of co-existence.
Israel for one needs much harsher laws pertaining to terrorism. One death penalty. Two destroy not just the family home but rescind any rights family members have and deport them. Confiscate the land. In the event a neighborhood has repeat terrorism from the neighbor of large city or village. Destroy the entire neighborhood or village and confiscate the land.
