According to the Lebanese newspaper Al Diyar, which enjoys close ties to Hezbollah and the Syrian government, Israel has agreed to train soldiers affiliated with former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, who is currently in exile, preparing them to fight against the Hezbollah According to the report, during his visit to Qatar, Hariri met with Vice Foreign Minister Dani Ayalon and a representative of the Mossad with the backing of the Qatar government and Qatar’s Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani. They agreed on establishing a training camp in Jordan, with Arabic speaking Israeli officers.

The article stated that some 500 fighters will be trained each month, with the goal of reaching 20,000 soldiers after two years. A series of monthly coordination meetings was agreed on at that meeting as well.

Saad Hariri, a favorite of the Saudis and the West, was ousted from his office of Lebanon’s prime minister in January, 2011. This took place after Hezbollah and its partners in parliament broke away from the government and overthrew Hariri following an international court’s decision to indict Hezbollah for the murder of his father, former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik el Hariri. Following the report’s publication and the arrest warrants issued against Hezbollah activists, Hariri escaped to Saudi Arabia, fearing an assassination attempt against him.

  1. can somebody explain to me Qatar?
    1) The recognize Hamas and Gaza.
    2) They want Israel to train the Lebanese army?

If this is true what gives?

  2. Mr. Hariri is an honorable man who wants peace in the Middle East. He is smart enough to go to the very best for military training. Even with Israeli training, it would take decades before these Arabs could operate at the skill level Israelis do. My hat is off to Mr. Hariri, who has a score to settle with the murderers of his father.

Israel is also expert in agriculture, and if Egypt is serious about feeding its people, why not approach the Jews for assistance?

Israel’s experts in medicine have invented, innovated and carved the path in successful treatments of illnesses and deformities. If a medicine or treatment has helped you and your family, chances are the Jews had a hand in it.

Do I see progress in good relationships between Jews and Arabs?

  3. According to the Lebanese newspaper Al Diyar, which enjoys close ties to Hezbollah

Is this a credible source or is it just disinformation to discredit a sunni faction by hezbullah. Any 3rd party verification? If it were true it would imply the recent Qatar to gaza trip was working a deal involving Israel. If gaza developed as an economic magnet then pals can emigrate there from the west bank. Certainly any deal with Israel would be under the table so anything is possible.

  4. Mr. Narvey nails it! Who are these kumbaya idiots who go along with this plan to zip tea with these soon to be thankless muslims. Stupid is what stupid does.

First, demand that Jordan and Lebanon deport all the palestinians to their refugee camps, then train these Arab soldiers.

At least the palestinians would be their problem now and they will then appreciate the training.

    ISRAEL HAS DONE THIS BEFORE

    http://www.fas.org/irp/world/iran/savak/

SAVAK: ” Formed under the guidance of United States and Israeli intelligence officers in 1957,..”

HOW IS THAT WORKING OUT for ISRAEL?

  5. This report is worrisome on a number of levels:

    1. IDF is the most sophisticated military force in the Mid East. They now are going to train and thus share their military knowledge with 20 thousand retired Arab soldiers in exile, affiliated with former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri.

    2. The assumption is that this 20 thousand strong military force will remain united in its hatred of Hezbollah and whatever hatred they harbor against Israel will be a distant 2nd concern. That assuption is a very tall order, if not more built on wishful thinking than objective reality, in that part of the world.

    3. The assumption is that while Jordan plays host to these soldiers being trained by the IDF with the objective of waging war on Hezbollah, that Hezbollah and Iran for that matter, will sit back and just let that happen.

    4. Exactly from where will this force of 20,000 strike Hezbollah in Lebanon? Is it assumed that they will launch an attack on Hezbollah from Jordan? Is it assumed that they will infiltrate Lebanon and when the time is right and the call is given, all will rise up against and destroy Hezbollah thus opening the gates of Lebanon to Hariri to come back and rule?

    5. What happens after Hezbollah is destroyed, if the plan works? You can bet that the IDF trained Arab army will be free to train the rest of the Lebanese army as well as any other Arab nations that want the benefit of such training.

    6. In the event things go as planned, but the Arab armies become as sophisticated as the IDF is it assumed that Israel will have built up enough good will with the Arab nations that they will then drop their hatred of Israel and beat their swords into ploughshares?

    ***************************************

If Jordan and Qatar don’t like Hezbollah and want them dead, as between them they must already have a far larger military and military capacity than does Hezbollah. If Jordan is prepared to be the training ground for building an army to fight Hezbollah, why not just invite these retired soldiers to Jordan to become part of the Jordanian/Qatar forces to fight Hezbollah?

Whether Jordan/Qatar join forces to fight Hezbollah or provide facilities and IDF training for soliders in exile from Lebanon, formerly loyal to Hariri, who are being trained in Jordan to attack and defeat Hezbollah, will make no difference to Hezbollah and Iran. In either case Jordan and Qatar will be viewed by Hezbollah and Iran as enemies made all the worse for consorting with the hated Israelis and thus they will be demonized as traitors to the Muslim ummah and Islam.

If this scheme comes to pass and 20 thousand IDF Arab soldiers are poised to wage war on Hezbollah and begin that venture, that war could rage out of control, encompass the whole of the Middle East and just what do you think the rallying cry would be? Duh! Death to Israel

Where is Israel’s head at on this one?
