Why Republicans are losing

By Ted Belman

The polls have all but declared Obama the victor come the elections.

The Conservatives hate almost everything Obama stands for, including
abandonment of Israel, embrace of the MB at home and abroad, embrace of Islam at home and abroad, tax and spend, ever growing deficit and debt, abortion, gay marriage, a weakened military and so on.

Even if the polls are not as scientific as they should be (see JUICED: PRO-OBAMA POLLS RELY ON RECORD DEM TURNOUT, they are telling us something.

“What is going on here?” the conservatives ask. They can’t believe what’s happening. Sure Romney is as flat as a pancake, as dull as a dud, as uninspiring as a flat tire and so on. That is not to say that a different nominee would have won, only to say that a different and better nominee would have done better.

Here’s what I think the problem is.

1. Obama is likeable even if all his policies aren’t
2. A majority of Americans believe in progressive taxation so they are in favour of taxing the rich.
3. They see the democratic party as the party who will best protect the poor.
4. They like Obama’s foreign policy because he is ending wars and wants to improve America’s image abroad (even if he is not succeeding). They perceive Republicans are more for war.
5. They think that Obama will bring peace between Israel and the PA even is this means pressuring Israel.
6. They like interfaith dialogue and aren’t ready to confront Islam or Muslims.

Go ahead, add to my list.

Referring beautiful and refined Mrs. Romeny
as her speech “flat as a pancake” is pathetic by comparison to what we have now in office.

I made no reference to her in any way. I believe she is very articulate end very intelligent.

I totally support Romney but wish he could communicate his message better. She helps.

  2. C.R. Said:

Basically every one of your six points are in error–as they came directly from the lying media whores–which shows you still have a profound lack of understanding about what is happening with most of the American people and with Barack Obama!

Ouch. But you haven’t challenged any of these points.

  3. Bernard Ross Said:

Basically they are saying cut taxes and hope that Big business creates jobs(trickle down economics)

No, they are saying cut taxes and regulations so that small business can thrive. Afterall small businesses are the employers of 75% of the workers and they will be the engine of job production.

  4. @ kog:As I see it, the Republicans are committed to debt reduction as a central plank. The Democrats don’t talk about it and don’t even have a budget.

Who would argue that Romney given his background, would not turn things around and create more jobs. Obama has had three years and $1 trillion to do it and he has only the debt to show for it.

These to issues, FP aside, should make it a cakewalk for Romney.

Maybe Mitt has not come on in as powerful way
as would be preferred at this time. This couple adds dignity and fine character to our
office. Again, – Anybody but Obama.

interfaith dialogue with a supremacist ideology is futile

This why Daniel Pipes recently proposed that the Media publish every day one cartoon for Muhammed, until the Islamists wear out because of their anger, and realize that violence is counter-ptoductive.
I don’t know how to draw, but i will offer a series of mocking puns:

What does Palestinian incitement consist in? suicidal blAh-bLAH.

What do Islamists suffer from? religious ALAzHeimer.

The God of Islam is a
    pAL of A Hateful people.

I hope i have outraged them as much with the content as with the misspelling of “Allah”.

Thanks to Obama’s kind offer, Iran is going to get the bomb, hence i have called him bOmbama.
Thanks to Obama’s appeasement response to the riots we are going to see even more of them in the future, hence MOBama.

I also have an announcment to make: The 12th Imam is already here. It is not Ahmadinejad.
    His name is Hussein Obama.

Our danger is our corrupt and cowardly leaders will open our gates and hand them our keys without putting up a fight.

What i fear the most if Obama is reelected, is that he will somehow find a pretext to allow the international community to boycott Israel.
I hope i am completely wrong. But i cannot think of a more serious threat to Israel.

  8. C.R. Said:

    Madonna–is a whore–and quite irrelevant!

I have a gut feeling that the music industry along with Hollywood are not irrelevant to elections.
My arm-chair theorizing would be that, since actors and musicians are revered, they kind of set the guidelines for what is posh (and what is not) in the political discourse of their funs.
Pity that the GOP allows a Democrats’ monopoly on them.

  9. Laura Said:

I’m not sure if Americans like interfaith dialogue with muslims. I should think by now that Americans would be suspicious of muslims

I share your scepticism. If i were to place a bet, i would bet that Americans don’t really like Muslims.
I am not aware of public opinion polls on the issue though. If American public opinion is indeed anti-Muslim, as we both suspect, then we should remove #6 from Mr Belman’s list.

  10. kog Said:

My first time voting Republican, and have roughly the same issues as most Democrats… a woman’s ability to have an abortion, gay rights, holding the line on the environment, etc. All of those are trumped for me by the incredibly bad foreign policy of our President.

I sympathize with every single attitude your statement expresses (i’ve been speaking along similar lines recently).
And i think that your statement adds a seventh reason to Mr Belman’s list of why Americans still (seem to) vote for a truly bad President such as Obama: they want the more tolerant stance towards gay and women rights to prevail.
Were the GOP to address these two issues, lots of liberals, who see Obama for the real fraud he is, would feel liberated to vote for Romney without fear of being looked down upon as rednecks in the circles they frequent.

  11. kog Said:

The President has a flat-out loser position on foreign policy, and that’s where the jabs and punches have to go to soften him up for the knockout on the economy. My take.

    I completely agree.
The best way to do it is to stress Obama’s softness on Iran and highlight the clear and present danger for a new 9/11 in America, with casualties in the order of millions instead of thousands this time, if Iran gets the bomb.

  12. @ Bernard Ross:
    Bernard Ross Said:

Isn’t this what the anti war voters said when they dumped bush? I wonder if they still agree with that approach. Apparently, the dog did more damage than eat the homework

JS, are you equating Obama with a dog in the 2008 USA Presidential election? My, my; if this is the case you indeed are doing a great disservice to the dog who doesn’t deserve this comparison.

  13. IN terms of winning an election I think Romneys big mistake was taking on Paul Ryan. The deciding votes will be cast by the undecided and those in the middle. For either side to pick a veep at this point who is more further from the middle than they are is a strategic error. Ryan could do good in the background but as a veep he signals a shift of Romney further right. For election purposes, this heightens fear of Romney from centrists. Medicare has become a sacred cow and few would get rid of it except republicans and conservatives. Romney, even if inaccurate, assuaged centrists fears by presiding over a “republican” health plan in Mass. By choosing Ryan, who supports dismantling medicare by route of vouchers, Romney has made a foolish strategic mistake which unnecessarily alienated centrist and undecided voters. Romney already had the conservatives as Obama already has the leftists. A conservative who doesn’t vote for Romney will not vote for obama whereas an undecided not voting for Romney is more likely to vote for Obama. Same with a leftist radical. This brings his strategic judgment ability into question on other issues.

  15. @ Ted Belman:
Long ago I set up a rule for myself. I will NEVER, EVER repeat, resend or analyze for comments either “polls” or forecasts by the parties which I intend to defeat.
It is simply not positive for our interests at all to re send their clearly fabricated materials. We serve the opposing parties when we do that.
In Israel and I have to assume also in the US the “pollsters” as a rule concoct the polls results using either data massaging or leaded questions.

  16. 7) The Democrats prefer a president whose name reminds them of Osama.
    8) The Democrats do high-fives when the president bankrupts American coal companies, while providing grants (American taxpayers money) to Chinese coal plants.

  17. The incumbent always has a huge advantage simply in terms of name recognition and the fact that he has been in charge for a few years. Thus Obama in terms of telephone polling will always have an advantage over the other guy, whatever his name is, oh yeah, Romney. But even in this case, Obama should be polling way ahead of Romney but he isn’t. On election day Romney will have the same name recognition as Obama as well as the disadvantage of his four years record of failure. This will decide the election, not biased polls, publicized by corrupt media and conducted in October by pollsters already in the tank for Obama.

  18. The polls have all but declared Obama the victor come the elections.

Do not believe or trust the media. The election is very close although Obama should be 20 points behind given his disasterous presidency domestically and on foreign policy. The media wants to demoralize the Romney camp and make this election a self-fulfilling prophesy.

    1. Obama is likeable even if all his policies aren’t
    2. A majority of Americans believe in progressive taxation so they are in favour of taxing the rich.
    3. They see the democratic party as the party who will best protect the poor.

    5. They think that Obama will bring peace between Israel and the PA even is this means pressuring Israel.
    6. They like interfaith dialogue and aren’t ready to confront Islam or Muslims.

Obama is not likeable, but rather mean-spirited.

The democratic party has done great harm to the poor for decades with the growth of the welfare state.

Obama extended wars: He bombed Libya and is aiding the Syrian jihadist rebels with arms and he threw ally Mubarak under the bus to install the anti-American muslim brotherhood to rule Egypt. His policies directly led to the murders of Americans in Libya, not to mention the administration, with foreknowledge of the attacks, did nothing to secure our embassies. If Americans give Obama high marks on foreign policy, then they aren’t remotely paying attention.

I’m not sure if Americans like interfaith dialogue with muslims. I should think by now that Americans would be suspicious of muslims and realize interfaith dialogue with a supremacist ideology is futile. If not, then like I said above, they aren’t paying attention to anything going on in the world.

    6. They like interfaith dialogue and aren’t ready to confront Islam or Muslims.

Mr. Belman, I would have hoped that you had wised up since the election of 2008 and 2010–apparently not.

Basically every one of your six points are in error–as they came directly from the lying media whores–which shows you still have a profound lack of understanding about what is happening with most of the American people and with Barack Obama!

The Marxist media–who are in effect the ministry of propaganda for the Marxist democrat party–are lying–Mitt Romney is not behind in most of the polls–the media are lying! Many of the American people will not turn out for Barack Obama as they did in 2008–but rather they are going to turn out against him!

  20. I don’t think I’ve listened to a single speech of Romney’s…I watch (with riveted horror) Obama giving his speeches, and they grow worse by the day. His latest fiasco has been that UN speech where he’s pandering to Muslim fanatics. He is constantly communicating to the Arab world that America is weak and ready to crumble. (I just can’t imagine what America will look like if he wins). If the contest were between Obama and a dog — the dog gets my vote.

In the last top gun competition that Israel participated in it was 50 to 0 in Israels favor. India had similar results against the Americans.

I remember when the top gun film came out, my sister saying that at the real top gun school in Miramar (I think) that a lot of the top gun instructors are Israeli as they have actually done the real thing.

  22. kog Said:

The general public probably acknowledges the immensity of the deficit/debt problem, but they do not trust the Republicans to do any better job at resolving it.

I think you are right with this statement, there is a good basis for this. Romney and the conservatives dont appear to have a believable plan that suits todays times. Basically they are saying cut taxes and hope that Big business creates jobs(trickle down economics) Those jobs have been exported. No one is being honest about the extent of the situation. You cant have an economy if you dont produce anything. America is only distributing to itself what others produce. In order to purchase all these foreign goods you must be earning foreign currencies but Ahis wont solve american exports plummet. Not only is US not producing the goods it consumes but all the export that the US used to produce a few decades ago has disappeared. This is what Big business and crooked politicians have created for the American people. There is likely to be massive currency devaluation not only from the debt being created but also from the contracting exports and expanding imports. However, the problem will not be solved because america cannot compete with asia without a massive drop in standard of living, and why should that be done to preserve foreign entry into the US. When Asia starts having their own populations become consumption engines things may equalize in international trade but thats a long way off and the consumption increases globally will lead to other problems of scarcity, it is already. Neither side is any good but the old ways are not going to dig the US out of this mess and many dont buy the belt tightening idea when they look at all the billionaires, rich politicians and CEOs who get paid millions while bankrupting companies. Neither side is good for america.

“And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince who stands for the children of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time; and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to reproachs and everlasting abhorrence. And they that are wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” Daniel 12

  24. @ zechariah:
All I know is that they’ve already murdered many millions of us over thousands of years – with complete impunity. Germany flourished right after the Holocaust. Muslims are taking over the world and committing all kinds of violent crimes, while being treated with increased deference by our governments. Good guys are retreating everywhere. I have good reasons to be scared.

  25. @ Canadian Otter:
There always to be missing in analysis the one truly real factor and that is HaShem, Creator of Heaven and Earth, the ONE WHO HAS ISRAEL’S BACK and NEITHER SLUMBERS NOR SLEEPS. Furthermore, if the G-D fearers in the United States don’t come forward and vote out of office the child of ISHMAEL AND AMALEK, OBAMA, then HaShem will completely hide his face from the USA as HE seems to be partially doing so now given the misery befalling the USA. It should always be remembered that ISRAEL HAS A COVENANT WITH HASHEM, THE UNITED STATES DOES NOT.

  26. @ yamit82:
You write: No matter who is elected the world will not resemble today in 4 years and not for the better.

Agree. But aside the US and EU Orwellian issues that are popping up every day, there is one prospect that is even more frightening: High Technology in Muslim hands.

We read daily about new developments to control citizens, to control their personal devices, to even control their minds. Can anyone imagine what all this new technological power would be in the hands of a World Caliphate? Muslim Nukes are bad enough. But what about all the diabolical stuff our scientists is producing already?

That’s why the submission of the West to Islam goes beyond exchanging one power for another, one religion for another. It’s entering into the realm of nightmares.

  27. @ Canadian Otter:

Nothing America sells or gives Israel remains as delivered. In our aircraft all critical avionics are Israeli manufactured and designed. Our satellites are smaller cheaper and better than anything the Americans have produced to date. We are at least one or two generations ahead of the Americans in Drones and light years ahead of them in theater tactics. ( The Americans send their elite troops here to train and learn). In the last top gun competition that Israel participated in it was 50 to 0 in Israels favor. India had similar results against the Americans.

America who is afraid of confronting both Pakistan and N. Korea because they have Nukes should not be expected to become suicidal against Israel.

Our danger is our corrupt and cowardly leaders will open our gates and hand them our keys without putting up a fight.

It’s a secret but Israel has mastered our own stealth technology making us especially lethal.

    From LEMON LIME BLOG

    The Green Thing

“Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested

to the older woman, that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren’t good for the environment. The woman apologized and explained, “We didn’t have this green thing back in my earlier days.”

The young clerk responded, “That’s our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations.” She was right — our generation didn’t have the green thing in its day.

Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were truely recycled. But we didn’t have the green thing back in our day.

Grocery stores bagged our groceries in brown paper bags, that we reused for numerous things, most memorable besides household garbage bags, was the use of brown paper bags as book covers for our schoolbooks. This was to ensure that public property, (the books provided for our use by the school) was not defaced by our scribblings. Then we were able to personalize our books on the brown paper bags. But too bad we didn’t do the green thing back then.

We walked up stairs, because we didn’t have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn’t climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks. But she was right. We didn’t have the green thing in our day.

    Home from school
Back then, we washed the baby’s diapers because we didn’t have the throwaway kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy-gobbling machine burning up 220 volts — wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that young lady is right; we didn’t have the green thing back in our day.

Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house — not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn’t have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used wadded up old newspapers to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, we didn’t fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn’t need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity. But she’s right; we didn’t have the green thing back then.

We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull.
But we didn’t have the green thing back then.

Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service. We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn’t need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 23,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest burger joint.
But isn’t it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn’t have the green thing back then? ”

An economy built of disposable stuff and the purchase of stuff we really don’t need or want is doomed to fail. The American economy was built on cheap energy, plentiful natural resources and relatively cheap labor. None exist today. Most Jobs lost will never return. I predict no matter who is elected that real American unemployment can hit 30% in the next 4 years.

No matter who is elected the world will not resemble today in 4 years and not for the better.

  29. @ yamit82:
Hostages? Or a convenient pretext for an all out invasion “to save American lives”, in case of a PA/Israeli Arab uprising instigated by You-Know-Who? Israelis are smart and resourceful, I know. But the US may have codes to control everything. They sell you much of the equipment, after all. To say nothing of other means of spying and controlling key players on the ground.

  30. @ Canadian Otter:

The US already has thousands of armed forces stationed in Israel, with no good reason –

They are here to monitor our moves and capabilities. Then we also monitor them and their capabilities. We are smarter than they are and this is our home not theirs.

    Then…

They are our potential hostages and if things really go south they can be rendered totally non-threatening to Israel or anyone else in less than an hour.

  31. MISTAKE? OVERSIGHT? Military voters told to submit ballots a week after deadline in Wisconsin.

“The Federal Voting Assistance Program website published an incorrect deadline for the return of returning military ballots in Wisconsin. Had this error not been corrected, thousands of Wisconsin servicemen and women could have been disenfranchised in this key swing state this November.”

    http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/09/25/Wisconsin-MIlitary-Voters-Told-to-Submit-Ballots-a-Week-After-Deadline

The military is expected to vote Republican, for the most part.

  32. Ted, My first comment on your estimable site, if it goes through! My first time voting Republican, and have roughly the same issues as most Democrats… a woman’s ability to have an abortion, gay rights, holding the line on the environment, etc. All of those are trumped for me by the incredibly bad foreign policy of our President. Empowering the MB is making a really bad problem worse, and the concommitant isolation and weakening of Israel itself, and the relationship between the U.S. and Israel… sends me over the edge. The Republicans do not have clear winners on anything to anyone who does not value the foreign policy danger foremost,… you can parse it to your tastes almost. The general public probably acknowledges the immensity of the deficit/debt problem, but they do not trust the Republicans to do any better job at resolving it. In fact, they probably regard Romney as a better bet to resolve economics issues, but he gets tarred with the same feathers as prior Republicans. What I don’t understand, especially with all the lying about Benghazi and the recent Taliban attack on a unique and irreplaceable air wing in Afghanistan, is why the severe lack of defense of U.S. interests, the penetration of State and the Executive Branch by fellow travelers of the MB and inability to articulate our exceptionalism worldwide isn’t being beaten on the Romney drums to the exclusion of everything else. The President has a flat-out loser position on foreign policy, and that’s where the jabs and punches have to go to soften him up for the knockout on the economy. My take.

  33. CHILLING WORDS, remember? “AFTER THE ELECTION I WILL HAVE MORE FLEXIBILITY.” That’s what Obama told the president of Russia in confidence, unaware his microphone was on.

What’s the US elite’s agenda for Israel? To subjugate it completely under ‘Responsibility to Protect’? The US already has thousands of armed forces stationed in Israel, with no good reason –

Video with Samantha Power, advisor to president Obama, calling for an invasion of Israel based on higher “Principles” as defined by her. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oFkmcZt4OQ

  34. are actually Democrats who are losing their … rallies are being held in small stadiums dwindling for lack of public … are distorting the data of polls for them … are censoring the press and the organs of research … not this meeting with world leaders, and yes, artists and personalidaes, trying to lean on the trail this stars … and do not leave the liberal media for a moment … this campaign is difficult ta pros Democrats the longer appear less grow

  35. There is a huge silent conservative majority whose votes won’t be silent at election time. Liberal polls make a lot of noise like squeaky wheels.
