Where does the world learn how to take drinking water out of seawater? Israel. Who dumps 50% of its dinking and farm water into the sea? California!

  6. TESTIMONIALS AND SUCCESS STORIES

Shawn Mikesky of Las Plumas de Aguila Ranch, Schulenburg, TX. Longhorn cows are easy to manage. They require less input than any other breed and do better in minimal conditions. “The major asset of the Longhorn breed is the maternal ability of the female.” “You can breed them to whatever breed of bull you want and still get a good calf. Just remember to always use a good bull and a good quality cow.”

John Brittingham of Park Springs Ranch, Anton Chico, New Mexico, Texas Longhorn cross mother cow, “A 900-lb cow works well around here,” he says. “She requires less nourishment and gets around easier. A larger cow would have a hard time raising a calf and breeding back.”

“In our droughty, semi-arid environment, my Longhorn-Hereford cross cows are 987% bred and will consistently breed back without supplemental feed. I don’t think a 1200-lb. cow could achieve that percentage.”

Gerry Shudde and his wife, (New Mexico-Texas) “They’re ideal for this brush country,” says Shudde. “They’re small cows, that can browse efficiently. Right now, they’ve quit the dry grass and are licking on Huajillo brush. They are also easier to work than Brahman crosses.”

Janelle Shudde chimes in. “What seems the strongest about our Longhorn crossbreeding program is being able to utilize this breed that has develop such strong “survivor” characteristics such as few birthing problems, range and brush grazing and effective mothering; combine those things to come up with something, not just preserving history, but effective in the production arena of the real world we have to make a living in.”

    Attacks on our Ranches
(The includes both Israeli Jewish and Arab Ranches)

Help defend the Galilee and develop the Negev: a nonviolent means for solving this problem. In the Galilee there are many Christian historical sites. This area is being taken over by local Arabs.

Israel Ranches are being attacked, their land being stolen and their passive European cattle are being mutilated, ears, noses and even heads are being cut off, and killed by local Palestinians; jackals and wolves are also killing cattle.

These cattle will stop thieves and help prevent international incidents by solving the problem in the pasture rather then later with the Israeli Border Police try to arrest the thieves at their village. Instead of the thieves the whole village protects the thieves, confronting the Police. Project is endorsed by ???

Shai Dromi is an Israeli farmer who, in an act of self-defense, shot and killed a trespasser and wounded another on 13 January 2007 at 3am after discovering his dog had been poisoned, allegedly by four intruders.[1] On 15 July 2009, he was acquitted of manslaughter but convicted on charges of illegal possession of weapons. The rifle he had used belonged to his father and not registered in Dromi’s name.

Dromi’s farm is near Meitar in southern Israel, an area plagued by property theft. In the months leading up to the incident, several other dogs had been killed and a tractor and horse stolen.

    Dromi testified at his trial:
“I awoke at 3 AM to the barking of the guard dog that I acquired after my dogs were poisoned. Even though I was incredibly tired, I got out of bed and walked around the house. After I went back to bed, I again heard the dog barking irregularly. I went out with my weapon and didn’t see anything. I kept walking around [the perimeter of my] sheep pen, and noticed large metal wire-cutters. I panicked. I realized there were men around me.”

When police arrived, Dromi was administering first aid to the intruder, a Bedouin, Khaled el-Atrash, who later died. Dromi was arrested and imprisoned for a month and later restrained from returning to his farm afterwards requiring volunteers to continue its maintenance.

A public uproar drew much attention to Dromi’s plight and a law was proposed by Member of Knesset Yisrael Katz and later passed by a large majority in the Knesset. The law, commonly known as the ‘Dromi Law’, considers opposition to intruders as self-defence.

    A Short Texas Longhorn History

Texas Longhorn Cattle first came to America on Columbus’s ships in 1499. These ships were very small. Average deck length – 65′, beam – 18′, draft-7′, tonnage – 75, sail Area – 1919 sq. ft. Can you imagine three months on the Atlanta ocean in these tiny ships with cattle, pigs and chickens, food, supplies and about 120 men?

Texas Longhorn cattle originated in the Black Sea shore area the between 20,000 and 5,000 years ago. They lived and traveled through Great Middle Eastern Deserts, spread throughout Europe, the Mediterranean and Africa, eventually arriving ancient Israel and finally arriving in Spain.

The few Longhorns that Columbus brought to the New World 1499 had grown into millions by 1865. Longhorns thrived in the harsh scrublands, semi-arid climates of Mexico and Southern Texas. Longhorns are a hardy, drought tolerant, disease resistant breed, that we were able to travel long distances in the great cattle drives without much, if any, loss of weight. This is how America’s cattle industry began and Longhorn cattle played a major role in feeding the hungry and building the post-Civil War America.

This information demonstrates how well these cattle are likely to thrive in Israel and other countries whose environments are harsh with semi-desert conditions.

This short historical paragraph relied on information from several articles that are far more detailed. Texas Longhorn: Forgotten Breed with A Bright Future, by Mary Lou Harrsch and Cattle and Civilization: The Epic of the Longhorn, by Michael M. Fennell. Darol Dickinson of the Dickinson Cattle Co, our Texas Longhorn embryo supplier can also provide a great deal of information about Longhorns at: http://www.texaslonghorn.com.

Youtube says, “Video Unavailable”. It doesn’t give the title or author, either. That’s one reason why one should always include the title and author of the video you are citing.

Another reason is that a hacker (I suppose it could also be a technical foulup) could switch the video with another and no one would be the wiser (except the author if he or she goes back to look). Join me and help strengthen Israel with the Israel Longhorn Project: http://longhornproject.org
The Longhorn Project Offers Israel a Solution for Hunger and a Message of Support
The Israel Longhorn Project, the inspiration of Robin Rosenblatt, CEO, was first imagined in 2007. With a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from California State Fresno University and a Masters in Animal Science from Hebrew University, Rosenblatt understood all too well the cattle problems plaguing Israel and was struck with a solution. Before he knew it, the project became a holy task he felt driven to accomplish in order to give this precious, life-giving gift to Israel’s ranchers and, in turn, the nation of Israel. His mission is to help strengthen the war torn country by bringing them Texas Longhorn cattle.

The Problem with Israel’s Current Cattle Herds
Because the European beef cattle brought to Israel 60 years ago were bred for rich pastureland instead of Israel’s semi-arid desert environment, they have not thrived as expected. Not only are these current passive cattle weak and prone to genetic diseases, they are unable to protect their young from jackals, wolves and cattle thieves.

Another problem has cropped up because the non-native shrubs cultivated to feed the cattle are highly flammable under the deserts extreme conditions, easily causing devastating forest fires, which become a threat to the entire region. These cattle can’t eat the native vegetation, and as feed costs continue to rise, there is further hardship to the ranchers and ultimately to the general population in the way of high beef prices The European cattle also have poor mothering skills, a high rate of birth complications and they reproduce for only about 10 years.
    Texas Longhorns to the Rescue!

The solution comes right out of the old American West. The hardy Longhorn breed, when introduced into the Israeli ranchers’ existing stocks, will bring with them their desert tolerant genetics. This will improve the herds’ adaptability to the Negev’s extreme heat and lack of water. Here is a list of some of the Longhorn’s other advantages over Israel’s European cattle:

Longhorns are highly resistant to disease.
Because of their excellent calving and mothering abilities and their long, sharp horns, they are very protective of each other’s calves from predators.
They eat easily ignited invasive shrubs, as well as native vegetation, thus lowering fire hazards and feed costs.
Longhorns have higher reproduction rates and very low calf losses, reproducing for up to 18 years.
Longhorns use less land, feed, water and antibiotics, making them more economical to raise.
Longhorn cattle produce healthy, organic lean meat.
Bottom line, the Longhorn project intends to lower the cost, while at the same time, improve the quality of the beef, which in turn, greatly aids the Israeli ranchers and consumers.

How can Texas Longhorns be Such a Simple Answer?

Texas Longhorns aren’t originally from Texas! They actually originated in the Black Sea area between 5,000 and 15,000 years ago. They lived and traveled through great Middle Eastern deserts, eventually moving westward into ancient Israel and arriving in Spain. Columbus brought them to the New World in 1494, and by 1865 they had grown into millions in the scrubland of the American Southwest and Mexico. Because they were tolerant to the desert conditions of long ago, they could be driven long distances to market without much weight loss. This is how America’s cattle industry was born.
It’s Time to Take the Longhorns Home!
So, bringing longhorns to Israel isn’t as novel an idea as it first seems. The Israel Longhorn Project simply intends to bring them back to their heritage of desert living that made them hardy, fertile and protective in the first place. The strategy to make this monumental undertaking a reality will take place in 4 phases:
Establish a Longhorn breeding program in Israel by creating an educational, environmental, self-sustainable, research ranch using humane cattle handling methods called “Stockmanship” and ecological grazing techniques called “Strategic Grazing.”
Demonstrate to ranchers how well Longhorns thrive in a desert environment.
Teach ranchers how to raise Texas Longhorns, safely and humanely.
Donate Texas Longhorn cattle to ranchers so they can breed the desert tolerant genetics into their herds.

Not only will we improve a vital food source in Israel, our project will also create jobs, internships and volunteer positions.
    Sponsors and Donors Needed
Rosenblatt asks “Jews and Christians of good faith, join this holy task, for generations to come.” Of course a project of this magnitude needs corporate sponsors, individual donors and volunteers to make it a reality. Rosenblatt hopes people will understand the problem and feel moved to support the solution that will help Israel, a country under attack and isolated by the world. Every donation is a gift that will impact the entire nation, and let them know they have not been forgotten.
The Project will support itself in the 5th or 7th year. It is the only self-sustainable nonprofit in America.
    What You Can Do
The first year we need $120,000 to start the project. Much of it will be spent on bringing embryos and equipment to Israel. The second year we will need $140,000 and the next three years we will only need $315,000 to help make project self-supporting.

We can solve this problem together if some of you contribute large amounts and the rest of you of 3000 donate $200, or many more of you donate $18, $36 or $72.

Donations are accepted at http://www.longhornproject.org or learn more by contacting Robin Rosenblatt, M. Sc., at 650-631-9270.

No, I want the Arabs (correction Muslim Arabs and other anti-semites, non-Muslim friendlies who are there could be allowed to remain as guests with or without the right to vote) to be deported from Greater Israel* and for Israeli Jews to do what ever they want with the land.

*Including all of Judea, Samaria, Gaza, plus (should they attack agaih) Jordan, Southern Lebanon, the Sinai Penninsula and any other contiguous territory from which Israel is ever attacked, or Jews are attacked, or from which attacks are launched or planned, or preached of, or sung of or dreamed of** in the middle of the night during sleep or under anaesthesia by anyone under any circumstances.

**The sheer ridiculousness of basing the Muslim claim to Jerusalem on a dream by that Proto-Nazi, Mohammad (it’s not hyperbole, he ethnically cleansed Saudi Arabia of Jews, Jews built Mecca and/or Medina!!!!!) If he can conquer based on a dream why can’t we. The Spanish Inquisition and the monstrous persecution of our people aside, I find it refreshing that the Spanish didn’t call the liberation of the Iberian Penninsula, a liberation but “The Reconquest!” Let’s get back to the Book of Joshua with or without the religious claptrap and Reconquer our land. Screw all this nonsense about international law and human rights. If I hear one more time, “But Jews don’t commit murder” I will tear what little hair I have left out. Where has that gotten us? It’s not something for individuals to do. That would be and has been disastrous. It would be used as an effective weapon against us. As it has been. It must be a collective effort. We must have the state based on a consensus of our people.

I come from a area where meat production is an important industry. Many beef producers are friend os mine and to say they cruel to the animals is wrong.

Veganism in Israel is taking hold among the Orthodox, who use textual sources to argue against all meat consumption

    Also from the article:

“…On his podcast, Gimpel said he was also advised to keep quiet about his new eating habits. He didn’t take that counsel and has become an animal-rights activist, tying this issue into his overall agenda of religious Zionism and the connection to the land of Israel. A few months ago he became a partner in a farm run by two other families in Gush Etzion, the West Bank settlement bloc that includes the community where he lives, Neve Daniel. So far the farm includes a herd of 60 free-roaming sheep–all with names—hundreds of olive trees, grape vineyards, and chickens. There are plans to build a guesthouse so visitors can stay and learn about sustainable agriculture. He is unsure whether he would want to eventually slaughter the sheep, or if he would eat these sheep or the meat of any animals treated in keeping with religious laws that prevent their suffering.

“I battle with that question a lot,” he said. Even if animals are raised and slaughtered humanely, he can’t help but think of the verse in Isaiah about the lion lying down with the lamb. It is here that Gimpel, Keisar, and Avraham Yitzhak Kook in his writing more than 100 years ago see a connection between avoiding meat consumption and messianic times. They see being vegan–or at least vegetarian—as a religious ideal…..”

Feel like chicken tonight? New ‘supermeat’ can be grown in the lab without an animal in sight
‘SuperMeat’ is developing way to grow meat in the lab using chicken tissue
The samples would be collected without harming the animal, they say
Then, this would be grown and duplicated in a unique environment
According to the campaign, the meat would be humane and eco-friendly

The meat industry has long been linked to animal suffering and harmful effects on the environment – but for meat-lovers, saying goodbye to chicken wings or a juicy hamburger isn’t always an easy decision.
Now, a new IndieGogo campaign claims to have found a cruelty-free solution – and it doesn’t require giving up your favourite foods.
Israeli startup ‘SuperMeat’ is working to develop a way to grow ‘meal-ready’ meat in the lab using tissue samples from a chicken, with hopes real animal meat can one day be mass produced without actually harming any animals.

Coming soon: chicken meat without slaughter

An Israeli foundation is first in the world to research mass production of cultured chicken breast, a real meat product starting from a single cell of a real bird.

Here is a discussion from Chabad.org on whether lab grown meat is Kosher. Answer: They’re thinking about it but it sounds promising.

    a propos of nothing:

They recently found a stoneware factory in Israel from 2,000 years ago. Apparently it was a popular container because it is easy to Kasher:

“…In ancient times, most tableware, cooking pots and storage jars were made of pottery. In the first century of the Common Era, however, Jews throughout Judea and Galilee used tableware and storage vessels made of soft, local chalkstone. The reason for this curious choice of material seems to have been religious; according to ancient Jewish law, vessels made of stone can never become ritually impure, while pottery can and there is no way to make it kosher again – and as a result ancient Jews began to produce their everyday tableware from stone…”

Though meat protein’s not that good for you. It’s what killed Atkins. Now, if they could only come up with a non-carb vegan protein source. I gave up meat almost 40 years ago out of compassion for animals, but when i don’t eat fish I crave carbs and my weight, arthritis, and diabetes spiral out of control. Survival comes first.

  26. With just a $120 donation from 5000 of us we can solve all these problems: Israeli ranches under attack; they have European cattle that don’t fit Israel’s desert environment; the poor people in Israel cannot afford meat; the Galilee has gray semi dead earth cannot absorb water or carbon, filled with 15 foot tall desert shrubs.
